1. Oppose This Marriage

So-jin stands in front of the cafe. A man pats on her shoulder. "Let's go in." Besides her is her best friend, Tae-ho, fourth generation well-known family. So-jin is getting nervous. He puts his hand over hers. "Everything will be fine. Just leave it to me." "Mm."

They enter the cafe and Tae-ho spots his parents. "Dad, Mom." Both of his parents looks up and sees So-jin. So-jin holds her breath. "This is So-jin. The one I'm going to marry." She smiles and said, "Nice to meet you finally."

Both Tae-ho and So-jin sits across from his parents. His father asks, "Where are your parents? Are they not coming?" "Ah, I apologize. My mother's health isn't so good." "I see." Tae-ho said, "Oh, that's right. The honeymoon house, we both decided to stay in the house where I live now." He notices her hands were trembling. He puts his hand over hers. She looks at him and he smiles to ensure her that everything will be okay.

His mother said, "Sounds good to me." She turns to her husband. "Isn't that right, dear?" "I guess so." So-jin was shocked to see his parents to agree their son's marriage; however, So-jin somewhat have a bad feeling.

Both of them step aside to talk. So-jin said, "Hey Tae-ho, do you not know that you're into men?" He averts his eyes and said, "T-That's not true." "Really? You've been catfishing that bartender as soon as we got here." "No, no. To my mother, you're like a real daughter." (Daughter?) She looks away and mumbles, "I don't think I deserve to be anyone's daughter." He notices and sighs. "So-jin."

He puts his hands on her shoulder. "You're very a good daughter." She averts her eyes and said, "You're just forcing yourself to say that." It hits right on the mark. They stare each other and laughs.

They head back inside. His mother said, "You two can decide on what month and date your wedding will be, just keep us in touch." So-jin nods and smiles.

SLAM! The door swings open. She turns to the right side and sees a man walking towards the table. (Who's he? Tae-ho's lover?) His mother said, "How can you be here now? Shouldn't you be in the States?" The man said, "Brother, are you crazy?!" Tae-ho just smiles. "Mom, are you mad?" (Mom? He calls her mom so he's Tae-woo, Tae-ho's little brother.)

Tae-woo turns to So-jin. "I'm against this marriage." He glares at So-jin. (It must've hit him hard.) She turns to look at Tae-ho and his parents "I apologize, I have to get going. It's getting late." His mother said, "I apologize for my son's behalf. He's being rude." "Ah, not at all. I don't mind." She turns to Tae-woo. "You must've look up to your brother, that's why you're opposing this marriage." She politely bows and turns to Tae-ho. "Tae-ho, I'm going to get going." "Sorry, I cannot send you." She shakes her head. "It's okay. Call me when you get home safe." "Okay."

So-jin exit out of the cafe. As soon as she left, their mother said, "Kim. Tae. Woo." He flinched at his mother's cold voice. He slowly turns around to face his mother. "M-Mom." "So tell me, why are you here and not at school, hmm?" Tae-woo turns to his brother for help; Tae-ho ignores his little brother's help and takes a sip of his tea. (Brother!)

Next day...

So-jin skips her lunch and concentrates looking for a cure for her mother's illness. (I know it takes time; however, it's been taking too long for her to recover.) "Dr. Song, you must've work hard." She looks up and sees Tae-ho leaning against her door. She opens her mouth and said, "You're going to break my door due to your weight."

He immediately gets off the door and walk towards her desk. "I heard you haven't come out of your cave." He notices she's knitting her brows. He touches her brows. "If you kept knitting your brows, you won't be pretty anymore. No man would ever marry you." She smiles and hit his hand. She said, "That's what I'm aiming for, Tae-ho." "What's wrong?" She sighs and leans against her chair. "It's nothing. Just been doing same old." "The cure?" "Mmm."

Tae-woo spots his brother heading to the hospital. "Why is brother here? Is he sick?" He slowly follows Tae-ho inside of the hospital. He immediately hide as soon as he sees the person he hates; Song So-jin. Judging by her appearance, he realizes she's a doctor in this hospital. He eavesdrops their conversation. (What? If she aiming for not going to get married, then is she trying to marry brother?)

He stays to continue to eavesdrops their conversation. "What brought you here?" "My heart." She just smiles and said, "Tae-ho, no one is here so stop with the cheesy lines." He puts his hands in the air, defeated. He sits down and said, "I'm sorry about yesterday." "Yesterday? What happen yesterday?" "...My little brother.." "Ah...right! That man is your brother who has a brother-complex." Her words hit right in Tae-woo's heart. "That woman.."

"No need to worry about it. I'm not mad." "You're not?" (She's not?) She smiles, "You know me, I'm the only child. I think to have a brother or a sister...must be nice. I'm envious." "So-jin.." She sighs. "Tae-ho." She looks at him in the eye. "..?" "My mother...." She couldn't say those words but he knew what she was going to say next.

He stands up and hugs her behind. "If that day comes, you have me, you're not alone, So-jin." She lets out a sigh. "..Yeah...I know...however.." She removes herself from Tae-ho and looks at him. "You really need to start your own family, Tae-ho." "...I am. You're my family." "..Right...sorry." "Have you even sleeping properly?"

She shakes her head. "No. Too much on my mind." He was about to apologize; however, she said, "I'm going to hit you if you keep saying sorry." He lifts his hand up to her to ensure that he won't. Tae-woo walks out of the hospital, confused. (Just what are their relationship?)

Later that evening, Tae-woo hangs with his friend, Young-jae, nearby the cafe. Tae-ho refuses to join Young-jae to meet girls. Something caught his eye. (Isn't that...) So-jin is with two men who are in their fifties. One of them put his hand around her neck. They talk for a bit and So-jin then gives money to them. One looks over the money and nods as if he is satisfied.

She sighs and turns her heels to head somewhere. Tae-woo pushes his friend away and follows her. "Tae-woo, where are you going?!" "I'll call you later." His friend sighs. He keeps on following her and he was shocked. She enters his parents' home. "Why is she.." He knits his brows and also enters the house.
