14 13. Family

After walking out of the arena I waited some time outside for Fuegoleon. In the meantime, I was spinning my spear with my fingers, but I didn't care if someone accidentally was blown away by the strong wind currents.

There even were some girls who tried to get to me but because of the strong wind, they couldn't come to close without getting blown away.

Damn, that's funny.

Anyways, ignoring the death glares I get from the males, which I give them back hehe, and the blushing faces of the girls and even older women, I waited some more when I finally saw Fuegoleon coming out of the arena and looking around. I just stand there waiting till he sees me.

Now seeing where I am he quickly walks in my direction and is now standing in front of me.

He is tall, but I am a bit taller than him.

"Yo firehead, took you some time didn't it?" I said with a smirk.

"Stop calling me firehead." He said with a serious look.

"Okay~ but what do we do now hm? And, where are the other participants you choose?" I mean he was in there for some time so there should be more.

"There are no others. I didn't found anyone good enough." He said.

"And now, I will lead you to our headquarters so you can familiarize yourself. Ehh, follow me- what's your name again?" He asked while scratching his neck with no changes in his expression.

"Ether, just call me Ether." Somehow... this name, it just doesn't sound cool anymore. But why? I don't know, at first it sounded cool and fitting for me, but now, using it in a real-world while speaking with real people is somehow, embarrassing. Thinking about it, some noble name would sound cooler. At first I had one in my mind as I first named myself, but over the years I forgot it.

Maybe I should change my name?

(That was me indirectly starting a vote. What should I do? Change his name? Or just continue as Aether?

Personally, I don't like the name anymore but if you don't want to change it then so be it. I also need a name recommendation, something noble would be cool.)

"Hm, never heard a name like that before. Anyway, Ether, follow me." He said while turning around.

Well, you are the only Fuegoleon I ever heard of too!

After that, he led me to the headquarters of the Crimson Lion and I have to say, it looks neat.

(I don't really know how it looks like, just that it is a palace, so I'll do it like I imagine it to be. This will probably happen more often.)

"Captain!" A man, I think his name was Porte or Korte or something like that.

"Forte," Fuegoleon says in response.

Ah, yes, Forte.

Forte is a young man with short, shaggy orange hair and a scar beneath his right eye. Looks cool.

He looks at me while still being in a bowing position.

"Is... is this the only one, if I may ask." He asks Fuegoleon, probably curious about why I am the only one with him.

"Yes he's the only one. His name is ehhh, Ether? Ah Yes, it's Ether. He has astounding talent and power for a young mage like him. And after seeing his show at the exam, no one looked good enough anymore to be worthy of being taken in our squad.

"Ohh~ stop~ You make me blush~." I said while covering my face with my hands, acting like I am embarrassed by what he said.

They just look at me without saying anything or any facial reaction.

"Geez, you're no fun." I said, now back to my old self.

"Anyways, Forte. I want you to lead him around here and show him where he will stay at. I will go and meet Mereoleona. Now, goodbye." Be said as he left.

"Yes captain!" Forte said as he saluted and then turned to me.

"You, are you a noble?" He asks.

"Why would you want to know that?" I asked back with narrowed eyes. In the years I spent in this world, I often came across people like that. Judging me because I am poor or something. For me, it was completely irrelevant, but then there were the kids from the orphanage. In these years I came to love them as a real family. So every time someone said something like that, to my family, and hurt them with that, I got angry. And oh boy, these people could forget about walking for a week. Maybe a bit brutal but you know, everything for family *Plays the fast and the furious: Tokyo drift - Bandoleros*

Ok enough of that.

"Just wanted to ask, because, you know, there are some people that don't like anything lower than noble." He said.

"Oh yeah, I know it well. And to answer your question, I am from Haage." I said to him.

"Uhhh, Haage. That's where this giant skull lies right? That from the demon. I have been there before, for a mission." He said while looking up melancholic in the sky.

"Enough chit-chat. Can you lead me around now? Or I will do it myself." I said, interrupting his flashbacks.

"Don't be rude to your senpai. Understand? Ok now follow me." He said as the serious look got back on his face.

"*sigh*" I hope not all of them are like that.
