Edilus - "Hah, I've finally done it!"

After Edilus had cunningly abducted Avel and a select group of individuals, he found refuge in a clandestine corner of Sentopia, a city shrouded in mystery. Here, he could conduct his dark experiments in isolation. At the center of his research lay an audacious ambition: to bestow immortality upon human cells. It was this relentless pursuit that resulted in his ignominious expulsion from the prestigious Seilus Academy, ultimately marking him as a pariah within the revered Vertion Empire. However, Edilus had now achieved a groundbreaking breakthrough, successfully creating cells that retained eternal youth. This pivotal moment signified a paradigm shift in his work, yet the quest remained to further enhance the cells' regenerative capabilities and, ultimately, to transform his very own body. Before proceeding with this momentous endeavor, he harbored intentions to test the procedure on his handpicked experimental subjects.

In the same year, within the fortified walls of the Special Vertion Magic Forces Base, a conversation unfolds.

Meliot - "Edilus is now our foremost adversary. He has already laid waste to three of our legions. Our previous attempt to apprehend him took place in the Verton Mountains, which have since been renamed."

Vinston - "Yes now it's Dark Fields. I acknowledge his formidable strength, but we have a meticulously devised plan. It commences with the evacuation of Sentopia's residents. Subsequently, four of our legions will encircle the confines of Edilus's clandestine laboratory. Furthermore, we have the renowned 7-star mage, General Melkon, within our ranks."

Meliot - "Do you believe this will be sufficient? During our last encounter, he had already ascended to the 7-star zenith. We must fervently hope that he does not attain the elusive 8-star level or that his experiments do not meet fruition."

Vinston - "I concur. This urgency underscores the paramount need for the swift apprehension of Edilus. Three decades ago, he presented his enigmatic project to the academy director, resulting in his immediate expulsion from the academy. It was only due to the pressing challenges we faced at that time, preoccupied with a more formidable adversary, that prevented us from deploying troops to capture him."

Meliot - "I hold onto the hope that this time, we will successfully apprehend him."

Vinston - "Indeed, my sentiments align with yours."

Following this succinct exchange, the two esteemed commanders of the special forces initiated their meticulously crafted plans to vanquish Edilus once and for all. Meanwhile, within the same enigmatic year, Edilus embarked on a perilous operation to inject immortal cells into the corporeal vessel of his chosen subject, Avel. Initially, the operation appeared to proceed with seamless grace. Yet, when Edilus administered the complete dosage of cells, an unforeseen and grotesque transformation unfurled.

Avel's dermal layers peeled away, revealing the intricate musculature beneath. Muscles commenced their mesmerizing ballet of contraction and rapid regeneration. This harrowing metamorphosis persisted for approximately two excruciating hours, during which Avel's corporeal form underwent a grotesque series of transformations. Eventually, Avel's once-breathing body stilled, and all vestiges of life retreated into the obscurity of eternity.

Confronted by this grim and surreal tableau, Edilus, ensnared in a turbulent maelstrom of hope and despair, resolved to preserve Avel's lifeless form, clinging to the faintest glimmer of a miraculous return to life, even though he harbored the somber awareness that Avel was irrevocably lost to him.
