23 23. Smithing

"Actually Harry, it's a sacrificial ritual. The more you want Hermione to gain, the more you have to lose it. This is also why I asked you about your powers. I do have an idea now and I think we can perform this ritual.

For example; if you want Hermione to have 5% of your occlumency power, then you will have to lose 20% of it. Now normally this is a very high price to pay for anyone as the receiver's talent also matters in this moreover the results are temporary, maximum for a period of one year.

The condition is that both parties have voluntarily decided to do this. There can be no deception as you can't deceive magic. Moreover, both the parties will have a link between them, which will make the receiving party become loyal to the giving party." Mother explained everything in great detail.

"Okay mom. can you tell me which book details about this ritual? I have to let Hermione and her parents understand everything."

"That is what you should do but unfortunately you will not find any book on this. I learned this from one of Salazar's tests."

"It's alright, I will explain everything clearly to them.

but this reminds me of a problem? "

"What problems?"

"There is no way to copy enchanted books, they resist all magic. Moreover the school gives too many assignments, which for me in particular will be a complete waste of time. Well, except for increasing my writing speed as well as improving my calligraphy.

I was thinking about making some enchanted quills that would take notes, write homework and assignments, as well as copy books and notes."

"Hmm. Your idea has merits. Let me think about it."

"No mom, I'll complete it myself." I said not wanting to depend on her for everything.

"Alright, good luck then."

"Thanks mom. I will be going now."

From the trunk, I directly went to the Gringotts' vault no. 9. Gathering all the required books, I started reading them, devouring all the knowledge as fast as I can. Goblins have extensively researched this subject and have a vast amount of knowledge recorded in books but there are some problems.

Due to the internal division of goblin society, the truly precious knowledge has always been passed down from person to person. That means not all knowledge is recorded in books. And even among the recorded knowledge, much has been recorded in goblin tongue, which I have not learned yet.

Still, I was able to gather all the knowledge I needed right then... Forging the occlumency rings was never my only intention. I had two other ideas but I didn't want to blow my horn in advance...

I made my way to the smithy, where Rognuk had already prepared all the metals. On my first try at smithing, I spent 4 hours and failed miserably but I was calm and composed. After obtaining the system's reward, I knew where I went wrong and felt like I had practiced it a lot of times.

On my second try at it, I was able to make a ring of inferior quality in 3 hours. It was of inferior quality as it could only block about 6-7 attacks.

I tried again after the system's reward and this time I made the ring in only 1 hour. It was even of superior quality, able to block 12-13 attacks.

After that I made three more rings for the Grangers, all of the best quality. They would be able to block 15 attacks from someone of my caliber. In the process, the system also granted me additional in depth knowledge of smithing rings and this is exactly what I needed.

After spending nearly 10 hours in the smithy, it was already bright outside. Looking at time, it was already 8 in the morning. Cleaning myself with magic, I went to meet Bogrod.

"Lord Potter.. Please sit.."

"Bogrod, If I want to sell the products made by me through you, what kind of deal can I get? " I asked directly without beating around the bush.

"What things do you want to sell Lord Potter? "

"Occlumency Rings of the best quality."

"The best quality!! " My words shocked him greatly as there are not many goblins that can make these rings of best quality, and those who can, do not waste their time making these rings and focus on more rare products.

"Lord Potter, We can give you 5000 galleons for one ring." Bogrod said with a straight face.

"NO" I also answered in one word.

"Then Lord Potter, please say how much do you want for one? "

"Cost plus 90% of the profit you make on its sale."

"Lord Potter, this is not how you do business."

"That is what I wanted to tell you at your first offer, Bogrod. This is not how business is done."

"Alright, we will give you 6500 galleons for one."

"Look Bogrod, I don't have much time to waste. I can simply sell these after making some connections in Hogwarts. I want cost plus 70% profit made on its final sale, this is my final offer. Take it or leave it." I said firmly.

"You drive a hard bargain Lord Potter. Alright, it's a deal."

"Good, now prepare a meeting room for me. I want my guest to pass through Thief's Downfall. I also want a bottle of flushing draught prepared. The meeting time is at 4 pm."

"Alright, It will be done."

"Also Bogrod, Prepare a ritual chamber for me. I need to use it after about an hour."

Getting Bogrod's agreement, I took my mom's trunk and directly went to Hermione's home.
