Sisterly

Kimberly stirred. She could feel something cool and comforting on her forehead.

When she opened her eyes, she found Jasmine wiping her head.

What was happening? Jasmine taking of her? So tenderly?

She smiled and when Jasmine saw it, she pursed her lips, like she'd been caught kissing a nerd.

"Don't think too much, it's just this once." She warned her, then dipped the cloth in water again.

"I don't care, I just think you would be a nice nurse."

"Nurse? Huh," she scoffed. "Probably in my next life, but you probably won't see me doing it."

Kimberly turned a bit more pale. "You don't want me in your next life?"

Jasmine looked at her like she had just grown two heads. "I said probably. And there might be nothing like a next life."

"We don't know for sure..." Kimberly started, ready to argue to the end, but Jasmine wasn't.

"Hey, Princess, you're living a fantasy, this is real life." She interrupted her, but instead of Kimberly getting angry, she was pleasantly pleased.

"You called me a Princess." She smiled, showing her beautiful upper teeth.

"Stop that, you look like a fool."

"Jasmine!" She sat up and hit her.

But when she saw her surrounding, she stopped, remembering what had happened.

The curtains were a beautiful velvet, almost black and in contrast, the sofas were white and the bedsheet she was sitting on was pink. That was unexpected. But it wasn't time to tease anyone about it.

"Jasmine... Sorry." She said slowly. "I was mad about my Collection and I don't know when it all happened." She felt very stupid apologizing like a coward, but what else could she do?

It was like, they were having too much to call a little of a misunderstanding, and now, they were talking like everything had been normal, normaler than it ever could have been since Jasmine never really talked like this, sabotaging a trip seemed normal with the awkward way she was apologizing and it was all just...

So weird...

In a way that made her uncomfortable.

Notwithstanding the fact that she felt so... Void now.

Empty.

She frowned in confusion.

It was weird to see, but Jasmine bit her thumb in thought, then reached out her hand to Kimberly's forehead and rubbed it. It was cool, smoothing her hair to the back.

It was... Sisterly.

"I will teach you a more severe lesson if you haven't learnt from this one." And here she was thinking she was being sisterly!

"Hehe, don't worry," she laughed nervously, "you're too much of a scare-crow to not scare me into doing it again."

Jasmine got up from the bed and was about to ask her if she was up to going home; she could tell her Driver to send her home, but Kimberly's stomach rumbled and she rubbed it.

"Do you have any food?" She asked shamelessly.

She was her sister, after all!

The bell in the room went off. The food was ready.

"Phew, everything is working in my favour. Let's go eat." She grabbed Jasmine's hand like she was the host and literally dragged her down the stairs. And they were conversing happily or more of Kimberly was blabbing happily.

The Servants were stunned.

What was happening? Youngest Mistress was almost killing Young Mistress and now they were like the best of Sisters? Maybe the Earth would kiss the sun tomorrow.

"How did you know I love everything on this table?" She asked, stuffing food in her mouth. Jasmine just watched her, she didn't touch anything and there was a plate full of food in front of her.

"Funny story." She said without humour, but Kimberly liked every story. And Jasmine said it was funny.

"I want to hear it." She said. Jasmine wasn't sure how she looked so interested while she was eating.

"See," she said again, then thrummed her hands on the table. "We're sisters." She said flatly, causing Kimberly to stick out her tongue at her.

"I thought you were saying something important. How dramatic you were, telling it." She was about to go back to eating, but just then she noticed Jasmine wasn't. "Aren't you eating?"

"I'm not hungry." She said and put a slice of dessert on Kimberly's plate. "Eat."

"Your phone is ringing." Kimberly pointed out, she had silenced her phone.

"It's Beryl."

"Hmm, how did you know? You didn't even look at it."

Jasmine just picked up her phone and showed her the screen.

"Girlfriend, you haven't been fair to me!" Beryl's voice came through the phone the instant she answered and Jasmine threw her phone at Kimberly.

"What?" She mouthed, not understanding why Jasmine would do such a thing. Especially something concerning personal property.

After that picking up her call incident, Man, Kimberly remained wary of touching her stuff!

Jasmine just shrugged, telling her she could answer or hang up.

"Is anybody there? Jasmine? Hey, it's Beryl!" Beryl's voice came again and Kimberly didn't have the heart to hang up.

"I know who it is, Beryl," Kimberly said through clenched teeth, glaring at Jasmine. But, the girl couldn't care less. "How have you been?"

"Kimberly?" Beryl started, unsure if it was really her. "Kimberly, where's your sister?"

Kimberly wanted to say Jasmine wasn't home, but since Jasmine put her in this tough position, she might as well pay her back in her own coin. "She's taking a bath, she will be out in about... say 3 minutes?" She glanced at Jasmine and noticed she was 'not' happy.

There was silence on the other end, just for a while, before Beryl let out a sigh. "Fine, I'll call back. Bye."

"Bye, see you later."

"Yeah, but your sister doesn't want to see me." She seemed very down-cast.

Kimberly was quick to reassure her, however. "Maybe you just call at the wrong times. Just call back later, she might be out by then, Okay?"

"Yes, I get. It's been long, by the way, but I can't talk for now."

Oh, really?

She couldn't talk, but she had the time to call her Sister, huh?

Where the favouritism was coming and going was already getting obvious.

Kimberly was pleased with herself when the call came to an end.

"You could have told her to call back next year." She told Kimberly in the same flat tone.

"Wait," Kimberly dropped her spoon, "are you avoiding her?"

"Why would I?"

"You tell me! You don't seem to like her around anymore. Are you fed-up or something, Jas... Mine? Did she annoy you in any way?"

"Kimberly, mind your business. Why should I be answerable to you?"

"It was a yes or no question."

"No."

"Okay. That was exactly what I needed! Thank you! So simple something to say and you've been stressing yourself out since." Kimberly dropped the topic, picking up her spoon again.

It was obvious she didn't want to talk about Beryl.
