8 Betrothal

When Arthur heard that he could get anything he wanted, he at once thought of taking Cannibal and Dreamfyre. He knew Cannibal was a wild dragon who could not be tamed. There was a rumor that Cannibal existed even before the Targaryens came. Some said that Cannibal hated Targaryen dragons. He also knew that Dreamfyre was a she-dragon who had bonded with Rhaena Targaryen back in 32 AC. Arthur mainly wanted that dragon so that he could have dragon eggs for his own house.

[ A/N: There is a rumor that Dreamfyre laid the eggs of Drogo,Rhaegal,Viserion.]

They all sat in the Kings Chamber discussing about Arthur's wishes.

"So, is there anything you would like, Arthur?"- Viserys asked with a smile. He was happy seeing the blush of his daughter Rhaenyra. After all he wanted the Valhalla bloodline in the future generations. He had already made up his mind to betroth Rhaenyra to Arthur. So, he was happy that his daughter found someone he likes.

"I heard rumors that in Dragonstone there is a wild dragon known as Cannibal. If possible, I would like to own it. In the future when I create my own house, I would like to have Dreamfyre also. As she is a she-dragon, her eggs will continue my house's Dragon linage."- Arthur said with a smile. But his cruel words broke the heart of the14 year old Rhaenyra. Her eyes was blank for sometime. Her mind broke apart because she thought that if Arthur didn't ask for her hand now, he will not get a chance again. Sadly, that poor girl didn't understand that her father and mother had already planned to betroth her to Arthur. Her father wanted the Valhalla bloodline, the magic, the tool to create Valyrian Blade while her mother wanted nothing more than her happiness. Queen Aemma understood that Arthur would be a husband who would do anything for his family and the Targaryens.

"Are you sure? Cannibal is one fucking son of a bitch. In the past, many young dragons and their eggs were eaten by him. If you want I can give you other dragon eggs which you can bond upon hatching it."- Viserys urged Arthur . He was afraid that the Valhalla Blood would end with Arthur's madness.

"No. It's alright. If I want my own dragon, I would ride Cannibal and no other."- Arthur stated with a serious face. Seeing that he couldn't be convinced Viserys just nodded. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra became worried and depressed. She was worried that Arthur would get killed by Cannibal and depressed because Arthur didn't want her hand in marriage. Seeing her behavior, Arthur just shrugged,' She is still a brat after all. Her behavior had a massive change due to the hatred and betrayal she faced from Alicent.'

"You know, I was thinking, why don't our family reunites together again? In the past, Valyrian's stood together. My cousin Rhaenys married Lord Corlys Velaryon to keep the Valyrian blood pure. Even in the Targaryens, incest is often used to keep the bloodline pure. Aegon the Conqueror married his two sisters to rule the whole world. So, I was thinking if our house could become one. My Rhaenyra is off marriageable age. You have also reached marriageable age. If we create a marriage alliance, both of our family is sure to prosper. What do you say about it?"- Viserys impatiently asked Arthur who just frowned a little. Arthur couldn't think to marry this early. Moreover, although he did like Rhaenyra, but she was only 14. He couldn't think about taking her virginity.

"You would marry your precious daughter to a lord who has no land? House Valhalla has ceased to exist. I am it's last member. The members of my house who evacuated Valyrian Freehold back in those days couldn't bring any dragons with them as those dragons were too prideful. My family remained all these years hiding from the light. They didn't want the world to know about them as if they feared to be in limelight. Besides, what would your people say, what would your so called 'Hand' say about Rhaenyra's marriage with a lord who has nothing."- Arthur questioned King Viserys narrowing his eyes.

" I am the king, I don't have time to think about that other people says. All I think about is the welfare of Targaryen Kingdom. Besides, I plan to make you the Lord of Dragonstone. Dragonstone was the castle which our ancestors, Valyrians built. So, if someone questions about claim, you have a claim."- Viserys answered which shocked Arthur.

Arthur had his eyes widen. He didn't think Viserys would give him that land but he also knew that this would make his relation with Daemon hostile. Daemon wanted nothing more than to be the heir. Now that Baelon is born, he can't inherit Iron Throne anymore. Arthur began a plan to make Daemon a good friend and loyal brother.

" I heard that only the prince of Dragonstone, the heir to your throne can earn it. The heir will then rule Dragonstone proving his worth to rule the Seven Kingdoms."- Arthur said calmly.

" I will just change the rule that there would be no title as 'Prince of Dragonstone'. Daemon is my problem. You do not need to think about it. He is my commander of the watch now. Although I do hope that you keep Baelon in Dragonstone for some years. I want you to teach him fight and magic if possible."- King Viserys said to Arthur with a smile. The last part gained the astonishment of his wife and daughter.

Arthur also was surprised that Viserys would go so far from him. Although Arthur did know that in the future Robert Baratheon would forsake the title of 'Prince of Dragonstone'. So he didn't pay any mind.

" You asked me how I knew about the prophecy. Do you want to listen now?"- Arthur asked Viserys who was not happy seeing Arthur avoid the topic. Seeing Arthur again avoiding the topic of marriage, Rhaenyra who had hope became hopeless again. She reminded herself countless times to act like a princess and to regain her cold demeanor. Sadly, in front of Arthur she couldn't just do it.

" I wanted to know about it tomorrow. Speak about it then."- Viserys told Arthur in an amusing manner. He was always interested in the prophecy.

