4 The First Encounter

The Evans family lived in a typical middle-class house. It had a small garden and a pond giving a cozy feeling to the whole apartment. I was greeted with the beautiful figure of Carol Evans at the gate. She was mother to the Evans siblings and wife to Gregory. She was watering the plants and seemed quite unhappy due to the missing berries near the fence. But seeing me a smile bloomed on her face. She always invited me to their house. It didn't take a genius to realize that I was mistreated and had completely closed myself. She often pitied me and offered me some fruits and vegetables. But how can our great Snape be pitied by a muggle? And thus that fool always declined her. I never understand how Snape, who hated muggles to such an extent, fell in love with a muggle-born. Love works in a complex way and has resulted in many tragedies be it Dante and Beatrice be it Helen and Paris. One was innocent love, at first sight, one was lust or whatever you say. But Both didn't have a happy ending.

Mrs. Evans greeted me with a smile. She was the kind of neighborhood woman who always had a stock of candies in the kitchen. After a polite greeting & some small talk, we entered the house. There was nothing worth mentioning inside the house. But an ancient painting of a bearded person attracted me. At first, I just overlooked it as there is always a painting of a random person with a long beard in every British house. But something attracted me to him. He was standing tall and looked like an ancient knight, but the most shocking thing was the wand holder near his belt. At bottom of the painting, it was signed by Pyrhho. He was a famous painter in ancient times, but Carol just laughed it off saying it was a fake counterfeit. The muggles must have mistaken it but he can clearly feel a trace of magic in it. The magic must have preserved it and it didn't appear to be a painting of the 7th century.

I have always wondered how Lily learned that ancient magic that can silence the greatest dark wizard of an era for almost ten years. Though it was accompanied by sacrificing her own life, the light camp was already losing magicians and if only a single life can save all those tragedies isn't it efficient, Lily's last spell has always been a mystery in Harry Potter Series. In the end, it felt like Jk Rowling was running out of ideas and just stacked everything in the Power of Love. But is it really necessary to love to be strong?

After having lunch we waited for Gregory. Gregory was a lawyer and usually arrived home by early afternoon. But today he was unusually late. So I went home after waiting for some time. I also didn't forget to ask for some berries before leaving.

At home, I was again welcomed by the disgusting smell of beer. My mother was sleeping on the table and my father ( I will call him dog from now) was probably not at home. Though I wanted to be as silent as possible, my mother was a light sleeper for obvious reasons. She gave a vague smile seeing me, I sat down beside her and gave her some massage, and tell her about my day. She was very happy with my change and asked how were the Evans siblings. Her intentions were obvious and I played along with her despite knowing how far fetch the idea was. She already knew about my predecessor's one-sided love but didn't say anything knowing how shy Snape was. I gave her the berries, that I have borrowed. She didn't ask me where I got it may be it was quite obvious. After an hour the "Dog" came and our conversations needed to stop. The same routine carried on and the days went by.

It was the 25th of August and a professor was going to come to Cotswold Park to pick me and Lily Evans. We were going to Diagon Alley to buy our necessities before the new session starts. It will be my first glimpse into the magical world. Though it has been a month since my transmigration, I didn't feel anything different from my previous world. Mr dedicated and repeated exercise had made me quite fit, though my muscles are small they are strong. My control over magic has improved. I can feel the flow of my magic around my abdomen and heart. Though I cannot control it I think I can improve it after repeated trying. It was the only way, cause there was nobody who can teach for now. But apart from that I can't even do a simple spell like Lumos without a wand. Maan the fan fics are sure misleading.

My relationship with Evans's siblings has also improved. I went to their home almost every day. I also met Gregory the Evans family's bread earner. He is a chilled person and a crazy fan of football. I also brought my mother to their house. She was very happy seeing new faces apart from the dog. Gregory also proposed to file a PIL on that dog. But my mother rejected it saying that they needed to live together.

Though Gregory was confused he didn't think much of it. I also planned to do the same but hearing her I understood that the curse will take place if they live far away from each other. Making my mother almost a slave to that person. But this, also made my determination even firmer to kill that person.

It was 5 in the evening and I and Lily were standing at Cotswold Park with our respective family (the dog went missing). Then from nothing, a long-bearded man came out with old half-moon spectacles and a broken nose. He looked old, no he looked ancient. His blue glittering eyes scanned the surroundings with curiosity. It was my first meeting with Dumbledore. Noticing Dumbledore, I came out to shake his hands. Though I was poor I was still the heir to a noble house. I forwarded my hand for a handshake which Dumbledore took with a smile.

Gregory who was standing behind Snape was barely holding his laughter. The scene of an old man who was cosplaying as a wizard and an eleven years kid who was shaking his hands like he was the CEO of some billionaire company was surely not something you see every day.

Little did he know that this was the scene that will be later studied and painted by many wizards all over the world. This was the scene of a generational change. A scene where the greatest White Wizard handed over his baton to the generational prodigy Snape.
