Her Condition

I heard Kelly and Charlotte—my other best friend—burst into waves of laughter.

"HAHAHAHA!" They both cachinnated in unison.

"What's the matter with those witches?"

"Aria, it's still 6 AM in the morning. Our prank succeed!" Charlotte said and continued laughing.

"W-what the?" I froze as I stopped applying shampoo on top of my head when I heard what just Charlotte said. I can hear they're both catching up with their breath, gasping for air after having tsunamis of laughter.

"Fine," I shouted from the bathroom. "Don't ask me to treat you for launch break," I added, smirking.

I resumed taking a bath. I have no choice, too. I am covered up with water, completely wet. I think it's not bad to wash early. I'll just review my past notes so that I have nothing to work on later. Besides, it's best to make my mind active, now that I have so much more to think of. Especially that guy from my dreams who drives me nuts and keeps on bugging my peaceful dreams.

I think I just wasted my dream, for I didn't manage to ask the guy's name. However, I understand that I really cannot do lucid dreaming and that I have no control of it. There's actually no way.

I shrugged, completely clearing off my thoughts as I opened the shower and clean the excess soap from my body.

I should have started my day happily, but those loads of witches just destroyed the half of it and the other half was from the mysterious guy who appeared in my dreams.

Once I finished taking a bath, I finally came out of the bathroom. I can see them in my peripheral vision, and I noticed that they're staring at me, so I walked straight toward my room and didn't pay much attention to them at all.

Anyway, I am a college student. BA Psychology here at Hudson East University, also a boarding school. So great because I didn't have to travel a long way from home to school every day since we have dorms here. Unfortunately, I had to stay with my silly best friends since then and receive pranks as my morning routine and breakfast.

Aria, sunny side up or scrambled egg?!" Charlotte shouted from our dorm's miny kitchen.

"Sunnyside up, please. And oh, make it half cook!" I bellowed. Now we looked like an armed force throwing missiles of words consecutively, because of how high-volumed our voices were.

I hoped our dorm neighbors won't think that they've been colonized by monster-shouting enemies.

Charlotte is the one who usually cooks because both Kelly and I just cannot. The last time I tried, we can't recognize the egg and hotdogs because of how burnt it was. While Kelly's cooking is one of a kind. There's nothing to doubt at all. She just actually almost burned the whole kitchen and made Charlotte call the fire hotline, but then thankfully, Kelly killed the fire immediately. The reason for it? Well, Kelly enjoyed so much scrolling through her social media feed. But then, so much engrossed that she has forgotten that she's actually cooking.

Make sense for Charlotte since she took the culinary course. While Kelly and I took the psych. Charlotte found a way to practice for her culinary tests and that is our kitchen. And every time she practices cooking, we get to eat her masterpieces.

When I finally finished my morning routines, I walked towards my study spot, sit on my black glittering swivel chair, and toured my eyes around my desk, and checked if all my reviewing notes are completely piled up. After it, I started reading it out loud. Helps me memorize it faster. Adding up to the great memorizing technique is the whole green view outside the window. My favorite study spot.

"Kelly, Aria, let's eat!" Shouted Charlotte from our dining room.

I looked at my phone to check the time. It's been 30 minutes since I started reviewing notes. I usually spend time reading for an hour or two, but since nothing is important this whole week, I just rushed to read all of it. It helps me think and refresh, too. I don't want to make my brain rot and rusty.

When we were finally all seated in front of the table, we looked like a hungry beast who hasn't been eating for decades.

"This is superb, Charlotte!" Kelly bellowed, closing her eyes gently as she savors the aroma of the food Charlotte served.

At our table, there's fried rice, fried eggs, egg sandwiches, toasted bread, and oh Charlotte's specialty, the breakfast wraps.

"Peeeeerfeeect!" I roared, gesturing chef's kiss.

Charlotte giggled and looked at us, acting like an overwhelmed mommy, proudly watching her daughters eat the foods she perfectly served.

Well, really a thing to be proud of. I just hope she achieves her dreams.

After we ate, we immediately get up and go straight ahead out of our dormitories. We enjoyed our food too much, completely forgetting that we still have a class.

Kelly and I parted ways with Charlotte since Charlotte's culinary building are in the east wing and the Psychology building is in the west part of the campus. Kelly and I are classmates so we don't really mind getting late. We have each other and not to be embarrassed all by ourselves.

When we arrived at our room, frontwise, our teacher Miss Lee just came on time.

She approached us and asked, "How's your condition, Aria?"

"She's good, Miss," Kelly answered for me.

"That's good. Now, get inside. Our class shall start," Miss Gabriella added.

Right, my condition. . .

FLASHBACK

I opened my eyes slowly, and a beam of light passes through. I figured it was just the fluorescent light hanging on the ceiling. I toured my gaze around the white room I was in and saw four people standing in front of my hospital bed. I reckoned those two are husband and wife and the other two girls are their daughters. All of them are crying silently, almost shaking and it felt weird. What's worse than that is I don't know who they're are and why am I in this state. I don't even know who I am. My mind is completely blank.

One of them- the woman around ages 35 to 40, slowly approached and touched my hand gently. I noticed that my hands have dextrose attached to it.

"A-aria, my daughter. You're finally awake. . ." Mouthed the woman. Tears flood down her cheeks as he pathed it with the cloth she was holding with her right hand, left hand still holding mine.

"I-I don't know you, Ma'am. I'm sorry," I said, making her cry once more.

"I'll call the doctor," the other girl suggested and the man beside her nodded, not taking his eyes away from me.

All of them are looking at me. Focusing on me and observing while crying. Yet, you can feel the joy between their cries.

"Who are you?" Are the only words I got to tell.

END OF FLASHBACK

I learned that the man and woman there are my parents and the two other girls are Kelly and Charlotte who was my childhood best friend. They told me that I got a car accident on my way back from the party I went. I was comatose for a month and thankfully, I recovered immediately.

Unfortunately, I can't remember some of the people I knew before. The doctor said I had to hardly recognize them first before remembering.

"All right, students. Ready yourselves for we have a recitation," Miss Santos said right after we sat on each of our chairs.

Great! A dazzling quiz to start my day. Thank goodness I have read my notes a while ago, if not, then I'm doomed. Unfortunately, Kelly will surely ask.

I shrugged all the thoughts that started filling me up this morning. Starting from the mystery dream guy to the accident that had happened to me months ago. Then, I started catching up with the questions.
