Heartbroken

"Sebas..."

"I don't want to talk to you right now", he interrupted crossing both arms and legs. Even if he was not emotionally stable, he did not want to yell at him in a hurtful way at the moment. The other snorted tiredly.

"Do you always act this childish?"

"Me childish?" Annoyed, he hit the desk with both hands. "Do you want me to remind you who threw his food on me?!" Realizing that he had raised his voice and caught the attention of everyone present, he took a deep breath counting to three.

"It was an accident, Sebas", Nathaniel took a seat next to him. Suddenly, the tic of the black-haired guy returned. The newcomer kept his gaze on him, making him somewhat uncomfortable.

"Like all the other 'accidents', I have to assume", he turned his face away, hoping it would leave him alone.

"I just want to make it up to you".

"Well. I forgive you for all your mistakes. Happy?"

Nathaniel sighed at the boy's attitudes. Instead, he no longer wanted to continue listening to the voice of the boy next to him. The pangs of pain he'd had in the morning had returned in more intense form. He covered his face with both hands, holding his head to calm himself.

"You're hurting Hirsch, did you know that?"

And that was the drop that filled the glass.

"Don't you dare bring Hirsch into all this, Nathaniel!" His face had already turned red by the time he jumped up from his place, facing the silver-haired boy.

The whole room was silent. All the students who were there and even those who were passing outside the classroom at that time, they stopped to appreciate the discussion that had been created between both boys. Some were surprised by the attitude of the class president; others, on the other hand, wanted to hear the answer of the silver haired man, encouraging them to continue with the fight. However, no words were uttered by Nathaniel, who was shocked by what the older had said. Sebastian, on the other hand, felt his own breathing shaken and somewhat heavy. Again, the words had come out unconsciously. It hadn't been his intention to make a fuss, again.

He hadn't realized the discomfort that had been created until a voice quite familiar to him broke the silence.

"Sebas?"

He turned to the door, the place where the familiar voice had come from. Among the students who were leaning out, stood out the boy with brown hair who held the shoulders of… Hirsch. The boy kept his two hands covering his mouth, his eyes wide open and his face pale. Their gazes connected for several seconds, until the redhead decided to walk through the crowd of students to get out of there. Yoram walked behind him, not taking his gaze away from the black-haired guy as he gave him a disapproving look.

"Hirsch, wait".

He pushed the desk and left the classroom pushing the boys who were blocking his way to get to the hall. It was until that moment where all the students scattered, going back to what they were doing before observing the scene he had just created in the third class. Once in the hallway, he spotted both boys two classrooms away. Both of them were walking fast, trying to get away as quickly as possible. Sebastian ran that distance that separated them. Again, he called out the name of his best friend, making him turn around. He hadn't noticed his eyes swollen from crying.

"Don't come near me, Sebastian", the redhead commented coldly, causing the aforementioned to stop in his tracks.

"Hirsch..."

"Was it necessary to yell at Nath like that? Was it really worth doing?" he was going to answer, but Hirsch continued. "I didn't think you would take all of this to that point. Jeez, Sebas, what did he do to you to make you hate him like that?"

"You would not understand. I am the only one who is realizing what he is causing our friendship", he excused himself, taking a step towards his friend, but the redhead backed away.

"No, Sebas. He is not causing anything. It's always you, but you don't accept that your attitude is ruining us. And that's why you try to blame someone".

"Do not tell me that. You know what I'm going through, have you already forgotten about your best friend?"

"I doubt that you are that best friend I thought I had", he sighed and closed his eyes to avoid crying. "You are not the Sebas I know, the Sebas who is my best friend. I don't know you, Sebastian. I know the problems that you are going through, but you are letting them consume you".

"Now you think I'm the cause of all this?" He took a step back, his eyes burning and his throat tightened.

"Come on, Sebas, who was the one who got jealous because his best friend had more friends? Who was the one that slowly began to walk away?"

"You were the one who replaced me when I needed you most". Tears welled up in his eyes, blurring his vision.

"Are you saying I was the one who left you? I was always there for you! But you preferred to lock yourself in your world and keep everything to yourself. Don't come saying that I was the one who neglected our friendship".

"You're blaming me for everything, Hirsch. Like me, you changed too. Why are you making this harder for me?"

"It's not me, Sebas. You just planted your own trap". The redhead was crying too. Yoram, who had taken a few steps away, came over to comfort his classmate.

"I... I really wanted to fix this..."

"How were you going to fix it?" Hirsch bellowed, pulling away from the chestnut and giving a dry laugh. "Yesterday I was quite worried about you. You don't know how bad I felt about yelling at you, I felt like the worst friend. After class, I looked for you everywhere. Jade told me that you had gone home and I realized that you were really sad. I didn't want to hurt you more than you already were, I didn't want you to do something stupid and lose yourself". He drew in a breath and blinked a few times before continuing.

"I called you and sent a ton of messages, but you never deigned to answer. I knew perfectly well that you were reading them, so I invited you to eat. I waited for you an hour and you never showed up! Do you know how bad I felt to have waited in vain? I figured you were really upset and I blamed myself all night. But, now that I've seen it all, I realize that I'm not the bad friend. It was not me who pretended not to use the mobile and ignored all the messages and calls. It wasn't me who left his best friend waiting for an hour!"

"I wasn't really using my cell phone. I fell asleep all afternoon…" Sebastian was a sea of tears. He felt his heart break into a million pieces, and at that moment, the idea of disappearing didn't really seem so bad.

"I don't believe anything, Sebastian. I know you too well".

"Don't you believe me?"

"Did you trust me when I said I would never replace you?"

"Hirsch..." He took a step forward, approaching a little, but the opposite stepped back, leaving distance between them again.

"I don't want this anymore. I don't want to be your best friend anymore". And that hurt like a blow to the stomach. "We are only hurting ourselves".

"So, our two-year friendship ends like this? With a 'we are hurting ourselves'?"

"I do not intend to continue being friends with someone I do not know completely. Sorry".

He turned around, leaned on Yoram's shoulder and they both advanced down the hall, leaving Sebastian with soaked cheeks behind. He felt a heartbreaking emptiness inside him, is that how it feels when your heart is broken? However, he was not referring to an affair, but, having lost his best friend ... that was killing him in a matter of seconds. That pillar that had supported him for more than two years had disappeared. Now he was only on the edge of the abyss. An abyss that hypnotized him more and more.

Everything around him spun, causing him to stagger as he tried to keep his balance. The headache was even stronger than before. The cloudy vision didn't help much either, now it was all big spots of different colors. Unconsciously, he began to tear the area where the heart is located above the uniform. How could he get rid of that pain that was killing him?

His legs began to sag as his eyes closed wearily. Losing strength throughout his body, he collapsed in the middle of the hall, drawing the attention of all the students, but now in a different way, as they all began to worry about Sebastian. While it was normal for people to pass out, it seemed like he didn't want to react when he was shaken to return him to normal.

"Sebastian!"

"Dude!"

That was the last thing he heard among the murmurs of the other students before the darkness devoured him.
