Chapter 1: His Arrival

At the peak of a 30 meter minaret, a large sunstone the size of a van glowed, its soft orange blanketed Black Rock Town. Although this was a land under the surface of the world, the absence of the sun did not affect the populace for the most part, as they had access to sun stones, a natural stone which had the ability to mimic the sun. Thanks to its innate ability to mimic the sun, it could also nurture plants like oats and the Grey Spotted Fungus, which allowed the residents of this small town to farm crops not native to this subterranean hell hole.

All throughout Black Rock Town, tall buildings, reminiscent of refined European architecture, mixed with the bold splendor of the modern world.

In the center of the town, in a compound, made of an assortment of tall and short buildings, all sculpted out of refined black stone, a powerful family lived. As one of the three strongest clan's, and one of the 5 strongest powers in Black Rock Town, the Fent Family's compound represented their strength. In a land where every sun stone covered piece of land was more valuable than gold, having 1000 meters of land to oneself was truly a sign of wealth.

In a medium sized building, in the center area of the compound a young man lay on his elven wooden bed, it had an inlay of a serpent eating the head of a beautiful androgynous dark elf. This craft was proof of the dark elves' downfall, falling to the point of being forced to create furniture with humiliating carvings, depicting the cause of their descent.

The young man's face scrunched in mild pain, as he slowly came to, he opened his eyes and took in his surroundings. The walls were a dark black, while the furniture and amenities were a white fluorescent wood. The intricate handmade carvings and craftwork, proved that these were all expensive items belonging to the noble class. Being surrounded by such dark walls gave Michael a sense of claustrophobia, though he did not have such a fear in his past life, his newfound senses being overwhelmed could be the cause. The only consolation was the slight white glow of the furniture, and the strong amber rays that fell into the room through the slightly opened wooden windows.

'What, where am I? Where am I?!'

As Michael settled into his body and became more and more aware, he began to panic. Where was he? Was he not just at home reading pointless, half-assed fan fictions.

'Though, this new, fresh start did not seem too bad.'

As he began to assess his situation, his new thin and youthful body as well as this new alien setting confirmed that he was in another world, and that he for certain had reincarnated.

"Hah, hall, hell, helloh, hello?"

Michael began to attempt to alert someone, so that he could get a better understanding of his situation, but he soon realized that it wasn't going to be easy. Speaking through his new voice box was proving to be an ardent task.

'The original inhabitant was most likely not an English speaker, haha. But this makes things even more difficult. I don't know the native tongue of this world and I don't have any memories of my life here, so how am I supposed to adapt, how long will it take to pick up the mannerisms and the minutiae.'

Michael's plan was to fake amnesia, he would first walk towards any nearby people and then willfully fall. His nescience of information would make it easy to fake it later, though this is on the basis that people here were kind and would nurture him instead of simply killing him off. Michael had ready novels where the inhabitants were usually spiteful and unruly. It was a gamble, but currently Michael had no other ideas.

Michael lifted the thin plant derived cloth from his body, as he made his way off the bed. He was having a hard time acclimating to his new body so he was making unnecessary movements and lifting the cloth was more of an attempt as Michael was finding it difficult.

'My breathing, my hands, my fingers, my legs, my feet, wait, my hand?'

Michael slowly flexed and tightened the muscles all over his body, increasing his control over his body. As he did so, he noticed something odd about his right hand. He felt something, a cool metallic texture, an item shaped like a thin rectangle.

Getting himself into a seating posture, he raised his right hand up to his chest, his eyes focusing on the futuristic object. It was a phone about 6 inches in height and about 3 inches in width, with a depth of about a quarter of an inch. It had a full screen void of any notches or "holes" of any sort, the back was without any symbols and held a beautiful azure color, and lastly it did not have speakers, buttons, or any plug in port.

Curiosity filled Michael's mind as he analyzed the device.

'Was this something of this world? Was technology so advanced in this world that it did not require tactile buttons? How was it supposed to be used, with one's mind? But, then why is everything else so ancient, the cloth robe and the sheets were made of a rough hemp-like plant.'

Although calling hemp clothes and sheets ancient, seemed far fetched, even for Michael's modern world, it did come across as discrepancy.

'Alright lemme see.'

Following a deep sigh, Michael began to think hard, trying to give the phone mental commands.

'Turn on? Connect?'

Sensing its host's desire, the phone turned on, a light blue home screen with 5 apps appeared.

'Huhh?'

Reading the small white lettering under the applications, shock appeared on Michael's face.

"Boom-Tubes!?"

Despite having been cautious this entire time, what he saw surprised him greatly causing him to inadvertently let out his thoughts. Though thankfully, as his mind wasn't completely used to his body, the words came out softly.

'What are you?'

'Ping!'

Michael heard a distinct Ping inside his mind, a river of information fell upon him.

'So this is a Mother Box from DC! Haha! Then that means this isn't from this world as according to 'it', it felt a connection to me and took me as its host as I passed through its universe, aiding me in my crossing to this world.'

Michael's excitement seemed to lessen a bit as he was reminded of a crucial piece of information. Due to it not being in its home universe, the Mother Box lost many of its capabilities as the origin of many of its feats stemmed from its connection to the Source. Nonetheless it still held certain abilities like its super computational ability, the production of Boom Tubes, analysis, and alchemical transmutation, as well as the ability to protect and assist the host's soul and body.

Another difference in the Mother Box now was that due to its separation from the Source, it now needed to absorb energy from its surroundings to power itself.

'What about the knowledge of the New Gods?'

'Ping.'

'Fuck.'

Its response was that due to its recent creation, its creator did not have the time to upload it with the New Gods' stored knowledge.
