21 Special Assignment

"I'm gonna be needing your blood, bud," I said rather bluntly as I barely noticed Mitsuki's body tense up.

"Was that a--" I quickly interrupted her predictable question, "It wasn't a threat..." I spoke in exasperation.

She seemed to ease up ever so slightly, however, she continued to have a confused expression on her face.

I remained silent and practically unmoving in thought for a few moments before shrugging and speaking.

"You see, I have this pet of mine that is fed by blood and it seems to respond well to yours," I explained calmly, the explanation not shaking away her confused expression.

Seeing her expression, I sighed in annoyance and then reached under my bed, secretly taking the egg out of the system as I pulled it out from under the bed.

She wouldn't think much of it despite its strange tastes. Not to mention that this egg provided a good bridge between us that I could use to get close to her and potentially Orochimaru.

There was only a minor risk in showing her, but if I didn't take any risks, I wouldn't be able to do anything at all.

And, overall, the rewards outweighed the risks by a lot.

First of all, I get an easy way to raise my egg which will most likely become some kind of snake. Second of all, I get a really easy free path into the lives of Mitsuki and Orochimaru.

Third, and the most important of them, I potentially get the chance to use, see, or get some of Orochimaru's experiments. Even go to their base if I got close enough.

Not to mention how, in regards to the third one, I could also maybe learn many things from both of them or steal some research for my own gain.

Overall, letting her see the egg and risking what comes of that, was a good investment.

She seemed surprised, "That's... That's an egg..." She muttered in confusion as I nodded.

"That would be correct. This is an egg that I found somewhere in a nearby forest and I have been raising it since then," I said as Mitsuki leaned in to feel the egg curiously.

The moment her hand landed atop the egg, she gained a surprised look as she felt its heart beat in response to her and felt her arm itself be slightly pulled in.

"This is quite curious. It seems to be reaching out to me..." She spoke in a tone of wonder as I nodded.

"See, you have a connection to it. It absorbs blood and other energies to grow and is influenced by its environment. Which is why I need you to feed it decently, since it seems to only have a taste for your and my blood."

She hummed lowly, "Interesting, indeed. So you want me to let it consume some of my blood and assist in its development...?" She inquired.

"Yep."

She cupped her chin in thought, seeming to consider something before nodding as well.

"I suppose that I could agree to that. But what do I get out of this?"

I stared blankly in thought for a moment.

If I knew practically anything about Mitsuki, it was that she craved knowledge and was a lifeform that constantly learned.

So I could basically cheat her into it.

"A deeper understanding of biological subjects, environmental influences, an understanding of parental relations, the raising of an infant species, and many other very useful kinds of knowledge. Not to mention gaining experience in cooperation when raising an infant!"

My words were spoken with an extra layer of charisma and trickery as I barely noticed Mitsuki's eyes shining with curiosity.

"So I can observe its growth? Even assist in it?" She inquired as I nodded, "Of course."

"Alright, then, I agree," She agreed swiftly as I stretched out my arm and grabbed her hand for a handshake.

"Wonderful, Mitsuki, now cut yourself."

I grabbed a large bottle from behind me and placed it in front of her.

Funnily enough, Mitsuki didn't seem confused by my statement at all and, taking it in stride, hovered her hand over the bottle.

Without even a moment of thought, Mitsuki pulled out a kunai and swiftly cut herself, the blood quickly falling into the open bottle.

I smiled openly about my success.

After a couple of minutes of blood pouring from Mitsuki's injury, the snake girl pulled her hand away from the now-full container and gained a muted expression of pain.

Sensing an opportunity, I pulled a roll of bandages out of the cupboard and then gently grabbed Mitsuki's bleeding hand.

"Thank you, Mitsuki. Let me help you..." I thanked her as I began wrapping the bandages around her injured hand.

"Here you go... And done," I finished with the bandages and turned back to the bottle of blood.

Mitsuki felt the bandage around her hand for a moment before smiling and turning to me, "Thank you," She thanked me shortly.

"I should be the one thanking you for all this blood. I won't, but I should," I chuckled at my own joke as Mitsuki's smile dropped.

Noticing her expression change, I quickly spoke, "Joke! Remember, not everything is literal," I sighed as Mitsuki gained an apologetic look, "I see, apologies for that."

"It's fine, I'll forgive you since you're a dear friend. Anyways, now that that's over, we should head to the academy," I said in a manipulative manner as I stood up.

I had checked the clock and realized that the academy classes would begin in but a couple of minutes, which was why I needed to end this quickly.

"Why don't you head to the academy while I pack my things?" I suggested as Mitsuki nodded and made her way up out of the room.

After making sure that she was away from the house, I stood up from my bed and scanned my room for anything I would need.

'So I need weapons, medical stuff, my fuinjutsu equipment, and then some food just because...' I thought to myself as I attempted to move forward only to suddenly feel a wave of exhaustion.

I felt a drain on the core of my chakra network within my gut from a source within me, and then I smiled.

"It's growing..." I muttered with a large grin as I happily began stuffing things into my scrolls for a few minutes.

Finally, after a short time, I finished gathering everything I needed into discrete-looking scrolls upon my waist.

With a smile on my face, I quickly walked out of the house and swiftly made my way toward the academy grounds.

Soon after, I entered the academy doors and, after a few seconds of relaxed walking, entered the classroom.

"You're late, Akuto. We're going out to the field for a briefing right now. Get in line," The teacher spoke in annoyance as I did as she said.

I barely caught sight of Boruto near the end of the line and made my way up behind the unsuspecting girl.

