186 Ouch

Troy sighed from inside the vent. "It's rough, huh? How's your mom doing then?"

Megan knew he was only asking because she had asked how his cousin was doing first but her insides still twisted with the painful reminder of what happened earlier. "She actually got hospitalized again yesterday."

"Oh geez, I'm sorry. And then the air conditioner had to break on top of that?!"

"Not only that. I'm a second violinist in an orchestra and the conductor was in a bad mood today and took it out on all of us. That happened before I even got the news about my mom, let alone the stupid air conditioner breaking down."

Why was she complaining to him? Because he had sort of complained to her first? What sort of bizarrely deep conversation between strangers were they even having right now?

"Ouch. Your luck is even worse than mine. My condolences," Troy said sympathetically.

Megan raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What's going on with you?"
