Chapter Nine : Monster Hunt (1)

Joe went to the teleportation station and the officer in the station checked his ID from the guild and sent him to the forest. The sun was high in the sky as Joe stepped into the forest. The quest was simple: hunt monsters and bring back their mana cores.

The forest was teeming with life. Birds chirped in the trees, insects buzzed in the undergrowth, and somewhere in the distance, a monster roared. Joe felt a thrill of excitement. 

He ventured deeper into the forest, his senses alert for any sign of monsters. His hand rested on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it at a moment's notice.

After walking for a few minutes he saw a pack of wolves, they were in a group and had horns on their head. As he had the power of the devil fruit he decided to give it a try he raised his finger and pointed at the pack leader's direction and let out a small beam. 

The beam traveled so fast and made a hole through the wolf's head killing the beast instantly.

"Cool," Joe said to himself.

After that, he did the same with the other wolves just like that he killed the whole pack in just under a minute.

"This is the quickest hunt I ever had," Joe said to himself.

Just like that he hunted some more wolf packs he did not use any areal attack thinking it would attract other hunters and monsters. Also, he was worried that he would damage the cores of the monster.

After resting for a while he went to hunt more monsters.

Suddenly, he felt a strange sensation. It was like stepping into a pool of water, but there was no water around. He looked down and saw a translucent creature emerging from the ground. It was a slime monster, a common monster known for its gelatinous body and corrosive touch.

Joe quickly jumped back as the slime monster lunged at him again. He needed to come up with a new strategy.

Joe drew his sword and prepared to fight. The slime monster lunged at him, but Joe sidestepped and slashed at it with his sword. But to his surprise, the sword simply passed through the monster's body without causing any damage.

"Damit it looks like I have to destroy the core to kill this monster," Joe said as he used his devil power to make a sword and tried to kill the slime without destroying the core.

But to his surprise that also failed to kill the monster. 

Joe then pointed his palm toward the slime monster's core and shot a powerful beam. 

He forgot to control the power of output and he destroyed the whole part around the slime monster including it too.

"Wow that's gonna leave a mark," Joe said laughing.

"Too bad I couldn't get the core".

Joe then decided to take a break from hunting and looked for the herbs that he had to collect. He went to many parts of the forest and collected the herbs stated in the list. After collecting the herbs he placed the bag of herbs in his storage ring.

"This thing really became handy".

As Joe was making his way through the dense forest, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance. It was Amy, his friend and fellow hunter, along with her party members.

"Joe!" Amy called out, waving him over. Her party members, a diverse group of hunters, turned to look at him.

"Hey, Amy," Joe greeted, walking over to them. "What brings you guys here?"

"We're on a mission," Amy replied. "Hunting mana beasts, same as you."

Joe nodded, glancing at Amy's party members. There was a tall man with a greatsword slung over his shoulder, a woman with a staff adorned with crystals, and a small creature that looked like a fairy fluttering around them.

"I see you've got quite the team," Joe commented.

Amy grinned. "Yeah, we've been through a lot together. Let me introduce you. This is Mark, our swordsman."

Mark nodded at Joe, his expression serious. "Nice to meet you."

"And this is Lily," Amy continued, gesturing to the woman with the staff. "She's our mage."

Lily gave Joe a warm smile. "Pleasure to meet you."

"And last but not least," Amy said, pointing to the fairy. "This is Pixie. She's our scout."

Pixie fluttered in front of Joe, her tiny face beaming. "Hiya!"

Joe chuckled. "Nice to meet you all. I'm sure you guys will do great on your mission."

After some time, they said each other farewell and went their separate ways, each party trying to complete their mission.

'wow this the first time I have seen a fairy or is it a contracted beast, should I get one too ?' 

'Well I have to deliver the herbs today and it's already evening. Guess I will continue next day' Thinking this to himself Joe went back to the teleportation station and returned to Coastfield city.
