Immortality

"Master, is this youth my senior brother? Also, does that mean he's more unique than the others?"

"According to my rule, every disciple indeed has to be more unique than the one before it.

But this kid is in no way close to even your first senior brother who passed away, let alone the Fatty and you who are incredibly rare even in the higher realms."

The old man felt a big headache coming. Or rather, it was clutching his leg.

"Then, why does he call you master?"

"Because this kid is a walking disaster!" The old man angrily said whilst flicking his leg making the youth drop to the ground a couple meters away.

Sigh*

"Why do you think I have this rule of only accepting disciples more unique than the previous one?"

"I thought that was just you being a weird old man, but it seems now there's a reason for it?" A very intrigued Fang Qiu replied, he even took out his last piece of meat in order to really enjoy this moment with a good story and some nice food.

Looking over at the kid who was running back over from where he fell down the old man continued "the reason I made that rule was to avoid having to accept this walking disaster as a disciple way back when I only had your first senior brother following me around as a child eight years ago. And the reason I can't just directly refuse him as a disciple is due to his spirit ability known as disaster dice, so I had to establish this rule and enforce it with a heavenly oath in order to refuse the kid. And don't be fooled by his youthful appearance he is already nearing twenty-five years of age. But for now we really should leave since disaster will strike any second now with him rolling a five…"

Right as the two of them entered the restaurant and the youth wanted to follow..."There he is! That's the kid that killed the dog down in the plaza, get him!"

"You shameless bastards! I only wanted to see if I could pet that rich merchant's dog, who knew I would roll a two and kick it in the face instead! And besides, fourteen of you oldies ganging up on little old me, how shameless can the city guards even be!" The youth replied whilst quickly running the other way.

"Fourteen? There's only two of us....can this kid not count?"

____

Inside the restaurant...

"Master, where's the disaster dice youth?"

He clearly saw the youth walking behind them so how did he not follow them inside?

As for the meat that was supposed to be in his hands, he had already eaten it and thrown the rest to the panda which he still wore like a backpack, since every cultivator always had their core spirit on or close to their person.

By now, he was truly out of meat after having eaten the entire last animal from his void storage as slow as possible over the course of the last couple months.

Yet, sadly he was still in the same cultivation realm as before, but today this would all change!

"You can ask your questions whilst we are eating, let's get ourselves a table on the second floor first" the old man told Fang Qiu before requesting a room on the second floor.

"Is this what heaven looks like? He could see tables full of delicacies everywhere he passed, some people even had a small mountain of plates next to their table, although they themselves also kind of resembled mountains."

Fang Qiu assumed all of these fatties were rich merchants or city officials since no normal cultivator would have this kind of body shape and no poor people would dine here. Or they could have been food element cultivators which was one of the rare elements his master told him about.

Finally arriving at a private room Fang Qiu wished he could straight up live here...

It was the most luxurious room Fang Qiu had ever seen in his life, not that he had been in lots of fancy rooms before. The room had a rich smell of sandalwood and was full of intricate art pieces on the walls, they even used incense made of eighth tier spirit herbs and according to the old man's explanation, just the incense alone would be worth a lot of gold, let alone the food Fang Qiu was surely about to order soon.

The old man could already guess what his disciple was thinking and let him soak it all in, he would surely see his newest disciple spend a lot of resources and spirit stones today.

But there's no way he would lose their bet so everything he spent today would be earned back eventually, after all the kid couldn't even clap his hands, let alone become an archer!

Soon enough a beautiful servant entered the private room, what surprised Fang Qiu most was that he couldn't even sense her cultivation, meaning it was higher than his own!

In boundless city the city lord was a foundation realm expert, yet here foundation experts were mere servants in a restaurant?

Seeing how the youth was staring at her with his mouth in an O shape made her chuckle slightly which sounded like bells in Fang Qiu's ears

"What can I get you both today?"

"Ill have your best wine and as for food, the kid can order whatever he likes."

The kid's ability is to increase his cultivation when he eats flesh from strong creatures, but he already had a slab of meat on the way here, so there's no way he can eat more than one dish today! He thought to himself thinking he outsmarted his disciple once again

Though I gave him the one thousand spirit stones, the less he spends the easier he can pay me back when he loses! Even if he comes to eat here every day for the next year there's no way I will even feel my pockets get lighter. Winning the bet will be a breeze"

"What kind of beasts are the dishes on this menu from?" The youth asked the servant

"Sir, the beast's name is usually in the name of the dish, so I don't quite understand your question..."

"Oh, my apologies, I meant what rank were these beasts before they were killed?"

"Since we are currently on the foundation floor of the restaurant which is the second floor, all dishes are made with foundation realm beast meat. I didn't bring you any higher since you would explode from absorbing the qi within those dishes."

The old man responded in the servant's stead since he knew Fang Qiu's goal in coming here, no other cultivator was capable of absorbing qi from their food so most cultivators used the different floors as a measure of how delicious a dish was.

Revolving core beast meat would be more delicious than foundation realm beast meat if both were from the same type of beast and prepared in the same way.

Of course the higher the floor the more expensive the food was, so it was also a form of status if one could eat on the higher floors. Cultivators were not considered mortals anymore and could absorb qi to replace their need for food, but most cultivators would still eat on a regular basis if they could afford it since food is one of the few great pleasures in life.

"Since all of the meat on this menu comes from foundation realm beasts, I will order one of each dish"

Cough* cough* cough* "ONE OF EACH??? There's over two hundred dishes on here! You little...

Do you think spirit stones grow on trees? Most foundation realm cultivators don't even own a single one yet all these dishes cost between 50 and 500 gold each. Every spirit stone is 10 000 gold in the market so you are spending around 5 spirit stones already just on food on the first day!

"Master, didn't the bet state I could buy any resources I wanted as long as they helped me increase my cultivation or getting stronger, I am in no way breaking the rules by doing this.

Oh, and please don't choke on your wine great master, you are indirectly paying after all so I can't have you die on me." He smugly replied back.

Not too long later a table full of dishes was served, a second table even had to be carried into the room due to a lack of room to place every dish...

"Master, is this heaven?...."

With a dark face the old man replied "Little fourth, food can't make you happy. Immortality is the true end goal of every cultivator alive! Don't lose yourself in these kinds of small pleasures in life.

*HUMPH*

"Immortality? What's that? Can I eat it? Don't compare your silly goals to mine. What will you do once you reach immortality? Be old and watch everyone and everything around you die? You won't even have teeth left to chew your food"

Ripping a leg of a baked golden chicken and holding it up high like the greatest treasured weapon in the world he continued…

"My goal in life is to eat the best food below the heavens, if the heavens are delicious then even the heavens will be eaten by me!"

Taking a bite he added

"If I have to reach immortality in order to find the best food in existence, then I shall eat my way to immortality as a mere stepping stone to reach the greatest goal in life!"

Revealed some of the mc’s goals towards the future, hope you all like where the story is going, of course the story will become a true cultivation novel with plenty of fights and adventures, but since it’s only the start of the novel i want to build up a solid base instead of fighting 24/7.

Hope you all enjoy the slower buildup phase, i will make sure things don’t get boring and soon enough the novel will become action packed as a change of pace so please look forward to future chapters.