"Hey, what's up?" I greeted nonchalantly, accidentally startling the girl as she clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Ugh, you scared me. Where were you, anyways?" She questioned in a tone of irritation as the class began making their way out to the yard.

With an honest smile, I gave my excuse.

"Well, I trapped myself in jail because I thought a ghost was possessing me, then an old man recruited me to fight a bisexual vampire with a hard-on for his step-bro's descendants. I killed him by the way and then fathered a tomboy who went to jail and fought a gay priest who used to be the zesty vampire's boy toy."

She stared my way unblinkingly for a moment before slowly turning away and leaving me to myself.

It was simply mind-boggling how easy it was for me to get people to stop bothering me. Just say anything weird and they're out.

I quietly chuckled to myself as the entire class found themselves in the yard out in the back of the academy.

When we all stepped out onto the grass, we were greeted by the sight of Naruko herself standing out there as well.

'Oh, right, she did say that she would see us off, didn't she?' I noted to myself as she clapped for our attention and began speaking.

"Alright, guys, I'm gonna be telling you what you're going to be doing today. So just relax and listen," She shouted into the crowd, multiple excited whispers overcoming all the students due to the Hokage being here.

Right next to me was Sarada who was currently hyperactively fangirling in quite an annoying manner, "It's Hokage-sama...! I didn't know she would be the one to see us off!" She whispered to the fatty next to her.

"Yeah, well she didn't need to be here..." Boruto whispered in a grumbling manner as Sarada gasped angrily.

Naruko continued to spit out boring word after boring word as I turned my attention to the two girls' conversation for entertainment.

"I'm not salad...! My name is Sarada..."

What is going on...?

"But you are...! Sa-ra-da, Sa-la-d. Same thing...!"

She makes a good point.

"Ew, salad is gross..."

Of course, you say that you down-syndrome orangutan.

"Of course, you say that you overgrown thumb...!"

Ayo?

Looks like she's been picking things up from her time with me. Ahh, the student becomes... a more skilled student.

"Do not speak to Cho Cho in such a manner, scoundrel...!"

What are you, a knight?

"Oh, yeah, well--"

I soon got sick of their bickering and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath as I concentrated within.

The three girls continued their useless chatter and Naruko continued her speech as I used this time to peer into myself.

After around a few seconds of concentration, I could finally visualize the strange organism leeching upon my chakra.

'You're getting so big... It won't take long, now...' I thought to myself in an excited tone, 'Just a little longer and then I use the power...'

The odd leech-like organism looked like a blobby and ethereal mass of colours ranging from white to gold and even had hints of green.

It shifted and swirled and pulsed in a soulful display that seemed to mimic my heartbeat.

It almost seemed as though it was a direct reflection of my own soul.

Wow. Come to think of it, there have been a ton of things lately that mimicked my heartbeat, huh?

'Anyways, this should be ready soon. Making it an organism that grows from me is cheaper than just making it on the spot...'

Suddenly my concentration was shattered when a hand landed on my shoulder and spoke a few words.

"Hey, Akuto? You guys are heading out for the survival mission now," I heard Naruko say from behind me as I turned to her.

"Oh yeah, sorry, I was lost in thought. I'll be off now," I stood up from the ground and prepared to catch up with the rest of the class only to be stopped by Naruko.

"Wait a second, Akuto, I wanted to say goodbye..." She said in a sad voice as she pulled me into a tight hug.

I could feel her bountiful breasts press against my chest and her face leaning into the side of my neck as I gave an inconspicuous response.

"I'll miss you..." I stated with false emotion as she pulled back and gave me a kiss on my left cheek.

"I won't be seeing you for a while. Please stay safe out there until Sayuri comes to get you, okay?" She demanded forcefully as I nodded and wrapped my arms around her.

"I will. You stay safe too!" I spoke in a childish manner, discreetly sneaking in a barely-noticeable ass grab as I pulled away.

After a few moments of saying goodbye, I finished my business with her and ran back to the class which was in the forest by now.

After a couple of minutes, the large group found themselves rather far from the village and the teacher finally had us stop with a nod of satisfaction.

"We'll be starting the assignment, now. You will be here for a couple of days, but don't worry, I, and a few other shinobi have seals placed to detect if one of you is about to die..." She reassured everyone as we all stood by.

From what I heard while I was keeping track of the thing inside me, the main purpose of this trip was to serve as a way for us to get used to being out in the wild and surviving.

It's kind of like the Forest of Death from the OG Naruto. Except it's in a normal forest and we will be saved by teachers if we're about to die.

We're around 30 minutes away from the main village as well, so it's pretty isolated too.

It's just an exhibition to get us to survive on our own and see what we do. So it should be easy to wait until Sayuri gets here.

Suddenly, the main teacher clapped her hands.

"Your objective; survive! Now, begin!" With that final statement, she vanished.

"Come with me, Cho Cho. Let's find a good spot!" I faintly heard Sarada and Cho Cho run off into the woods as most of the class scattered throughout the forest.

Boruto approached me, "Uh, you wanna partner up or something...?" She inquired quietly as I shook my head.

"Nah, I'mma do my own thing," I spoke in a relaxed manner as she shrugged and turned to a spiky-haired girl and a pale girl.

"Okay then, I'm gonna be with Shika and Inori. See ya, I guess..." She stated nonchalantly with a wave as her group ran into the forest as well.

Now, the only person left in the original spot was me.

"Alright, let's get this thing started!" I said without worry as I began walking forward calmly.

However, I suddenly froze in place when I heard a notification sound ring out and a red screen appear before me.
