Nathaniel memories: Accept or reject?

Nathaniel went back to class while Hirsch and Jade took care of the raven. At lunch, Yoram brought the redhead some food, hoping it might lift his spirits, which luckily gave good results. Milo and Kwan also stopped by the nursery because the blonde wanted to visit their leader. Kwan had refused at first, tugging on the blonde's sleeve to prevent him from taking another step, but it was clear that the younger was forced to follow him when he noticed that his complaints were not stopping the boy. Tiger, who had also followed them, preferred to stay outside because, strangely, he was embarrassed to enter when the young girl was inside.

When classes were over, Hirsch retired to his dance club, asking Jade not to tell Sebastian anything about visiting him, and that included visits from others. The boy's best friend preferred to keep the situation under cover since he assumed it would be the best for them. The girl, after thinking about it many times, accepted with insecurity, hoping that the older one would not ask about it to avoid giving explanations and feeling like a bad person. She was not a person who liked to lie, much less if it was the black-haired boy, but she could not refuse when she saw the pleading eyes of the redhead.

"He's just a boy", Nathaniel thought when he saw Sebastian's sad face again a couple of tables away. It amazed him how no one realized the misfortune that the class president had to live with every day. He knew deep down the older one was crying out for help, but he was also too proud to accept it. For a few moments, the silver-haired guy had the urge to reach out and help him, but held back when Hirsch spoke to him.

"Nath," said the redhead at the time the bell rang, being forced to raise his voice to hear himself above the noise caused by it, "I want to talk to you. Alone," he concluded, remarking the last word as he spoke.

The boy finished sending the last message and followed the redhead between the tables, avoiding colliding with a classmate on the way. The students were concentrating on the doors, making it difficult for them to pass. They moved back and forth among the students, pushing and being pushed at the same time. In those moments, he was grateful for his tall stature so he did not lose sight of Hirsch, who was a few people ahead.

As soon as he left, the boy took him a little apart from the others so that he could speak calmly. That part of the corridor was deserted, being the only ones there. They stopped a few yards away, facing each other. Nathaniel looked closely at the boy, who seemed to think too much about what he would say next, that fact intriguing him more.

"You can choose your learner, right?" Asked the redhead, puzzling Nathaniel.

"Yes, we are the ones who choose. Why...?"

"Then take care of Sebas," he interrupted, taking that order by surprise.

The silver-haired guy was silent for a few seconds. He had nothing against helping the boy, but he did not know how he would take it, because he did not want to disturb more than he already did. Although, most likely, it was that he would get angry and try to find a change, as he had done at the beginning of the course when Sebastian tried to transfer himself to another class. In addition, Sebastian had made it clear to him to stop being involved in his life, which he preferred to obey since he did not want to continue having misunderstandings with the raven.

"But..."

"I know what you think," Hirsch interrupted, "but it's a good way for both of you to get along, don't you think?"

"Are you sure Sebas will agree?"

"I don't think it was his idea to ask for consultancies We both know his grades are above average," he commented, balancing on one foot. "If it was his father's plan, then he won't complain."

"I don't know..." Nathaniel scratched the back of his neck, not knowing the decision he should make at that moment.

"Sebas is not well and I can't help him closely, he's probably hating me right now," Hirsch laughed sadly. "But you can do it if you get close enough. You are too philosophical and I know you can help him in any way. Please, Nath, just help him. I know he has not been good to you, but you are the only person who could get close to him in a way that you can know him. He is just a scared child who needs a hand."

"What about Jade and Jack?"

"You heard it from her: the only person that Sebas fully trusts is me. Jade doesn't have that absolute confidence, Jack even less. Even if they are friends since childhood, Sebas will not tell them anything about it, as he has done lately. Also, you will go to his house every day, at least that is a point in your favor. You can enter his world, if you want to see it that way."

Hirsch's eyes sparkled with hope. He could see the desperation to help his best friend, making it impossible for him to refuse. However, he doubted very much that he could be of great help to the black-haired boy, who was too stubborn and did nothing but ward off everyone who approached him. It was hard enough for him to like him; how long would it take to gain his trust and then be able to support him? He doubted that it was a task as simple as the redhead drew it, adding that he was giving that mission to the person that the boy hated the most. Would Sebastian be willing to allow himself to be helped or would he continue to reject the support offered to him?

The more he thought about it, the more complicated the task seemed. It was like an impossible mission that he was getting into without even wanting to. He could even hear the screams that Sebastian would give as soon as he finds out, and he was sure that he would probably outright refuse the idea that he would be his guide. But you wouldn't lose anything trying, right?

After all, it would only be for a couple of months. After that they could both go back to their own lives.

"Fine, I'll do it."

He sighed for the tenth time in half an hour. The sheet was still in front of him, waiting to be signed by the silver-haired guy. He felt Sebastian's eyes on him, even if it was just a small photograph in the top corner of his registration paper. It was the first time in all that time that he had been a tutor that he thought too much about whether to accept or not.

His work was not complicated, because the answer was always the same: a signature at the end of the paper along with his name, making it clear that he would be in charge of that consultancy. They hadn't lasted long either, probably once a week for a month or ten sessions a month. However, he was now about to accept a daily counseling for two months, this being the longest he had seen marked since he joined the club.

He might as well give the boy's profile to someone else to take care of. But he wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do either, since it had been specially asked of him. If he agreed with Hirsch, he could understand the raven easier until Nathaniel knows what was happening to him and give a solution to it, if it was in his hands. Adding that the rapprochement between them would be faster, if Sebastian allows it. However, he knew that it would not be easy at all and that there would probably be several problems to face due to the boy's bad temperament.

He sighed heavily as he moved the pencil in his hand, finally signing the paper.
