Jonah was happy with her; Eden could tell. The longer they had been together, the lighter he seemed to be. He wasn't the same overly self-conscious man he had been when they first met. 

She was glad about that because she was happy with him too. Happier than she thought was possible in a romantic relationship before he came along. Even if they had met and gotten together in a rather unconventional (not to mention painful) way, she could never regret meeting him. 

They never would have met at all if Jonah hadn't been coerced into filling in for Troy. He didn't really get out much in those days so she wouldn't have had the chance. Her entire life would be different if that hadn't happened. 

Eden really owed Troy but she would never tell him that because he would lord it over her forever. That was the kind of guy he was. He teased her terribly but he did the same thing to Jonah so she knew he only did it because she was sort of an extension of him.
