18 A Weapon

Brax expects that his exam sheet might cause a small commotion, as he could tell that the instructor was not confident in anyone scoring more than 95 percent from his behavior when he was explaining the rules.

Though Brax wants to stay low key, he cannot completely ignore the power and resources a strong influence can bring.

By being a well-known alchemist, he might earn a lot of influence and power but also not garner the unwanted attention you usually gain from something like a perfect-level technique.

That is his plan moving forward. He will be a great alchemist and a decent cultivator for the rest of the world while growing stronger.

Back to his humble adobe, Brax starts thinking about his next move. Right now, he needs money and the best way to earn money is by doing a quest assigned by the sect.

He can, of course, accept a quest from the reception hall which handles all the tasks and quests given to the sect, or from someone within the sect.

Brax plans to take one of these quests and earn some money so he can buy some alchemy items to perform his very first alchemy.

Right now Brax has nothing to his name other than those few spirit stones that the previous Brax had saved up doing menial tasks for the sect like cleaning and gathering herbs.

'I will wait for a few days till my results come back,' Brax decides to wait till his results come out and then take a quest to earn some money to fund his alchemy.

Without a starting capital, he won't be able to do shit.

"Now that I have a few days left, what should I do?" he asks himself. His cultivation is already taken care of, as his breathing technique automatically increases his strength every second.

He even has a peak grade advanced level martial arts technique that he himself developed.

As Brax gives it some thought, he thinks of something he is lacking right now. "Weapons," he murmurs.

The only thing he needs to complete his arsenal is a weapon and a weapon technique to go along with it.

"Let's go to the weapon hall," with his mind made up, Brax doesn't waste his time and heads toward the weapon hall.

The weapon hall is closer compared to the alchemy hall, as it's on the foot of the 8th mountain.

Brax now feels incredibly confident as he makes his way towards the weapon hall, knowing that none in the outer sect can match his strength.

His cultivation might just be at the 6th stage of the Qi condensing realm, but his fighting prowess is close to the 6th stage of the foundation-establishing realm.

Now he doesn't need to back off from situations like the ones he experienced in the manual hall against that disciple named Darvin.

_____________________

Just like the alchemy hall and the manual hall, the weapon hall is dedicated to a particular aspect of the cultivation world: weapons. Weapons play an important part in a cultivator's life, similar to alchemy pills.

Weapons assist cultivators in a fight, act as a cultivator's extra limb, and enhance a cultivator's fighting strength significantly.

Almost every cultivator has a weapon, whether it is a common weapon or a spirit weapon. Every cultivator needs one when death can come from anywhere and can be caused by anyone. Even a bit of strength might save their life.

Brax enters the weapon hall and finds the interior no different from the manual hall.

There are rows and rows of manuals kept on shelves and these manuals are all weapon techniques. Just like martial arts techniques, these weapons techniques are divided into levels and grades.

Every technique has a level, and within those levels, they have grades.

And just like in the manual hall, only the basic level techniques are accessible freely to the outer sect disciples.

Other than these basic-level weapon techniques, there are also a few intermediate-level techniques that can be bought.

The weapon hall also has a weapons section where all types of weapons are being kept and sold.

From normal weapons made of common metals to spirit weapons made of spirit beast bones.

All these weapons are treasures in the eyes of a cultivator, as a better weapon in their possession can significantly make them more efficient and effective in a battle. So the better a weapon is, the greater the result of their battle will be.

Brax takes a look at these weapons and wonders what it takes to make one of these, especially the ones made of bones.

'I need to get my hand on one of these,' he thinks, but right now he needs to direct his attention to the manuals that are free to access.

He needs them to understand how to use a weapon. He might have practiced and mastered many martial arts in his previous life and assimilated them into this one, but he never gave the cold weapons and any of their art a try because he lived in a world in which technology was growing very fast and guns were the only weapons that mattered.

Now he will have to spend some time to master these cold weapons because, in this world, they are not limited by range and power.

The weapon halls seem to be no less busy compared to the manual hall. He sees a lot of outer sect disciples trying to find weapon techniques that they want to learn.

"I need to make a decision," he murmurs as he comes across a conundrum. He now needs to make a selection of which type of weapon he wants to use.

The classic and the most overused weapon in this world, a sword. Within the sword choice, there are many options, such as a long sword, a short sword, a heavy sword, a saber, and many more.

There is also the knife and dagger option, which is great for close combat, but it might lack in defense compared to a sword.

He could also choose a blunt weapon, such as a war hammer or a mace, and they too differ in size and shape.

After giving it some serious thought, he decides to select the most versatile weapon of them all and maybe the best one. The spear.

Spear, by far, is the best weapon in his opinion. Not only is it able to deliver strong attacks, but also good for defense. With its long range, he will be able to keep some distance between him and his enemies. It can also be used as a staff to deal with people in a non-lethal way.

Now with a weapon type in his mind, Brax starts going through all the basic spear techniques that are free to view, along with some intermediate ones.

Brax stopped bothering with the elemental part of the technique and only focused on the physical movements and aspects of the techniques.

He got lucky and found a few intermediate-level spear techniques that were free to view and stored them in his memory.

His memory alone is like a cheat in this world and he can exploit these manual halls without even buying from them.

Satisfied with his loot, he heads to the weapon rack and takes a blunt spear made of iron that is free to take for any outer sect disciple, just like any basic-level technique.

With everything in hand, Brax heads back to his house and starts practicing the art of the spear.
