Scanning for a seat, Theon spotted a solitary young girl with chestnut-colored locks and a sprinkle of freckles.
'Rogue?' He approached her, startling the room.
"Hey, I'm Theon. What's your name?" he asked, smiling gently.
"Y-you shouldn't come near m—" The girl stuttered, but Theon took her hand before she could finish. "Touch-based powers don't affect me," he assured, surprising everyone.
Reminiscing an event from 2 months prior Theon smiled.
He was browsing trough New York homeless people bases when he saw a mutant with the power to put people to sleep by touching them.
He got discovered and the man tried to use his power on him but to his surprise, it didn't work at all taking advantage of the man's surprise he used telekinesis and neutralized the threat, realizing later that such defenses drained his energy.
/Back to class/
"What's your name?" he persisted, releasing Rogue's hand
"Anna Marie," she replied, her voice timid.
"Nice to meet you" Theon said, settling in front of her.
Observing the exchange, Logan chuckled softly to himself.
'The kid was smooth'
"Now you all shut up, we'll get back to the lesson. As I was saying..."
At the end of the lecture, Theon found Xavier waiting for him. Stepping towards him, Theon inquired
"Are you here to bring me somewhere?"
"To your room, I also have a question, do you know what is your power?"
'Better not lie, especially with Wolverine around; he's practically a human lie detector' Theon thought, aware of Logan's keen ability to discern falsehoods.
"I genuinely don't know, as far I'm concerned I have minor telekinesis, physical enchantment and the defense against touch-based powers"
He omitted Mind touch since he doesn't want to be an outcast.
Considering Theon's varied abilities, Xavier suggested putting aside the discussion for now and guided Theon to his room.
The professor accompanied Theon Into the room where he could overhear two boys bickering:
"Shut up snowman"
"No, YOU shut up bomb-man"
Coughing the professor made his presence heard, hearing him the boys immediately straightned themselves like soldiers responding to a general.
"Yes sir"
"Bob and Sam" I'd like to show you your new roommate.
"Oh, its the who touched the freak without dying"
"Don't call her like that!" Said Bobby
"Mr. Drake is right, Mr. Guthrie. You shouldn't discriminate against anyone, regardless of their age, sex, skin color, or... power," Xavier interjected firmly, urging for equality and understanding among the students.
"But her power is evil" protested Sam
"Sam, we already discussed about this in cl-"
"Mutant powers aren't evil, they're just different" Theon interjected, seeking to dispel the misconception about powers being inherently malevolent.
"Now I must take my leave, I have a class waiting for me, you guys introduce yourselves to him"
Seeing Xavier leave the room the 2 boys faced Theon:
the first to present himself was Bobby"I'm Bobby Drake, my nickname will be Iceman"
Seeing that Sam had no intention of presenting himself Bobby shok his head and said: "he's Samuel Guhire, and he wants to be called Cannonball you can call him Sam"
'Cannonball and Iceman? This universe's got some interesting monikers. Hopefully, no Galactus—I'm not up for that!' Theon thought wryly.
"Nicknames?" Theon questioned.
"Yeah, for our X-Men aspirations. You know, superhero vibes," Bobby explained.
"So, Iceman controls ice, and Cannonball's a bomb, right?" Theon inferred.
"Well not really he's more like a human rocket but as for me you got it right. Hey what about your power?"asked bob excited
"I honestly don't know it has a mix of them"
"What about your defense against powers? Do you think you can pass it on others?"
'I need to understand how he fell in love with Rogue'
"I don't think so. It's more like self-defense" he responded, sensing Bobby's intrigue wane.
"Uh, is that a DC comic?"
"Oh yea I like Superman especially"
'Oh, so Dc comic is here... WAIT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I won't BE ABLE TO SEE DEADPOOL 3!!! I WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE BEYOND THE SPIDERVERSE AND THE END OF ONE PIECE!!!!' Thought Theon in despair
'Why did I realize this only now?!'Theon was on the verge of crying.
"Hey, are you good?" Asked Bobby with a hint of apprehension
"Yea, yea don't worry it just brought some sad memories"
'Don't crumble. If I can't watch it, I'll live it!' Determined, he resolved to seek out Deadpool, Spider-Man, and other heroes in this world.
Boosting his morale, Theon settled on his bed, letting his mind wander into the realms of imagination and dreams.
