Eden sighed and threw her hands up into the air. "This doesn't change anything! Why would you bother telling me that?!"

Jonah blinked at her seriously. "Because you should know. I know we won't be able to start over but I wanted you to know that the months when we were talking were the best of my life. 

"You're an amazing person and I want you to be happy and succeed in all of your goals. Knowing you're out there and doing okay is all I need; I don't expect my feelings to be reciprocated. I never did."

Her heart ached. He said that so matter-of-factly. He didn't have any expectations for being happy at all, did he? That was the impression she had gotten out of this conversation. 

He acted on his own without thinking about how relationships were a two-way street. He kept things from her and decided to cut her off supposedly for her own good without ever asking for her input.
