32 Chapter 32: Terumi Mei, just an average genin.

Hachiro's expression didn't falter for a second after having his foot stepped on.

"I have a new mission and need Mei for it."

Samui's face didn't change much, but from the minor body movements you could tell she was ready to get physical.

"The mission is important, can you stop making this so troublesome, it'll only take five seconds."

He lightly patted Samui's butt.

She shivered in response.

Mabui and Mei who were looking at them couldn't help but blush at the scene.

Hinata was looking around trying to figure out why everyone went so red.

"Ahem, just tell me now. I don't think it will really matter if you tell me later."

Terumi Mei said with a dry cough, and eased the tension in the atmosphere.

"From this year and onward the chunin exam system will be ran differently."

He quickly explained to the three of them about how it would work and why it was to be alternately hosted by Konoha, Kuma and Suna.

The he stared at Terumi Mei with a weird smile,

"Kumogakure's genin representitive will be you."

As soon as they processed what he said they were stunned.

"Wait, me? The genin representative?"

After a moment she raised her finger and pointed at herself.

Hachiro nodded with a smile that only showed how amused he was.

"Uh… so... yes me?

"Are you certain?"

Mabui said in disbelief,

"How could Mei... sh-she's a jonin!"

"Except for the higher ranking shinobi from the mist, who else know's she's a jonin?"

Hachiro answered her with a rhetorical question and a smirk.

"If we're found out we will be declared as cheating."

"Cheating in an event as small as the chunin exams would be bad for the reputation of the village."

"So? Just don't get caught."

"So, what's the reason behind this?"

Terumi Mei sighed slightly, even though she didn't know what her task was, she already knew it was going to be one she disliked.

Unfortunately, she didn't have any status in Kumogakure and had already said she would do whatever was required of her during her stay, as long as it didn't involve directing acting against Kirigakure.

"On the surface, you are going as a deterrent to other countries, but really you are going to go get something from Konoha."

He said pretending to be mysterious,

"As for what it is, you will be getting, I will tell you when the time comes."

"Are you going with her?"

Samui locked onto the keypoints of information she was really concerned about.

The new system would require for a Jonin leading one to three genin to head to Konohagakure.

Didn't that mean they would be travelling together along with easy to deceive kids?

"I have to go on this trip for personal reasons as well. Don't be jealous, okay?"

He lowered his head and gave Samui a peck on the cheek.

Terumi Mei and Mabui looked away off to the side to avoid this horrendous scene.

"Who is being jealous? Stop imagining whatever you want to believe."

She turned her head away from him and snorted to try to hide her embarrasment.

A few days later in Konoha.

In the highest level meeting room in the Hokage's residence, the elders were having their monthly get together.

"Hiruzen, Sunagakure has agreed to participate in the next chunin exam, we still need to wait for Kumogakure's answer."

Homura Mitokado said,

"But will this work out okay? This time trying to deter the other nations with the Uchiha clan geniuses might backfire. They should already know of our relationship with each other."

Koharu Utatane frowned.

The reason why Konoha had promoted this system several years back was so that they could deter the other villages and find out threats using their own geniuses.

They were confident in protecting their own village so it was more so a deterrence preventing those smaller villages and Kumo thinking they had become weak after the death of Minato and defection of Orochimaru.

This time around they were going to show off the 10 year old prodigy Itachi Uchiha.

Hiruzen lit his pip and puffed out a cloud of smoke.

"He's the best candidate we have, and none of the genin, even chunin are better than Itachi."

He wanted to use Itachi's overwhelming talent to tell other villages that Konoha was still the number one village in the world.

"This will increase the Uchiha clan's influence drastically. We have tried preventing this in the past, do you really think this is the best move we can make?"

"But he is from the Uchiha clan. Will this not expand Uchiha's influence?"

Koharu's words dripped with his thick dislike for the Uchiha.

He didn't want to give the Uchiha a good life and his position as an elder made that job so much easier.

"I can guarantee Itachi's loyalty. Like Shisui, he is undoubtedly a possessor of the will of Fire."

After hearing that the uchiha had been hit by Hiruzen's ultimate technique they dropped their doubts.

The 'Will of Fire' was Hiruzen's heaven-defying trump card.

Anyone hit by this ninjutsu becomes retarded.

"Father! The letter from the Land of Lightning has just arrived."

An anbu appeared in the conference room and handed a letter to the Hokage.

The current Head captain of the anbu, Shinnosuke Sarutobi. Codenamed 'Scarlet'.

Despite only being a jonin, he had obtained his position from a large amount of contribution and merit for Konoha.

His predecessor, the White Fang who had been the head captain of the Anbu had reached high-kage level.

To anyone in the know about it, they could tell something was up.

Hiruzen opened the letter and said to everyone present,

"Kumogakure has also agreed. They have sent the information on the team they've sent to participate."

"Anyone we know?"

The three elders were quite curious to who Kumogakure would send.

Not because they wanted to find out if their were any geniuses but because they wanted to make sure they didn't try anything that would cause them lose even more hair.

Hiruzen threw the letter into the middle of the table showing them it's contents.

Guide Jonin: Hachiro Raiden
