26 Vision

In front of me stand Dean and Sam, both a few years younger, along with a man in his prime. The grey-bearded man has an angry look and tries to stare Sam down.

Then Sam screams in the man's face, "I want a normal life! I don't want to spend my life searching for a phantom!"

"Then leave! Dean, and I can avenge your mother without you if you care so little about her," says the man, stepping closer to intimidate Sam.

"Mom has been gone for eighteen years now, and we can't bring her back even if we kill that thing. Why don't you understand that?"

Well, if it wasn't clear until now, now it is. That's their father...

These words obviously hurt the man, and he clenches his fists but then says calmly, "You want to go, then go. No one will hold you back. But remember, if you step through this door, never show your face again."

Sam shakes his head a few times with tears in his eyes, then walks to the bed, grabs his bag, and walks towards me. He phases through me and leaves the motel.

I wonder what part is mine here, but it seems I'm simply a watcher...

"Sam!" Dean screams and wants to go after him, but his father stops him while grabbing his hand, saying, "He made his choice, so forget him!"

This makes Dean conflicted, and he doesn't know what to do for a few seconds. But then listens to his father, calms down, and sits on the bed.

Afterwards, the father sighs and says, "We should get going. It's your mother's death day today. Let's get her some flowers and then visit Missouri."

Dean nods, and they leave the motel, while leaving only a newspaper behind. I walk towards it, and the date reads November 02, 2001.

So Dean's voicemail message is probably for his father, and the 11-2-83 is her death day...

After reading it, suddenly everything starts to blur and fade away like smoke, and I find myself in some sort of apartment.

There I see a small Sam, around ten years old, sitting on his bed, staring at his closet. Since the window is open, the wind starts to move the closet door a bit.

"Dad!" screams Sam after seeing it. The next moment, the door slams open, and his younger-looking father appears there with a Colt M1911 in his hand.

"Sam, what is going on?!" his father screams and looks around vigilantly.

"My closed door moved. I think there is something inside..."

Well, the famous thing in the closet... every child's fear.

His father walks to the closet, opens it, then turns the light on but finds nothing. He then moves to Sam's bed and says, "Sam, if you ever see something there again, use this to get rid of it."

And gives the confused Sam the Colt M1911...

Well, I would probably give my kid a weapon too in this world where the closet monster is probably real...

The surroundings change again, and I find myself standing in a dimly lit room with a baby Sam in his crib.

The problem is, there is a figure standing in front of it, clad in shadows, and I recognize its aura...

I walk closer, and the figure suddenly turns around. The only visible part of its face are the sinister yellow eyes.

"Sam, Sammy!"

But it doesn't look at me; instead, it looks at the screaming blonde woman who appears at the door.

"Hello, Mary..." says the demon, stretching out its hand and catapulting the shocked Mary to the ceiling.

"Ahhhhg!" The last thing before the surroundings break down are her screams...

---

I open my eyes and stand again next to Sam, who suddenly sways around and falls to the ground. But before he hits the ground, I catch him and lay him down.

So this was their mother...

"Sam! What the hell happened?" asks Dean, worried, as he kneels next to his brother.

"That's a good question... this has never happened before, but he seems to be sleeping." I say while scratching my head.

But this feeling... It's the same sensation when the Djinn sent me into the dream world. It seems my encounter with them left something behind...

Did I accidentally invade his mind while searching for the connection? If so, then the monster in this world seems to have a strange effect on my body...

While Dean tries to wake up Sam, I stand up and walk to the map. Concentrating on their father's aura, I say, "Flue et ostende mihi quod quaero." (Flow and show me what I seek)

Dean's blood starts to move, leaving no traces on the map behind. When it lands in Lawrence, Kansas, it stops and sinks into the map, leaving a small blood stain behind where their father is.

"Fix him!" says Dean after the unsuccessful attempt to wake up Sam.

I check on him again and say, "Like I said, he is sleeping. It must have been tiring for him. Let's put him in your car, and then we need to talk..." Dean is skeptical at first, but after seeing Sam peacefully sleeping, he agrees, and we put him in the car.

"So what do you want to talk about?" asks Dean with a gruff voice and a hint of impatience

"Let's start with the night in Stanford and your brother... but what you tell your brother after this is your choice."

"What is it about Sam?!" asks Dean, outraged.

"Calm down. First, let's start with the night in Stanford. I already told you that a demon was probably the cause of the fire. But there wasn't just one, but two of them.

