16 He Did……

Having started to get used to the way they woke her up, Yennefer awoke the next day before they even arrived in her chamber.

She inhaled and exhaled deeply, then stretched her body a bit.

For some reason she couldn't tell, she wasn't feeling happy at all.

She glanced at her right arm and smiled a bit on seeing that the injury had almost healed.

"Good morning, My la-"

Livia and Masha, who had walked into the chamber, halted speaking in a bit of surprise as they didn't expect her to be up before they arrived.

Yennefer rolled her eyes at them and stepped down from the bed.

She walked into the washroom, and quickly, Masha and Livia hurried to fill the tub for her.

They did this in less than a few minutes, and while they were giving Yennefer her bath, they couldn't help but notice the gloomy expression on her face.

Livia bit her lower lip, finding it hard to hold herself back from asking what was wrong.

"My lady..." She called, and Yennefer turned her head to look at her.

"Yes..." Yennefer answered, and she took a low breath.

"Um... is everything okay? You look unhappy."

She asked, and a bit surprised by the fact that she noticed and asked in concern, Yennfer rapidly blinked her eyes before a slight smile formed on her lips.

"Oh... it's nothing actually. I guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed." She replied, and certainly not believing her, Livia arched her brow at her.

"Are you sure?" She inquired, and Yennefer let out a long, deep breath.

"Well... yes, but I have a question that I want to ask you." She sighed, and Livia beamed at her.

"Go on."

"Well, let's say you were once living a miserable life and one day, someone offers you a new chance at life, where you thought that your life would get better and brighter, but in the end, it didn't. Would you take it?"

She inquired, and a bit surprised by such a question, Livia stared at her for a few moments before letting out a soft breath.

"Hmm, I would take it." She replied, and not expecting that answer, Yennefer furrowed her brows at her.

"Really?" She asked, and Livia nodded her head.

"Yes, why not? It's called a "new life for a reason. " She shrugged, and a slight frown settled in between Yennefer's brows.

"Even if it's no different from your previous life?"

She pried further, and Livia nodded.

"Even if it's no different from my previous life. Listen, my lady, If it is called a new life, it definitely won't be the same as your past life, even if things may not turn out as you expected."

"It's impossible to have a life where you don't deal with hardship or the difficult things of life. We are the ones that make a difference, you see. We work to make things easier for our relief."

"An example is his majesty. He may be the emperor and have all the riches of the world, but it still doesn't mean that his life is easy."

"He has his hardships too, just like the crown prince. It's not easy trying to please millions of citizens and be a good emperor that they look up to."

She explained, and seems to get her point, Yennefer smiled.

Maybe she is right.

Maybe this really is a new life, but she will still have to face some harsh situations to shape that peaceful future that she wants.

A soft smile appeared on her face, and she beamed at Livia.

"Thank you." She appreciated, and having not expected a word of gratitude from her, Livia smiled back in surprise.

"You-you welcome." She replied, and Yennefer nodded her head.

She finished her bath and once they had dried up her body, she walked out of the washroom.

Knowing that today was the first day of her training, Masha dressed her up in training attire and parked her hair up in a bun.

"Try not to get too much sand in your hair, my lady."

Livia reminded her and she chuckled before nodding her head.

"Okay." She agreed, and once they were done with getting her ready, she took a long deep breath and proceeded out of the chamber.

She turned to the guards standing at her door and reached out her hands for them to chain her.

They looked at her and then glanced at each other in confusion.

Also confused, she gazed at them, unsure why they weren't chaining her wrist.

"You really think that you can train with chains on your wrists?"

That one annoying voice that only she hears often and really dislikes resounded in her ears, and she turned around to face the person who was Luthiel with a grimace on her face.

"What do you mean by that? I am not the one who chains my wrist whenever I step out of this chamber, you know."

She grinned in annoyance, and not bothering to reply to her words, Luthiel turned around and began to walk away, his hands holding on to the hilt of his sword that was hanging on his waist.

Yennefer scoffed and followed after him.

Livia and Masha, who had yet to leave, poked their heads out of the door and couldn't help but giggle.

"He actually spoke!" Masha exclaimed, and Livia nodded her head in deep shock.

"He did..." She agreed, as hearing Luthiel speak was like running for heaven's gate.

He doesn't even speak to the crown prince, so it's honestly surprising to them to hear him speak so casually to Yennefer.
