Chapter 38

Ajay turned around and saw Kaia and Mira covering their mouths in shock and Ravi widening his eyes. He hesitated a bit to look at Diya but he was surprised when he finally saw her. Diya's face showed she was not even a little shocked rather she was glaring at Manav and Ananya.

"You knew?" Ajay asked her when they were at the entrance of the restaurant. "Remember the lunch I asked you about your job? When you said AJ Empire, I naturally thought that you were an employee there but I saw the manager bowing to you when we were exiting the restaurant. I also remembered Kaia once mentioning her idol owning that building and stuff. So I guessed." Diya said.

She turned to Kaia who still looked shocked by the information, "But I don't know how someone didn't recognize their idol.". Kaia pouted and tried to defend herself, "I've never seen him before and he was so careful about his privacy so there were no pictures of him in the newspapers or the media. So don't blame me.".

Ravi dragged Kaia away from Ajay before she could make him regret marrying Diya by asking questions non-stop. Mira waved goodbye; trailing behind them.

Diya was tired from the eventful night so she took a bath as soon as they went back. She finished her night routine and lay down ready to sleep. Ajay came in a few minutes later and lay down beside her.

He thought Diya was fast asleep until he heard her voice. "I'm sorry.". When she didn't hear any response from him for a while, she turned to look at him to see him already looking at her. "For what?".

Diya momentarily stopped so she can hide the nervousness she felt from being so close to him and said, "You were humiliated today because of me.". Ajay continued to stare at her and sighed. "Diya. When will you stop apologizing or thanking me constantly?". "Oh right! Thank you for coming to the reunion today.".

Ajay couldn't help but laugh. Diya silently admired him with a smile. Only if she could tell him how handsome he was when laughing. "You never listen.". Ajay hesitated briefly and talked again. "Why did you fall for him?".

Diya knew who he was talking about. She sighed. "He was... kind, at the first. Okay, okay. Don't judge me now." she said when she saw him raising his eyebrows.

"He was kind, brave, considerate, and caring. He was... until he started asking me to let him touch me. I refused every time. But one day, he called me to his home. Everything was normal and he asked me *cough* for that again. As always I refused but this time... he didn't listen.".

"Then he-" she stopped when she saw Ajay abruptly sitting down. "Enough, Diya. Sleep.". Diya hurriedly held onto his arm when he tried to stand up. "He didn't succeed. He managed to stop," she said in a rush thinking he was angry with her.

Ajay realized she misunderstood so he turned around and leaned closer to her. "I'm not angry at you. I'm angry at that bastard and me. Sorry for not being there for you. I'll protect you from now on so no one can hurt you. I promise." he then kissed her forehead.