" You already got the message from Aegon about the promised child. I know about all of it because of my dreams. As I have the blood of a top house from Old Valyria, I could see the whole truth behind it. Aegon couldn't see the whole truth and future Targaryens lost their way around the prophecy. The promised child would be born from your blood. It's true. He would try to unite the people of seven kingdoms to fight the white walkers, the cold creatures that Aegon mentioned in the Dagger. But do you know that there is actually no need for the promised child to come? The leader of white walkers, Night King it can be killed. White walkers are easily killed by Valyrian Blades and Dragon glass weapons and Fire. As long as we have dragons, white walkers and the night king is nothing. If I strike now, I can kill it because now it doesn't have that much army. I am saying all this because when the promised child comes, there are no Targaryens and Dragons remaining. The promised child doesn't even wish to continue his own bloodline. In the end, pure Valyrian Bloodline doesn't exist anymore. Bastards and the people of Lys aren't true Valyrian like us. This is why I want to prevent that damned future."- Arthur stated all this with a serious face. If he was not serious, Viserys would have thought he was lying. But suddenly Viserys started questioning him,"How do you know all this? Will the promised child come any time soon? Will the so called 'Night King' attack anytime soon? Did the Targaryens and our dragons end because they couldn't prevent the attack of it?"

Arthur knew that the King would have many questions. He was already prepared. Even the Queen and Rhaenyra wanted to ask questions. But he stopped them by raising his hand a little.

" The night king and white walkers would not come now. The promised child would come after 175 years. The night king and the promised child would fight after 199 years. The reason why I am saying that it is not necessary for him to come is because it would not be him who would kill the Night King. Rather it would be a girl who had strived to become a warrior since she was a kid. As for why the Targaryens and their dragons ended, it was because of a civil war between your family."- Arthur stated calmly while Viserys was sweating due to the mention of civil war between family members. He and his wife looked towards rhaenyra and their son Baelon. Seeing this, Arthur just laughed lightly. His laugh caused them to become embarassed.

"Don't worry. I changed all of your fates. Let's just say I couldn't watch your family suffer. Moreover all the dragons would die by killing themselves and so would the Targaryens. A few that that is chained at Dragon's pit, would be killed by smallfolks due to the encouragement of a certain 'dog'. If I didn't intervene, the Queen and your boy would have died which ultimately resulted in the civil war. Without the Dragons and magic, we,Valyrians are nothing. Don't ask me what happened because I would not tell you. It is one of the hateful visions that I saw. But know this, if a civil war does come, I would save the dragons and those Targaryens that are just and kind. I will punish those who are at fault. This is one of the reason I want you to keep a good relation with your brother,Daemon."- Arthur calmly said all these to the king's family while the King was terrified by his calmness.

' How can he be so calm seeing all of this? My ancestors spoke that dreams brings disasters and madness. How does he still have his conscious?'- Viserys thought in his mind.

"Thank you Arthur. I can never repay you. Even when we don't have relation among ourselves, you still want to save us. But my proposition stays the some. I want to make you the Lord of Dragonstone. As for keeping Daemon in check, he is staying as the commander of the watch for now. But I want to ask you one thing. Was there anyone who made us go into civil war?"- Viserys said to Arthur while narrowing his eyes when talking about the last part.

Hearing that, Arthur smiled in his mind. 'Here goes Otto. You're not destroying the relationships among the Targaryens anymore'. Arthur already planned to kill Lord Otto stealthily. But now, the opportunity was given in a silver platter. But Arthur was thinking about Alicent. He was thinking should he kill Alicent or keep her in control. If she could not be the queen of Iron Throne, there will be no problems. In the end, he had another plan for Alicent.

"well, the one who put all you into a civil war was none other than your 'favored hand', Lord Otto. He planned all of that. He feared the Targaryen rule and destroyed it eventually. The thing I can propose to you is removing Lord Otto for some reason and appoint Daemon as your hand. With that, you could handle your brother. After all, in my vision, I saw Daemon was a good guy. He never thought of killing you. As a commander of the watch, I think Daemon is doing a good job. Soon, all problems within Kings Landing would diminish. Sadly, Lord Otto doesn't want that. Because it would make him losing money."- Arthur said to Viserys while adding some lies so that the King gets enraged and kicks Otto away. The plan was successful. Now Viserys was thinking about it.

"Alright. I will think about your words. From now on, you shall be the lord of Dragonstone and marry my Daughter Rhaenyra. I can rest assured seeing her getting married to a capable man. I shall announce my daughter's marriage to you and your lordship in the upcoming feast and meeting for my son's birth. If possible, I want you to create some Valyrian blades though it would mostly be within capable men."- King Viserys told Arthur in a warming manner.

" I am honored, your grace. But can the marriage wait until Rhaenyra becomes 16? She can stay in Dragonstone with me. I want her to get comfortable with me so that there is a better understanding between us. It would help us in our future married life."- Arthur said to viserys while looking at Rhaenyra. Her face was glowing with happiness now. She was delighted that she was betrothed with her crush, Arthur. Ever since she became 12 years old, she got many marriage proposals. One of them was from House Velaryon which their father was considering for her. She thanked the Gods that she was to be married to Arthur. Although Arthur did say that he would marry her when she turns 16 but she had no problem in marrying Arthur.

So, Arthur became the Lord of Dragonstone and got betrothed with the princess of Seven Kingdoms, Rhaenyra. He will soon go to Dragonstone to tame Cannibal and give him a new name. It was because that dragon's name wasn't Cannibal but people called it Cannibal due to its nature. He also got the Dragon Dreamfyre which would give him Eggs.
