6 Chapter 6 - Assassination Attempt

One day, just as school had let out, children throughout the city headed home for the day. Styxx, on the other hand, was patrolling the streets, he wore some casual clothes so as not to stand out more than he already does. When he stopped to wait and cross the street, he noticed the driver of an 18-wheeler acting strange. He was sweating profusely and was squirming nervously, but his eyes never left whatever he was looking at.

Styxx followed the man's gaze to a limo that was at the side of the road, most likely it had broken down. The hood was propped up and a man in chauffer clothes was looking through trying to find and fix the problem. Near the back of the limo, a young girl with long black hair put up in a ponytail, the limo and her clothes already indicated what kind of tax bracket she lived in. The girl was currently leaning against the car looking down at her phone, her fingers typing away at the screen, no sort of awareness for her surroundings.

Styxx let out a tired sigh, it is not like Styxx had an eversion to helping or saving people but for someone like him, that technically doesn't exist, it's more troublesome than it seems. Not only is it broad daylight and it was busy out with the sidewalks packed with people with phones and cameras in every street corner, he would have to use one of his mind-altering quirks on everyone in the vicinity so that they don't remember what he looks like. That didn't include the hours he would have to spend tonight, making sure his picture is deleted from all technology in the vicinity. Then, when the authorities arrive, it would bring more attention to him as the lack of details of his appearance and evidence of mind-altering will definitely send up red flags to the government and the heroes.

Styxx felt the laws against vigilantism were skewed in a sense. Why is it that when someone helps the city for free by taking care of criminals and villains, stopping crime in the process, was illegal and considered a criminal act? It is not like everyone has the balls to actually go through with it? And if they do, they aren't getting paid, so it's basically free labor.

Anyway, Styxx slowly walked towards the young girl, that still wasn't aware of her impending assassination.

"Rich people problems…" Styxx whispered with derision.

The girl wasn't aware of the imminent danger she was in, her biggest concern right now was getting her mother to send another limo to pick her up. Her driver was currently trying to fix it but according to him, he couldn't tell what was wrong with it, everything appeared normal.

*Bzz*

She had received a message from her mother, and it read:

[There's a car on the way.]

The girl smiled, she was in a hurry to go home and train. Even though she had a recommendation to enter UA in a month, she wasn't going to slack off. But, just as she went to text her mother back, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up.

"WATCH OUT!!!" She heard someone scream,

"Young Miss!" She heard her driver exclaim in panic.

The world seemed to have slowed down as she turned her head to look. A periwinkle-haired girl was flying towards her, her face screaming with panic and just behind her, a pink-skinned, pink-haired girl with horns was dashing towards her, her extreme fear reflecting in her eyes.

She slowly turned her head forwards, only to see a large 18-wheeler truck, barreling towards her, just meters away. The phone slipped through her fingers, everything was happening too fast, she still hadn't realized that she was about to die, and it was too late to react. A surge of adrenaline hit her in the face of death, but it didn't do anything but prolong her death as her feet were stuck to the ground in fear. Just when she thought she was dead for sure, a tall young man with sunglasses on casually walked in front of her, putting himself in front of the truck.

Due to the adrenaline, every detail of the young man in front of her passed through her eyes. He was without a doubt a tall young man, almost 2 meters in height. His black and platinum hair, which caught attention the moment it landed in anyone's field of view, reached his lower back, a small red band holding it together near the end of it. He wore a plain white, Hawaiian-like shirt with black cargo shorts and flip flops. His perfectly tanned skin defined his perfectly built muscles that no amount of cheap clothes would be able to hide.

The tall young man could be described in just a few words; Strong and Handsome.

He stood right in front of her and raised his hand towards the truck.

*Clatter*

There was no explosion, no sound of impact at all, only the sound of her phone hitting the pavement was registered in her ears. The moment the truck met with the young man's hand; the truck stopped dead in its tracks. The young girl who was saved, watched as the young man's arm rippled like water from the point of impact. The ripples then moved from his arm down to his legs before bouncing back up all the way up his arm…

*CRUNCH*

The sound of metal breaking rang out through the streets. Just a second after impact, the truck was flattened like an accordion. The driver was squished into a pancake inside the driving cabin, blood splattering all over the windshield and dripped to the floor from the cracks. The young man removed his hand from the truck, leaving a clear imprint right on the hood.

Once she was safe, the world turned back to normal and she collapsed to her knees in relief. She looked up to see the face of her savior only to see a partial image as his sunglasses blocked her from seeing a full picture and that he was already turning to leave.

"You need more training if you want to be a Hero, you lack awareness of your surroundings," The young man said as he walked away.

How did Styxx know the girl wanted to be a hero? It was easy as most kids nowadays want to become one.

The girl gathered her strength and with shaky legs, she stood up and bowed towards the young man as thanks.

"My name is Yaoyorozu Momo, my family would like to compe-" The girl, Momo, started to say,

"Not interested. Goodbye," the young man replied curtly,

Momo was left speechless as no one who heard her last name had rejected her before. Her family was both famous and extremely rich, with connections all over Japan and even a few internationally. Everyone wanted to be in their good books, but the young man clearly had no interest.

Momo was left agape at his response and just watched his back trying to remember his details but the more she thought about it, the faster the memory disappeared from her mind.

After a few seconds, all she could remember was the color of his hair and flip-flops?...
