~ The Next Day ~

"~Yawns~..."

I looked over to my right to see my clock next to me...

The morning arrived early, and I found myself awake at 6 am...

Deciding to start the day with some stretches, I got up from bed and neatly arranged it before sitting down for a series of basic exercises. Thinking a half-hour session would do, I readied myself for another day's worth of training...

I began to strength my body. Since I was very highly adaptable, My body was able to do a split now. A standing split is another story though...

After half an hour of stretching my body. I got ready.

I showered and did the usual stuff any person would do to get clean. I quickly left my room, and made my way to the training facility again...

.

.

.

I turned the corner, seeing a familiar face from afar...

"Anna?" I called out.

I saw her turn toward me...

"Oh, hey Alex." She said.

What was she doing here? I was one of the only persons that actually used the room other than the team, and anyone else was few and far in between...

"Hey, by any chance, did you come to train?" I asked her, double checking.

She nodded.

I smiled. "Hmm, well, nice to see you here I guess." I said, walking past her. I opened the training room door, only to feel something tugging my shirt.

...

"Um, Alex, but could I... Ask you a favor?" She said. Given the way she asked, she sounded like she mustered up her courage for it, so I was going to accept for now, it wouldn't hurt, right?

I then nodded, earning a shy smile from her.

While a little uncertain about the suddenness, I couldn't just pass up an opportunity to train with someone else.

In fact, I was a little excited.

"Alright, let's go." I motioned, walking forward.

When we entered the room, I saw some of the X-Men here—Logan, Beast and Jean...

"Morning." I greeted them. The two responded with nods, and a small grunt from logan...

"Are you guys planning on using the place yourselves?" I asked. If so, I would be a little bummed out by it. But, I could wait.

"No, not really, as a matter of fact, we were here to see you guys train together. Just think of us as... contingencies, if anything went, south..." Jean said.

Now I was a little confused.

Clearly, something was up, first Jean suddenly asked asks me to train with her, and now they're here to watch over us? Coincidence, I think not. After thinking about Jean's situation, it started to add up...

'I see what's going on...' I sighed.

"Alright, but could you guys be far away when it happens?" I asked.

They nodded. Then the three quickly reached the inner edges of the room...

Leaving me and leaving her and me by ourselves...

"So, Anna." I called to her.

"What, and how many powers do you have?" I then asked. Cracking my neck and arms a bit more...

"I'm not sure, about four abilities so far... Still, I'm not telling you what the powers are though." She answered.

Huh, I wanted her to tell me using the casual approach tactic, but she isn't that naive, this was good.

I smiled, knowing what they were would have made things easier, but who liked easy?

Alright, how would I go about this though?

Should I aim for the right leg, for a clean sweep? Or the back of the neck for an old fashion knockout?

I decided. 'I think I should test her a little fist... To see what she's capable of...'

*Fwish~*

I dashed towards her, moving at speeds she could likely not comprehend. I covered the meters worth of distance within the blink of an eye.

"Gah!" She shouted surprised. Her hand raised in reflex.

'The hell are those?' I thought, seeing bluish white smoke building up on her hands.

Using my enhanced perception, I slowed down time to what seemed like a halt, getting a better look...

'It looks like Ice? Is that her power?' I thought.

However, for some reason, my body tingled, strangely...

'The hell is this?' I asked myself, it felt, odd.

I couldn't describe it either, other than sensation being akin to instinct, or intuition...

'Below me!?' I thought. I quickly dodged to the right. Only to see a massive ice pillar spike up Infront of where I was.

The sounds registered as my perception returned to normal...

*CRASH!!!!*

*SISSLE...*

*SISSLE...*

.

.

.

I was surprised, the pillar was impressive—tall, thick, and very sharp...

'She isn't weak... That's for sure.' I made a mental note to watch out.

"You okay!?" Jean shouted.

"Yeah, I'm fine..." I rubbed the back of my head. Glad she was concerned. Most people would likely die or get seriously injured from such an attack...

Reflecting on the peculiar sensation I had gotten earlier, I just refocused on Anna.

'I'll think about that part later...'

I turned towards her, "I think I understand you a little better now... From what I could judge, you likely can't bring out your powers out willingly." I said.

