That was part of the problem. Jonah had gotten greedy; he didn't only want memories anymore. He wanted Eden in her entirety but that wasn't allowed.

The next week was torturous, though he tried to distract himself as much as possible and only call Eden when he had rehearsed what he would say in certain situations beforehand. Things were able to continue relatively normally that way.

For the most part, she acted like things between them were the way they were before but there was a subtle, indefinable shift. She texted him on her breaks at work even if she didn't think he could respond. She was acting like his girlfriend.
