Talk with Laena

The celebration for win in battle of Stepstones was huge and Daemon was happy with the recognition he got.While Corlys was just happy with Velaryons getting out of the problem.

Rhaenys actually became celebrity figure of sorts after her participation in the war.Many who had previously thought about how she should have been the Queen instead of Viserys,now only became further strengthened in their beliefs.

Therefore her supporting Rhaenyra only made them throw their lot with Rhaenyra.

Also Rhaenys actually was happy with recognition she got.While Eragon went to visit Laena and Rhaenys,Laena was happy to bond with Vhagar and took great pride in it,but Eragon knew this was a dragon to be underestimated after Vhagar was battle-hardened old she-dragon.

Eragon watched the so called Black queen being petted by Laena with Rhaenys and Rhaenyra watching from the side.Vhagar stood out from the other dragons of the Targaryen. With a big, hanging wattle, long spiky "hairs," and a droopy Basset Hound face.

Rhaenys seeing Eragon smiled and said"I didn't know you were visiting."

Eragon returned the smile and replied"Just wanted to congratulate you on your victory at the Stepstones."

Rhaenys nodded,while turning back to watch her daughter being comforting Vhagar,while Eragon with slight seriousness said"The bond between Vhagar and Laena is strongest I have seen."

Rhaenys really took pride hearing that and replied"My daughter is really strong and one of a kind."

Eragon nodded,but added"But be sure to warn her,that Vhagar is battle hardened dragon,who has very strong and brutal personality.So she is harder to control than any other dragon."

Rhaenys nodded seriously taking notes to tell her daughter about it,after all Eragon is a dragon rider himself and knew more about dragons than them.

While Rhaenyra questioned"When is the wedding?"

Rhaenys smiled and answered"28 days from now."

Rhaenys was reluctant about this marriage between Laena and Daemon,but with time agreed that Daemon was perhaps a better choice than some of the proposals that had come their way.

Corlys entered the dragon compound with a huge smile,he was really proud of his daughter bonding with Vhagar and he was happy about his wife getting recognition she deserved.

Also it helped House of Velaryon was now strong as ever after the battle in Stepstones and he had vist from Viserys just hours ago,who was trying to patch things up.Corlys took slight enjoyment in Viserys awkward behavior after all Viserys was ready to ignore his House plea.

Corlys smiled at Eragon and asked"If I knew you were coming,I would have asked Viserys to leave."

Corlys already lost respect for Viserys and he was even ready to leave for Middle-earth and join the ranks of the Teleri elves.He respected their clans since his grandfather told stories about them.

Eragon waved it off saying"No,it's best not to let those grievances fester and let others use that against you."

Corlys nodded,but soon changed topics"From what I here a new prince is about to be born."

Rhaenyra didn't have anything against his half brother,but he just reminded her of the fact her father slept with her friend just a weeks after her full blooded brother's death.

Eragon nodded and replied"Yes,Aegon II Targaryen.I have seen Otto subtly pointing at Aegon being the heir."

Corlys frowned hearing that and asked"Is Viserys a King or a puppet?"

Eragon nodded agreeing with Corlys and said"I am pretty sure he will push more when the time comes especially since Hightowers have lost of lot of influence and wealth because of Otto,so this would be his last chance to get everything back."

Rhaenyra hearing this said"So he is betting everything on Aegon sitting on the Throne."

Eragon nodded,while Corlys and Rhaenys agreed with Rhaenyra.
