Astrid Eaton, at the age of thirteen, was convicted of murder. She willfully killed her abusive father to protect her mother, but things didn't go as she expected them to be. Her mother turned her into the police as the murderer of her father. Because she's not yet on the legal age to be confined, the police just handed her to a government organization taking care of kids like her.
When she finally turned 18, she was finally allowed to live independently. She looked for a job, applied to a university, and rented an apartment. Astrid is aware of the ghost in the apartment, but she still rented the room, as it was the cheapest. On her first night, while cooking dinner, a spatula suddenly plummeted from the wall where it was hanging. When Astrid ignored it, a chair fell to the tiled floor, followed by the water tap, suddenly turning on. Astrid sighed and walked towards the water tap. She turned it off, fixed the chair, and picked up the spatula in front of the said ghost. The ghost's grayish-blue eyes and Astrid's deep blue eyes met when she straightened, holding the spatula. Astrid arched up one of her brows but didn't say a word. The eyes of the said ghost, self-named Penelope, who can't remember anything about her past life, widen at the realization that the tall black raven hair girl can actually see her and isn't even afraid for at least an inch. Learning that, Penelope dropped the plan of scaring Astrid. She instead begs Astrid to help her look for her mortal body because she believes that she's still alive.
