Ice Emperor, I’ll Melt Your Heart

I came from the modern world, and read your story. You were the male lead of ‘The Legendary Ice Emperor’ novel, collecting a harem of women to become your cultivation partners as you continued to get stronger. You possessed no romantic love for any of them because of your ice heart, yet chose the obnoxious white lotus to become your wife at the end. Such a story I hated, but why did I dream of you who do not exist in my world? Before I knew it, I transmigrated into the body of the first female character introduced to you at the start of the story, Fenghuang Fei Lan. However, she was killed off a few chapters later and made you start your path towards immortal cultivation. I thought I’d accept my fate, but seeing you made me change my mind. I don’t want to die again, but I’ll do my best to make you the hero of the novel like it’s supposed to be. But it seems like we made a new story instead.

Becoming Fenghuang Fei Lan (1)

Three days have passed since I've woken up with black hair and blue eyes as Fenghuang Fei Lan. The family members and the maids of the Fenghuang clan all thought that I had hit my head hard and turned into a different person overnight.

But they don't know that a person from the modern times was in the body of their common-born second miss after dying in a plane explosion traveling to China.

And that person. . .

Was me who became Fenghuang Fei Lan, born with the Azure Phoenix spirit.

This spirit was the inferior version of the Blood Phoenix spirit which is the essential spirit to have in order to become the next clan leader. No one liked the spirit of Fei Lan's and deemed her inferior because she was also born from a commoner mother, but I think a phoenix with blue flames is the coolest thing ever.

In day one, I found that there was more to Fei Lan than I thought that was never covered in the novel. She wasn't just some second miss with the Azure Phoenix spirit but was someone who felt hopeless in life, emptiness in her heart, and didn't take care of her appearance that well.

Those were all her qualities until she met the hero, and slowly regained her hope, feelings, and also took care of her appearance from then on. Fei Lan had no friends in anyone but the hero, and that sparked life within her character development before it all came down to tragedy in the first arc.

It was one of the reasons to hate the harem novel, 'The Legendary Ice Emperor', because of all people why did the author decided to kill her off after her character development?

Fenghuang Fei Lan was the hero's first companion and friend, having to encourage him to take on his trials and continue cultivating his spirit until he could evolve it. She was the sole reason that he could strive forward to become an immortal cultivator and become one of the strongest people in the Aurora Continent.

In my opinion, their adventures together would've been much better than the whole harem trope of him collecting women throughout his journey with only a few mentions of Fei Lan here and there. The only good thing he did for her was that he refused to take her eldest sister, Fenghuang Huohua, into his harem because he felt that it wasn't right to do so.

The rest of the novel is what follows most harem genres. The only reason why I followed the story to the end was because I thought the hero would get to see Fenghuang Fei Lan again by reviving her or see her become a goddess, since there were obvious hints that he would see her again but it never came.

Again, why was the idea never there when you showed many hints? Don't give hope like that to your readers.

But now that I became Fenghuang Fei Lan in this life, my theories and thoughts were clear and broken. I quickly became aware that this was not just a world within the novel anymore but a living, breathing world filled with life and real life characters with the same names as the novel characters.

There would be times when I would hide behind the bushes to overhear the maids talking about their love lives and families, see the male servants talk about recent news and drama to each other at the garden, and watch the youngest family member play with a kite with an older member of the clan.

These discoveries made me realize how little I would live up to the previous Fenghuang Fei Lan, who regained hope just to give it to her first best friend and dying after doing so.

If my fate is to die as Fenghuang Fei Lan just like the original novel, then I should fulfill my role to make sure that he would become one of the strongest people in this world.

. . .That was my primary motive, but even as I continue to prepare for the scenarios, there was nothing that I could prepare for death. Dying the first time was already scary and traumatic enough, dying the second time after befriending and spending time with the main character would just feel like I've broken their heart and made them despair.

With these thoughts, I was hesitant to fulfill the role that the novel had prepared for a character who was going to die before the real story started.

I wasn't ready.

I was not Fenghuang Fei Lan.

But it was undeniable that I am her now.

Should I even fulfill the original role?

I was only human, not a cultivator or an immortal.

All I've got was a human mind and a human heart.

But. . .that's okay.

Humans have the potential to improve and evolve.

I may not be the original, but I now know for sure that I'll live on as Fenghuang Fei Lan and show her a future that was stripped from her life. I will strive to improve myself and go beyond my human limits just so you'll live and give hope to your first best friend.

For you, and for Bing Xingyun.

I’ve forgotten that first-person perspectives are my kind of thing. It made me write so much. . .

But here is the first chapter, and I hope you enjoy!
