Chapter 24: First Dungeon Dive

Arthur Leywin:

In the early morning, I collected everything we needed for the day. I brought extra healing potions in case of emergencies and bandages in case the potions were not enough.

I also brought Mind Potions if Bella somehow used magic. Although she had received a blessing and could easily navigate the first few floors, I did not want to take any risks and planned to assist her until she became familiar with fighting monsters.

Sylvie noticed the potion flasks almost falling out of my backpack and reassured me that Bella would be fine. Although I attempted to express my concerns, Sylvie cut me off and reminded me that I would be accompanying Bella on the upper floors. I agreed and replied, "Fine..."

But before leaving my apartment, I packed only twenty extra potions and realized I had no sword. However, I didn't worry, as I could use basic conjured swords on the upper floors. I still had to wait for a week for my custom sword to be finished.

After packing everything, I left my apartment and went to pick up Bella from the Stardust Garden for her first dungeon dive.

---

"Have you double-checked to make sure you have everything?" I asked Bella, who let out a sigh of frustration.

"I've already checked three times, and everything is in my backpack," she replied, sounding exhausted even before we entered the dungeon.

"Just one more quick check, please," I requested.

"Okay, I'll do it for the last time," she said as she searched through her backpack.

After she finished checking everything, we left the Stardust garden and headed towards the dungeon.

Walking down the stairs to the first floor, Bella tried her best to hold back her excitement to explore the dungeon, but it clearly showed on her face.

Grandpa even caught her one day sneaking out in the middle of the night just to go to Orario and become an adventurer early. Thankfully one of our neighbors saw it at told Grandpa.

Doesn't she know it's dangerous for a kid to become an adventurer?

'Papa...You and her are the same age,' Sylvie communicated through our mental connection.

'Yes, but mentally I am about twenty years older,' I responded.

'Most of the time, it doesn't seem like it,' Sylvie commented.

As we entered the first floor, I reminded Bella about the types of monsters we would encounter. "There are only two types of monsters on this floor," I informed her, "Kobold, which is a dog-headed creature, and Goblin, which is a green, plump humanoid monster with large eyes. They are considered the weakest monsters in the dungeon." I then went on to tell her about the third and rarest monster on this floor, the Jack Bird. It looks like a rooster with fluffy yellow-green feathers, and although it isn't aggressive, it is incredibly fast and runs away if it senses any enemies. "The drop item from the Jack Bird is worth at least 1,000,000 Valis," I mentioned. I also noted that Miss Eina had already taught Bella everything about the first floor, and I made a mental note to thank her for it.

"Have you ever seen a Jack Bird?" she asked, scanning the area for any sign of monsters.

"I haven't seen or heard of anyone finding one in the four years I've been here," I replied honestly.

There weren't many monsters spawning on the first floor, and many new adventurers being on the first floor didn't help. Thankfully we entered early in the morning before this floor got crowded, and Bella could fight most of the monsters that spawned without any issues.

'This floor is too easy for her. We should go down to the second or third floor so she at least has a challenge.' Sylvie said, and I was torn between agreeing and disagreeing because this was her first time in the dungeon and not anything else... I wasn't worried at all...

I sighed, "Bella, let's go down to the second floor." I told her and started walking towards the second floor with Bella flicking off the monster's blood from her blade and running to catch up with me.

I explained the second floor and the new monster that would appear after she caught up to me.

She faced a slight challenge from the dungeon lizards but quickly adapted and made fewer mistakes over time.

It's impressive, considering it was her first time in the dungeon. The speed at which she adapts makes it so she can become one of the best adventurers in the future.

Hopefully, she won't need anyone's help to acquire a particular skill, especially if that person is a boy.

I unintentionally scared Bella and the monsters on the floor with my killing intent that I didn't know I was releasing until Sylvie told me.

---

We walked up the stairs back to the surface after a long battle.

The blessing of a Goddess made her much stronger than an ordinary mortal, enabling her to fight for a longer time without getting exhausted.

Comparing it to our sparring session just last week, she got tired after two hours of training. However, now she can fight for hours before feeling exhausted.

We decided to sell the Magic Stones at a later time and walked back to the Stardust Garden, with Bella telling me about her fight as if I hadn't been present during it.

Now I just have to make sure she doesn't begin dating until she reaches the age of forty.

Sylvie questioned, "Isn't that too old?" while giving me a deadpan look.

I replied, "No, it's not too old, and the rule applies to you as well."

"..." She was left speechless, unsure of how to respond.
