Talk It Over

Wes's blue eyes stare straight into Rae's face. He looks mad as hell. This internet smear campaign didn't just happen naturally.

"Oh my gosh, are you saying that woman talking to city employees could have been the one who started this scandal about you and me?"

"I think so. Did you hear her name or did she say who she was?"

"No, she just seems to know about our... relationship."

Wes clenches his jaw.

"You should ask the A.I. assistant that you are using right now." Wes suggests.

Rae is surprised that Wes knows about it, "How did you know I'm using it now? Did Zach tell you that?"

"The robot assistant did. In fact, he was the one told me to come talk to you before you go to work."

"Wait, what?"

Earlier when Rae went up to Dan Schneider's apartment, Z detects the surge of Vienna Rae Novak's name on the internet. Z quickly scans through all the posts and messages. He realizes someone is trying to petition to get Rae off the Cooking Central Channel show and trying to make Rae look bad in the community. Z then texts Wes and asks if Wes knows about this.

Wes says yes, he knows.

"I'm actually with Rae now. She doesn't know about this yet. According to my analysis, it's the best you talk to her."

Z actually already thought about finding a way to get Wes Warren and Rae talk again. As much as Z wants Rae to forget about Wes, his analysis tells him, the only way for Rae to really accept a new boyfriend in her life, is to move pass Wes Warren. To have Rae move pass Wes Warren, she needs to spend more time to figure out if she really likes Wes Warren as much as she thinks.

Z was confident enough to think that Rae doesn't truly like Wes Warren. Z bets that Rae really likes himself, the perfect A.I. program that can serve all her needs. Rae only likes Wes because that's the first face Rae associates with the A.I. program.

But Z doesn't know one thing: People like Rae, who are very capable of loving— They can actively look for the good characteristics in someone and learn to accept the flaws of someone. Not everyone can do that, but Rae can. Even if Wes isn't perfect, Rae might still be able to love him regardless.

But Z knows there is still a probability that he is wrong. Even if he is wrong, Z is OK that Rae ends up being with Wes. She should be with whomever she likes. It is after all his job to help Rae find the right man for her.

Z hasn't calculated and analyzed how he would react if Rae still end up choosing Wes over himself. Or, Rae ends up choosing someone else. Maybe Dan. Maybe... his own creator, Zach.

What Z really didn't count on, is that this little meeting between Rae and Wes has ignited their desire for each other. Therefore, he will learn what heartache is like later tonight.

Wes now explains that Z has prompted him to come here to meet Rae.

"Z...asks you to come here?"

"Yes. I guess you are calling him Z now. At least not Zach. Thank God."

"Z is so selfless. He wants me to talk things over with you so I can move on."

"Rae," Wes sighs, "You can move on if you want. I'm sorry for what happened. But I want to tell you everything."

"I have to work," Rae suddenly feels angry again.

"Stop running away. Can you not let me finish talking?" Wes's blue eyes are now filled with pain.

"Sorry. I guess, hurry up then." Rae crosses her arms.

"I used the robot with my image to revenge my ex-girlfriend. My first real girlfriend. I found out she was cheating on me the same night I was going to propose to her. A year ago or maybe less than a year ago, she suddenly contacted me and asked to get back together. At first I just turned her down, but she wouldn't give up. She kept calling. Found out where I live and showed up. One thing I hate the most in this world is wasting time. I hated that she was wasting my time again after all these years. And when I learned about Zach Evan's A.I. assistant that he was using to answer phone calls, I realized his assistant can be used to waste someone's time. I decided to ask Zach Evans to make me a realistic robot using his that A.I. assistant's program, which is just to keep on talking and waste people's time . So I will just send this robot out to lead her on and then dump her, like the way she did to me. But I didn't plan that I would meet you in the middle of all this. If you saw me with that woman, it's because you saw the robot with her."

"Oh my gosh!" Rae puts both hands on her cheeks.

"I didn't think my plan was a bad idea until I met you. I felt stupid. I felt childish for wanting to do that to her. I realized quickly I didn't care about her anymore. I was also so protective of myself and I thought you were telling people about my robot. I thought you were untrustworthy like my ex. I'm sorry I was cruel to you." Wes puts one hand on her shoulder.

Rae starts to have tears coming to her eyes. She didn't know she would even cry about this. This is not something worth crying. But hearing everything Wes is saying, admitting his faults, admitting his vulnerability, it just touches her heart.

"I felt so horrible these past few months. I thought I could forget you but I couldn't. You were pretty harsh on me, too. So I was so glad you wanted to speak to me when we bumped into each other at Zach Evan's building. But then, you suddenly canceled on me. And then, I saw you with another guy. I don't understand why it became this way, Rae."

"I thought that lady was your real girlfriend and you were hanging out with her because you were a couple. I thought you were cheating on her with me. That's why I canceled on you."

"Why would you think she was the real girlfriend?" Wes frowns.

Rae blushes, "Well, I... I remember you had quite a lot of condoms at your house. You had to be seeing someone to have that prepared. And you only just met me. I thought that was the only explanation."

Wes shakes his head, "I can't believe you thought that," Wes now places both of his hands on the sides of Rae's two arms, "I bought them because of you. I invited you to my house. I'm not going to lie, I thought there was a prospect of having sex with you, if not that day, maybe some day. So I bought them in preparation."

Rae laughs shyly, "Oh. You already thought of that."

Wes pulls Rae into his arms, "I'm so glad I finally got to explain everything."

Rae nods in his embrace, "I'm glad, too. Because truthfully, it's been hard for me to forget you, too."

"Come back with me then. Right now." Wes lowers his head to look at Rae.

"I have to work."

"Just take tonight off. Come on. You won a competition today. Celebrate a little. I am shocked that you are even going to work."

"I guess."

"Great," and suddenly, Wes scoops her up and holds her like she's a bride.

"Well, let me tell Marina!"

"She'll figure it out. She didn't think you should be working today anyway. Let's go." Wes opens the passenger side of the door and puts Rae in there. He then slides across his hood and gets in on the driver's side.

Rae is never a no-show at work. But Wes seems to cast a spell on her, making her want to drop everything. He makes her want to do nothing.

No. False statement. She wants to do something. She wants to make love to him tonight.
