Intimate

Throughout dinner, Kimberly could only steal glances at Jasmine, it was still a bit awkward after she knew that Jasmine had known about her scheme all along. She didn't really care about those sometimes, but for some reason, she was filled with embarrassment!

"Kimberly, where's Baxter?" She looked up, a bit timidly and reluctantly.

"What?" She had not been attending. But it got back to her like a bolt of lightening. "Oh, Baxter!" Her nose wrinkled a bit in thought. "Fine, I guess. Missing you, I guess too." Jasmine thought that was a lie.

Despite that, a broom stick of fire lit up in her heart sending warmth to parts of her that melted some of the ice away. Someone missing her sounded sweet to the ears, for she never thought a person would have such big a heart to. Who would ever miss her? It was a very ridiculous thought. Nobody had ever done that, no one is doing that and certainly not a person would ever do that, probably not in the next life even, her face turned sour.

"And I'm contemplating on changing his name." Kimberly sat up straighter, feeling much more cheerful. Jasmine smiled wryly, for a while now, she had been trying to make the sentiments in Kimberly normal, for things to get better between them, like before. Even if their relationship had been positive on one side, the awkwardness had never been so palpable, it had never really been there, she was trying to make all those negative emotions that stopped Kimberly from seeing her as someone she could confide in just disappear. But now, she was actually feeling down-cast after achieving her objective? So ridiculous!

"To what?" Ciara jumped at the question, trying as much as possible to hang on every word anyone said, pleasing people was one of her many expertise.

Jasmine just decided to close her mouth and focus on looking around. With the way she was feeling, the wrong words might just spill out. The immense negative feeling she had about Ciara but comforting.

"I'm not sure yet, still searching."

"You need suggestions?"

"No, I want to make that decision on my own." Kimberly dismissed her with a wave of her hand.

Ciara toned down. She thought the usual response was supposed to be the other way round, looking for a person who has recommendations, someone had proved her wrong any.

Remembering one of the sole reasons they were here, Jasmine peered at Dylan.

"Waylen is not here?"

Dylan paused. "You miss him so much already?" A perfect brow drew up.

To that, she didn't wish to deny.

"Of course, we had an appointment."

"App..." Waylen entered just then. And he watched her eyes light up beautifully.

"Where have you been?" She queried, but sweetly.

Waylen's brow drew together as he gazed down lovingly at her. "You missed me?"

Dylan felt surprised at their intimate choice of words, he eyed Waylen pointedly.

"Yeah." Holding out her arms, she beckoned him closer.

Dylan once again was shocked to the core as she got up from her seat and hugged Waylen heartily. Have they been meeting after that day? Never had he seen her be to close with someone, so surely, this was an eye-opener.

"Sit here." She patted the seat beside her and he obliged. "You're a late-comer?"

Dylan felt Waylen eye him before he whispered in Jasmine's ear. "You don't expect my Devilish Boss to be lenient with me, do you?"

She nodded her understanding continuously.

"Any plans for shopping? Should I give up?" She asked casually and eyebrows raised.

Under the table, he put a hand on her thigh lightly, her straight-forwardness was too much. She raised an eyebrow at him and he squeezed her thigh in response, he didn't really want people to know they were having an inner conversation. She narrowed her eyes at him before she turned and addressed everybody, except Ciara, obviously.

"You know, he dropped me home the other day when I wasn't... In the best of moods, so..." She trailed off, sure enough they understood.

Anthony came in then.

"Someone wants to see you." He bent close to her ear and whispered. Her body tensed at once.

"Tell her to get out."

How did she know it was a 'she'? Any of the ways, he complied.

He came back later, looking annoyed.

"According to her, it is imperative."

It took all her will power not to whip around to face him.

"Then..." She started, but Hazel cut her off.

"Don't you think you should check?"

She seemed to regain her poise. With a sigh, she told Anthony. "Tell her now is not the best time, I'll see her later."

"Who is it?" Kimberly asked, her interest piqued at the rate at which Jasmine wanted her out.

"A bundle of nerves."

A hand went to clutch her stomach as she felt the pain renew itself, her face changed to a light scowl and she glared at Dylan. The smile he flashed her was sensual and extremely wicked, she found her head shaking at him.

"You're such a jerk." She couldn't help muttering under her breath, not that she didn't mean for him to hear it.

His brow just raised slowly again and when she made the mistake of peering up at him, she regretted it as he flashed her that apologetic yet hypnotizing smile.

"Trust I didn't mean that to happen, Darling."

"What's done is done." She threw at him with some force yet he only shrugged his shoulders unaffected and she eyed him with resignation, he was proving absolutely impossible.