I saw her gave me the wide eyes, "Yeah, but how did you know?" She asked.

"Well, if I hadn't stopped and let you see me... Meaning, your powers must be released on emotional responses, to an extent..." I responded to her, not entirely sure, but it seemed that way.

She did tell me earlier that she had trouble touching others, but controlling these abilities were another matter entirely...

"That's, correct... I'm surprised you assessed that much so quickly. But why make the assumption that she couldn't control it in the first place?" Beast chided. I could see a smile on his face...

"...Ok... Sure, as I was saying earlier, when I was about to attack, I stopped in the nick of time, just to let her see me, and her response, being surprise or shock, her follow up was that of a typical reflexive measure, just with her ability as an outlet."

This wasn't hard to figure out really... Still, being able to copy other powers with just a mere touch, and memories too, is very powerful, if not blatantly overpowered... The only downside is control it seemed, but even then, it wasn't that much of a downside.

It wasn't as if her powers were spewing out of control either, once she wasnt pushed to a certain point, she should be ok...

I turned, seeing the blue giant nod with acceptance.

"You can continue your match..." He said. I shrugged, and got into another stance. Taking another look, I saw them mumbling to one another...

Hearing him say that gave me chills...

'I have a bad feeling for some reason...' Still, I ignored the feeling.

"Alright... Let's continue." I shouted. But looking at Anna, I realized the ice particles were now completely gone...

'Oh~ This might take a while.' No control means she can't keep it on either. It might be a give an take sort of thing...

"I can get it to work, I just need a little time..." She nervously said. It looks like I'd have to do what I did earlier...

Once Again, I dashed towards her. Disappearing from everyone's vision once again, this time, I deliberately formed a wide swing punch...

*Clenches fist*

"Haaah!!!" I shouted, adding effect...

I saw her face contort. Her hands raising out of fear of getting hit. Just as I was about to attack...

.

.

.

*SPIIISSSHHHHH~*

"Huh?" I uttered, halting mid-swing.

'The hell?' My mind raced as I instinctively stepped back...

Suddenly, a billow of white gas erupted from her body, engulfing me. I couldn't avoid inhaling some of it.

A strange sensation washed over me. I felt off-kilter...

"What... What did I get hit with?" My thoughts jumbled, my footing unsteady...

"Jush... O-O... Mahhh..." Sleep felt, inviting...

*Falls flat on the floor...*

"Haha!" Logan's voice boomed through the room.

"You owe me a hundred dollars, Hank. Told ya' he would get caught," Logan continued, his triumph evident.

"Fine, you win..." The blue Giant grumbled in annoyance, his tone revealing his frustration.

"You and your stupid bets..." Jean chided, her disappointment clear.

"Oh, no..." Anna's voice carried concern as she moved closer to the scene unfolding.

Sensing trouble, Logan hurried closer, poised to assist Alex.

However...

In an unexpected turn, Logan experienced an unsettling sensation—every hair on his body stood on end. Panic surged through him as he glanced at the cause of it, Alex...

'Damn it...' His mind raced, feeling his adamantium claws emerge involuntarily.

He turned to Beast, witnessing the same reaction, every inch of his hair rising in unison.

"Logan! Move Anna AWAY! NOW!!!" Beast's urgent shout echoed through the room.

'Shit!' Logan cursed inwardly, taking swift action.

He rushed towards Anna as fast as possible, bellowing a warning, "ANNA, DON'T GO ANY CLOSER, BACK AWAY!!!" His urgency alarmed the girl, and she complied, retreating from Alex's figure.

Observing Alex's inexplicable ascent once more, Logan, with gloved hands, swiftly positioned himself between Alex and grabbed Anna, shielding her protectively...

"Stay behind me..." His words carried a feral edge, revealing his heightened concern.

"I don't understand, what's goin' on?" Anna's puzzled voice broke the tension.

"I agree, Alex is waking up, isn't that a good thing?" Jean's curiosity piqued, unaware of the men's growing concern...

Reacting swiftly, Beast grasped Jean's hand, pulling her behind him protectively as well.

"Stay, back!... Whatever that, is... It's not Alex..." Beast's warning carried a sense of foreboding, the tension in the room palpable...
