2 Chapter 2 - In Harry Potter

"Great, that's the best choice you've ever made in your life! Or should I say death? Either way, let's work some minor stuff out before I revive you."

The voice said with a hint of excitement in its tone.

It was clearly enjoying this a lot more than it should, like a child that had gotten a new toy to enjoy watching.

'Like what?'

The girl asked— unsure as to what else had to be discussed.

"Like what world you will be revived in obviously? I can't just throw you into a random world you don't know about now can i? Where is the fun in that."

The voice wasn't wrong— throwing the girl into a world she had no idea about would most likely lead to her dying an early death.

Or struggling a lot to get by, even with the powers it would grant her.

Which would be boring for the voice— since its intention was to watch her and have fun with what she would do.

So it needed to send her somewhere she would have the ability to adapt to.

As such, it spoke once more.

"After skimming through your memories, I can see the thing you have the most information about is the world of Harry Potter. So I will send you to a world based on that."

The girl was at first surprised— opening her eyes widely at the fact that this being just skimmed through her mind in mere seconds.

All without her permission.

But it was, after all, a being that claimed to be the darkness— so she didn't linger on that surprise for much longer.

'What do you mean based on it? And how is it even possible to do something like that? Isn't it a fictional world?'

Asked the girl, with an interested tone.

The voice after all wasn't wrong— Harry Potter was one of the few movies she saw to the end. And she even had the chance to watch it multiple times over her short lifespan.

It's not like she knew everything about it— but she knew most of the important stuff that she could get by without issue if she was sent into a world similar to it.

That was why she was interested in the idea.

Plus she wanted to meet some of her favorite characters from the movies— like Luna, Fleur, and so on.

"Of course it's possible. Anything is possible really. Every world could exist because the multiverse is limitless and ever-shifting. Stories of it from your world are just one form of that ever-shifting imagination of the multiverse."

It wasn't a very good explanation— but it was better than nothing she supposed.

So she didn't linger on something she had no power over knowing anymore and instead moved on to something else.

The details.

'OK, and what do you mean based on that?'

"Well, think of it like this. Even if the world exists— the second you're born in it, it would no longer be that world. So while the story would generally be the same, you simply existing in that world would change things."

'I suppose that makes sense, I'm fine with that as long as I can still use the information I have to help me.'

She said to herself— but the voice was also able to hear it.

"Great, I would ask you how exactly you want to be born and such, but I'm not going to do that. I will leave it up to chance to determine how you are born."

Said the voice with an amused tone— it seemed to enjoy messing with her new life that she was going to have.

"Oh one last thing before I send you off, I will give you a system!"

The voice said in excitement but was instantly met with denial from the girl's head.

'No thanks.'

The girl had no reason to want a system, she had seen stories with these things called a system, and often not, they were more annoying than they were useful.

Sometimes the system would force the host to do tasks or kill them, which she hated.

Sometimes the system would have a personality and the ability to speak to the host, which often led to weird dynamics and troublesome conversations.

Which she hated.

And sometimes the system would outright try to betray or take over the host, which would just be bad in every sense of the word.

So she didn't want a system at all. Even if it may benefit her in the short run.

"Now now, let me explain what I mean before you deny it."

Said the voice to the girl before she could deny it any further.

"What I intend to give you isn't a system in the sense of the word. It's not like the type of system you see in those stories, it has no abilities, and can't do anything. The only purpose of the system is to record your skills, stats, and information so it's easier for you to understand."

Explain the voice to the girl who was still trying to process what that meant.

'So it's a system, but not?'

Said the girl confused as to what that meant— if it was just a way to track her information then wouldn't calling it a system be wrong?

"You're right, let's not call it a system. Let's call it an information bank, or information panel. It just shows you thing you earns yourself. No shop, no quests, no missions, no personality, none of that. Just a panel of information."

The way the voice explained it cleared up some of the confusion from her mind— a lot of it really.

She was more willing to have something like an information panel than something like a system because even she knew that she would forget stuff about herself over time.

It would be a good way to keep track of things, skills she knows, her physical stat, and so on.

'Ok, I'm fine with that as long as it doesn't become a problem later on. Is that all?'

She asked the voice.

She was growing impatient with all the talking— she had been here long enough and wanted to explore this new world the voice offered her the ability to explore.

Naturally, she wanted to go to it as fast as she could.

"I know you're impatient to go, and I am impatient to see what you will do when you do go, but we just have a few more things to work out. Like your name, what should it be?"

'It's possible to choose my name before I am even born, for myself?'

That was truly interesting she thought— how was it possible to influence what her name would be?

But then she remember that this being was able to literally revive her in another world, so doing that wouldn't be hard.

"Of course, just some minor mind messing, little influencing here and there, pretty easy stuff. Any opinion on your name?"

'If possible I want to keep the name Vixenne at the very least, it was the name my original parents gave me. And even if I can't remember their faces it should honor them. As for my last name, why don't you pick?'

The girl knew that her name didn't really have a cool ring to it like most reincarnated people's names. But she liked it— she liked it because of the emotions behind it, not the meaning.

As for her last name, she didn't really care about it since it changed often— so whatever name she got wouldn't matter to her.

"Ok, I will give you a last name then. Your name will be Vixenne Moonbringer. Because I like it."

The voice's reasoning was terrible, but the girl didn't actually care all that much about her last name.

Plus the name wasn't all that bad, so she just accepted it.

"One more thing before I send you there. Because of the power I'm going to grant you, your body wouldn't be able to handle it until you are 9 years old."

"As such, I will keep your body in a comatose state until then, in which you will be able to wake up and take over."

'What that's terrible. Wouldn't that mean I can be endangered without the ability to do anything about it?'

"You're a child, you wouldn't have the ability to do anything about it anyways. But don't worry, you won't be endangered, I'll make sure of it."

The girl couldn't help but shake her head in her mind at how carefree this being was, but she couldn't do anything about it.

So she simply accepted the fact.

'Ok.'

She replied without saying much more— feeling her mind growing hazy as she started to drift back off to sleep once more.

However unlike before it felt like a much deeper sleep, so deep in fact she couldn't feel anything else. See anything else.

The memories of the past didn't haunt her in this sleep. That was a good thing, at least for her.

"Off you go, have fun, my child."

Said the voice, as her mind completely fell asleep, and she disappeared from the darkness.
