4 Chapter 3: Neutral Blood

Elrisha

12:30 noon

Silence still fills the private research laboratory 1 since Mirna and I was stock on dealing with fifty failed reactions with different blood types over ten possible blood samples were still sitting on the test tubes.

"Fifty failed reactions…that's many." Mirna groaned as she lightly pushed the microscope away from her before she removed her eyeglasses then pinched the bridge of her nose.

"And ten on the waiting list." I added which made her stood up from her seat and went back to the locker table.

"Let's eat lunch, Lady Elrisha." I heard her whining voice which made me giggled all by myself. Good thing she doesn't hear that.

"I told you to call me Elrisha since it's just two of us in this room." I flatly told her while I was tidying my working station.

"Fine, Elrisha. Let's eat. I don't want to think of those blood for the time being." I chuckled as I heard her whined like an irritated teenager.

"Alright. Let me clean up here." I said before removing my gloves and threw them on the trash by the glass doorway.

I leaned over the glass doorway as I watched Mirna, eat her late lunch while writing something over her notes. As I was carefully watching her, I noticed that there was something revolving around her aura. I know I can't see things like that since I don't have any abilities like any blessed vampires that I've known or met from my entire life. Her aura was as cold as sunny winter but something was also added, piercing fiery eyes of a big cat.

"Elrisha! Are you still there?" Mirna's voice invaded my ears which snapped me from staring at her.

"Sorry, I'm just thinking about how we could make a real FRSil without having any failed reaction." I answered as I walked toward her locker table.

"What reaction were looking for?" she wondered as she's munching her tuna salad.

"A kind of blood that could heal another blood along with silver which also applicable with everyone." I wished as I got to take a seat next to her and check her notes that she's writing a while ago.

"Wow, that's a lot." She chuckled as little but her tone really gets what I wanted.

"I know but we could make something close to it." I suggested since I am not sure if we could make even full med of that blood tablet.

"Hmm, we could. We could start by making full FRSil then make another half FRSil or quarter maybe." She added to my suggestion which made me smirked since I like the way she thinks whenever it comes to her work.

"That's good. We could try that." I smirked before giving her notes back since I made some markings over her notes.

As I handed that to her I go back to the laboratory to prepared another set of different blood types on the test tubes and a drop of silver on the watch glass. With a syringe, I took different measurements of each blood type to the silver and waited for the kind of reaction that I am looking for. The blood should be thick but not less and the silver should be mixing or uniting with the white and red blood cells. To get that kind of reaction, we need to look over it at the microscope and Mirna was the one who's handling it. As soon as she got back from her late lunch, she immediately took charge of checking the reactions that we're been wanting to get. At each look that Mirna did on the microscope with the different blood types that have silver, she quickly took notes over it before handing them to me. I quickly took some time to read them and the rare blood type AB with silver was close enough to the reaction that we want. It's almost perfectly done.

"AB is close enough. Let's start there." I stated as I compared my notes to hers and it was almost close to what I am picturing in my head.

"I agree. Better to discard these samples." Mirna chuckled as she starts discarding the blood samples that we don't need anymore.

"Be careful on them." I reminded her while I was scribbling another note that contained the combined notes that we gathered from the mixtures to reactions of our experiment over the types of blood.

While I was writing down combined notes and checking the almost perfect blood sample for another reaction, I suddenly smelled something tasty and alluring. I know that I am full but this scent was really invading my nostrils and I wanted it. I wanted to taste and devour it but when I realized where my thoughts going, I snapped myself and quickly look where it was coming from. I immediately followed the scent that I smell which led me to the disposal room. My eyes glared but as soon Mirna turned around to face me, she was sorry but my eyes landed over her bleeding palm. I dashed to where she was and quickly took her palm which out of the blue I inhaled her scent. I groaned but I quickly moved to get some clean cloth and disinfectant before pouring some into her wound. I wiped the blood out before dragging her to the locker table. I moved quickly and not at my vampire speed but it's quick enough to handle her bleeding palm to a stable one. I began stitching it and putting another disinfectant before covering it up with a bandage.

"What happened there?" I really wanted to shout at her but I must control the sudden thirst that's over my throat from smelling her intoxicating scent that I really, really wanted to taste.

"I…I accidentally held the three test tubes hard which I forgot that they're fragile glass." Mirna tried to laugh about it but she's failing over it.

"I told you to be careful." I released a defeated sigh.

"Sorry…" she apologized but I felt her stare fixed over my face which made me looked back at her.

I wanted to say something over her curious reaction but no words are forming between us. I just released a sigh before standing up and went back to the disposal room to clean the broken test tubes. I wanted to clean this up quickly but when I was in the middle of cleaning it up, her blood scent was still here. I followed it and something in me wanted to make sure about something. I am not sure what I am looking for but something was telling me to check her blood and I did. I took cotton buds and scoop Mirna's blood drop on the spot where I saw her bleeding.

"Everything is okay in there?" Mirna sudden voice echoed the disposal room that quickly snapped me from getting some of her blood on the floor.

"Yeah. Almost done cleaning here." I told her as I put the broken test tubes in the trash.

"Okay, I'll wrap up here since I have to check them to the infirmary." She told me with her uneasy smile.

"No, I'll wrap around here. You should go and check that. I'll let you know if there's something came up." I reassured her that I could do the cleaning here.

"Oh, okay." She wasn't that convinced. I think.

"Mirna, I don't want to strain your hand." I sigh as I told her my real reason why I suddenly act that way to her. I'm worried about her well-being.

"I know that's why I'm going home early. Just let me know if you need my help." She finally smiled at me that suddenly made my heart squeezed.

"Noted. Be safe." I returned her smile as I tried my best not to let her know that she's making me feel something that I don't want to entertain.

"Thanks, Elrisha." She genuinely said before leaving me at the disposal room and to the lab.

"You've got to be kidding me." I released a defeated sigh while my left hand was over my chest. I am trying to calm myself since my mate whipped off my feet just there. Well, she also did that before – that very night that we kissed.

Anyway, as I was left alone in the lab, I immediately went to check my curiosity over Mirna's blood. I know that she's a human to begin with, but there was something about her that she's not, maybe, aware of. I actually couldn't believe the result that I am seeing over the microscope.

"She has dominant blood." I mumbled under my breath while I was checking more about her blood and testing it over the other sample blood around here.

"Her blood could eliminate anything that it touches and silver is indeed complementing it without failed reaction. It's the kind of blood that we've been looking for. The neutral blood." I added to my hypothesis to what I am seeing which I also took down some notes regarding it.

"I better tell her soon but what kind of human being that has that kind of blood aside from type O." I wondered as I started to wrap up around here since it was also getting late.

Mirna

I couldn't believe it. All I know was that Elrisha was being tensed and worried but those blue-grey eyes – I mean, those beautiful deep mauve-grey eyes were totally taking my breath away. Wait, her eyes were typical blue-grey eyes, right? Oh! Whatever! I love those eyes to keep watching over me and I know it was exaggerating but that's what I am feeling already. Wait a minute…am I feeling this toward my superior because I have a crush on her?

"Oh boy…I do have a crush on her. My superior. My Elrisha." I groaned as I put my palm over my face since I feel so embarrassed. I just called her 'my Elrisha' and that's not really a good sign, does it?
