The guy from before was glaring at them and Troy immediately found the strength to shove Eden off of him without hurting her. She blinked up at him in confusion and swayed a little so the other guy was forced to catch her.

"What are you doing?" he demanded.

Troy was about to come up with an excuse—any excuse—before realizing the man wasn't talking to him. Eden replied to him with a sweet smile. "This is the guy I was telling you about!"

Huh? Why would she tell her boyfriend about another guy she was dating? He felt like he was missing something here.

"This guy? Seriously?" He sized him up while protectively keeping Eden upright. "She did say you were a musician. What's your name? I'm Ezra McBride."

Ohhhh crap. McBride. Their closeness was explained immediately. This guy was a relative. A relative that seemed to be the overprotective type. Getting punched might not be that far off after all.
