Am I a Vampire?

"Am I a vampire?" Jonathan said, pointing to himself.

"No way, it can't be."

Black Rose nodded confidently. "Only vampires drank blood from other creatures."

Jonathan frowned. Rethinking the assumption given by Black Rose.

Even though he had just done it, drinking her blood, still… it couldn't be denied that it was his first time doing such a thing.

Black Rose's assumption saying that he is a vampire has many loopholes. And Jonathan couldn't take it for granted.

"No, I am not a vampire. I am just a human." Said Jonathan, shaking his head.

"Humans don't drink blood." Black Rose argued.

"Some of them drink blood." Said, Jonathan.

In fact, he wasn't entirely wrong.

Some human groups believed drinking blood, especially children's blood, could help them prevent aging and live longer.

Although it has never been scientifically proven.

"I am not. I will kill her by my hands, by my way." Jonathan's hateful feelings were still burning.

"All right. Prove me wrong then." Said Black Rose didn't want to budge.

Jonathan returned the challenging gaze of the woman in front of him thoughtfully.

However, even at a more extended glance, the woman looks very charming.

In fact, he firmly believed that Black Rose had the most beautiful face among all the women he had ever met in his life so far.

The tension between the two disturbed the toddler girl's deep sleep.

And she gradually sat down, got off the couch, and walked with a half-unsteady approach to Jonathan.

Both Jon and Black Rose just looked at her in silence.

"Dadda."

Nerissa raised her tiny hands as if asking to be lifted from where she stood.

The girl pursed her rosy lips as she stared at Jonathan through her round, watery eyes from yawning.

"Come here."

Jonathan lifted the girl and sat her on his lap. His actions succeeded in causing Black Rose to reveal a very rare, sweet smile.

"I am glad that you are accepting her as your daughter." Black Rose said, sounding relieved.

Jonathan inhaled the sweet peach scent from Nerissa's thick hair. He couldn't stop himself from stroking the little girl's beautiful hair.

"Her mother must be really beautiful," Jon said reflexively, admiring Nerissa's adorable face.

And that made him flinch in surprise.

After all, giving birth to a daughter alone was impossible, especially since he was a man.

Jonathan realized that he had forgotten something fundamental.

"Who's her mother?" he asked while looking at Black Rose's eyes which softened because she was busy admiring Nerissa's behavior.

Black Rose tilted her head as if thinking. She didn't give an answer right away.

"You are right. Who's her mother?" Black Rose repeated, throwing back the same question.

Jonathan blinked. At first, he thought that Black Rose was just satirizing him. But after a few minutes of silence, he realized Black Rose meant it.

Black Rose explained that each baby fairy has information about the parents of their foster babies.

However, she swore that the information about Nerissa's parents that she had from the beginning was only from Jonathan.

If Jonathan hadn't asked, Black Rose might not have realized that something was missing from her information.

"The information has been missing. Never happened before. There must be something wrong with the database we have." Black Rose's gaze turned blank.

At the same time, she had accumulated several irregularities at once.

"Dadda." Nerissa couldn't stay still.

After fully waking up from her sleep, the girl stood on Jon's thighs, and her hands were busy touching Jon's face until he was overwhelmed.

"All right, don't worry about that. We'll figure out who's her mother. I think I know how to do that."

Black Rose looked doubtful. Her eyebrows clashed. "How?"

"We'll go to the hospital." Jonathan rose to his feet and lifted Nerissa in his arms.

"But first, I need both of you to change your dresses."

Jonathan drove his mother's old Porsche.

He managed to convince Black Rose to wear her mother's casual clothes even though it's unimportant, considering that none of Morting in the hospital could see her.

Nerissa wore a toddler boy jumpsuit. Jonathan's used his old clothes that were still stored in the attic of his mother's house.

Luckily, Jonathan had just cleaned the attic and found them.

"What is the hospital? Is it a safe place for Nerissa?" asked Black Rose curiously.

"Of course. It is the safest place for everyone. Sometimes, people return to life after claiming to be dead there." Jonathan obviously thought that Black Rose was just being sarcastic.

"Dadda?"

Nerissa giggled. She really liked the view of deserted streets from the car window.

Black Rose embraced her very tightly even though both wore seat belts.

Seeing the existence of a beautiful woman with a flat expression and a beautiful baby girl next to him made Jonathan chuckle reflexively.

He accidentally imagined his life in the future, which seemed to come faster than he had planned.

Medical technology was advanced enough to store DNA data for all registered people living there. Whether that person was still alive or dead.

They also have Jonathan's DNA data. And according to him, he was very sure that they also had the DNA data of Nerissa's biological mother.

Black Rose wanted to repeat her blood reveal magic again to find out information about Nerissa's mother.

However, Jonathan refused. He preferred to use a way that was not painful and safe.

"We must collect her blood sample first and register to the data bank." Explained the nurse at the receptionist desk who spoke to Jon.

"And forgive me, sir. But pets are not allowed here in the hospital."

Jonathan carried Nerissa, who didn't seem interested in her surroundings.

Meanwhile, perched on his shoulder was an adult black raven that was none other than Black Rose in another form.

"This is not just an ordinary pet. This is a therapy raven." Jonathan said, very sure that Black Rose could not have been ordered to wait in the car while the inspection was being carried out.

The female nurse raised her eyebrows, disapproving.

"A therapy raven for my beautiful daughter." He added. Still trying his best to convince the nurse.

Nerissa giggled as if it was something funny to her. She got the nurse's attention.

"She's beautiful. But her therapy raven should stay in the front door." The nurse still rejected Jon's request.

She smiled lopsidedly before caressing Nerissa's chubby cheeks.

However, before she drove Black Rose away once more,

Suddenly a thin black mist spread out of the raven's body and penetrated the nurse's respiratory system.

A second after, she blinked awkwardly, looking very confused. And her decision has changed.

"This way, Mr. Burke."

Jonathan was surprised, but he did not say anything. He just needed to walk, following the nurse who escorted him.

While walking through a long hallway, another notification appeared.

[999 blood essence sources have been found nearby]

Suddenly, a very torturous feeling of thirst enveloped Jonathan again.

His chest felt very tight.

His steps stopped, and he almost dropped Nerissa down.

"Argh …" Jonathan clutched his chest, and at the same time, he realized that the muscles in his arms had contracted again. It stuck out with a strange bluish tint.

[1,120 blood essence sources have been found nearby]

That number continued to grow.

Jonathan took a deep breath. A very pleasing sweet scent seemed to tickle his nose.

"Mr. Burke?" called the female nurse, looking back because she hadn't heard Jonathan's footsteps since a few seconds ago.

"Are you all right, Mr. Burke?"

Jonathan tried to control himself. But his chest has been on ups and downs, and his breathing felt heavy.

His eyes were tightly shut, and felt like they were throbbing violently from within.

"Mr. Burke?"

"Dadda?"

Jonathan heard all the voices. There were too many sounds he could listen to at this time, as if the sensitivity of his sense of hearing had improved drastically.

Even the sound of water droplets from the room he hadn't seen could be heard.

"I told you. You're a vampire." Black Rose whispered, deciding to fly off Jonathan's shoulder and move to Nerissa, who stood on the floor alone while staring at her daddy innocently.

Although Jonathan still had most of his consciousness, he couldn't bear that thirst.

"Am I a vampire?" he growled, questioning himself.