The stronger one stood outside, watching the fire. I don't know if it's standard for demons or not, but his eyes were yellow, and he seemed to enjoy the show."

Mentioning the demon makes Dean clench his fists again, just like in the church. Does he already know that the same thing killed their mother?

He then says, "Yellow eyes? No, they normally have black eyes..."

"Well, now you know how to recognize him. But that's not all... your brother has a strange connection to him."

"What? Don't you dare to bullshit me! What kind of connection could Sam have with that thing?!" screams Dean, while trying to grab me by the collar in rage.

But I catch his hands and say, "Calm down, and I will tell you more."

I let go of his hands after he collected himself and continued to speak, "I told you that I can sense the beings around me, right? Well, it's more like I can sense their auras, which everyone has.

For example, your aura is strong for a human and has its own small characteristics. However, it still has a clockwise rhythm, like every human aura has.

But your brother's is different. It is strong like yours but has an unstable tact, as if something interferes with it..."

---

"You seriously expect me to believe that my brother is some kind of freak or monster just because you 'felt his aura'?"

"No, he is still a human... but the demon did something to him, or has a mental link with him that influences him deeply."

"And why do you think the demon did that? Sam mentioned he sees the future in his dreams sometimes. So maybe he's just some kind of psychic or somethin' like that."

Well, this or the demon sends him these visions...

"I know this because I encountered the yellow-eyed demon on two occasions while I was connected to your brother. The first time took place in the church when I healed him.

Suddenly, I sensed the yellow-eyed demon's aura within Sam and my spell tried to extract it from him, but it appears to have been unsuccessful... because his aura is still unstable."

"Well, that is... is fan-freakin'-tastic," says Dean while grabbing his head and leaning against my car. Then he realizes something, and asks, "You said twice, and the second time?"

"Right now before he collapsed, I saw a few of his memories, and the last one was very interesting."

"How?" asks Dean, intrigued.

"It was the day your mother died... in Sam's nursery. The demon was there, watching over him until your mother interrupted him."

Dean's eyes widen, and he clenches his fist so hard that blood starts to drip down from them...

"I knew it, so it really killed mom too... but why Sam? What the hell does that thing want from him?"

I shrug and say, "No idea, but I'm sure that he's playing some kind of a game, and your brother is part of it."

This silences Dean for a while, then he says determined, "We gotta find Dad! He's the one who knows what to do in a situation like this,"

"Well, good for you, that the spell worked." I tap on the map, which is still lying on my car.

He turns to it and looks at the location, then says in disbelief, "Lawrence, Kansas... that can't be."

"Why so?" I ask him, raising a brow.

"That is our hometown..."

"Dean, what happened?" asked Sam, drowsy after opening the passenger door of the Impala.

"You are awake?" says Dean and walks towards his brother, but then suddenly stops after probably remembering what I told him.

Sam sees this and asks, "Is something wrong?"

"Ah, no! We finally got a clue. The spell actually worked, and it looks like Dad's in Lawrence,"

"Really there? Well, then let's go!"

So Dean decided to keep it to himself... well sooner or later the demon will appear again anyway, and I hope it is not too late by then for them...

I grab the map and fold it, then take the police notebook I got from the Djinn and write down my number before walking to the brothers.

"Well, it seems we are finished here, so I will be on my way. Call me if you guys encounter something above your pay grade, and maybe I'll come and help you out." I say and give the dumbfounded Dean the note with my phone number.

He probably didn't expect that, but I'm kinda intrigued by the yellow-eyed demon... I turn around to go to my car when Sam says, "Wait, what about Stanford?"

"I told Dean everything I know about it, so ask him." I say with a wave of my hand and open the door of my Mustang to sit down.

When I start the engine, Dean comes by, and I open the window.

"How should I even save you on my phone?"

"Well, my driver's license says Aiden Cross, so you can use that."

This confuses him for a second, but then he says, "Will do, see ya," and taps on the car roof.

"Bye." I close the window and continue my journey to Toledo.

---

Sadly, I didn't know what giving them my number would get me into. And only discovered later what it meant to be involved with the Winchester brothers...

Or I would have stuck with them after finding Cthylla because they attract the craziest beings. However, since someone with my abilities is always useful, I still heard from them a lot.

Unfortunately, most of the time, when they had already messed things up...

My small break out of the police station was also not without consequences, and I crossed paths with Agent Henriksen a few times after that.

And I also solved the mystery about the two Chuck Norris guys, but that is a story for later...
