The Power of A God

The Power of A God

 -

"Prince Cerulle and Princess Eira. You may begin."

Those were all the words I needed to hear before charging at Cerulle. Since Cerulle was an earth and dark type magic user, fighting him at a far range was not the wisest option. The raw power of dark magic is unparalleled, yet its sluggishness allows for preemptive strikes.

Although I knew he used Earth magic, I wasn't sure how it would relate to his other abilities. Therefore, I planned to use flight magic to counteract the earthquake he caused the other day.

As I reached him, he didn't even move, which meant he wasn't even fast enough to keep up with my speed, so I used one of my most reliable spells.

"Eternal Freeze,"

I watched Cerulle become coated in Ice until his entire body was a solid block of Ice.

The crowd erupted in applause at the sight of my spell, however I knew Cerulle had not been defeated yet.

Just out of the corner of my eye, I saw a pitch-black entity appear behind me. Which caused me to whip around my head.

As I did, what looked like an arm of the entity reached out to grab my leg, but I leaped into the air to dodge it. The moment I went airborne, I felt a sharp pain in the shoulder of my right arm.

Blood was pouring from my shoulder when I looked at it. The dark crimson blood quickly stained my beautiful white dress.

'How? He never touched me with anything.'

Before I could wonder about my strange injury, Cerulle had moved outside of the ice he was encased in and struck me in the gut.

The pain was bearable, and I countered his attack by channeling my Mana into my hands and creating a sword made of Ice Mana.

After training with Farru for so long, I could maintain its plasma-like state effortlessly. I made a forward slash to push him backward, figuring he would avoid it, but he did not, and my sword severed his head from his neck.

I was surprised to see him beaten so easily, but I knew I hadn't killed him because of the barrier. All fatal injuries would be healed when it was raised, but I noticed something was off.

The cheering of the crowd had vanished, and all that was visible was the pitch-black landscape that surrounded the pillar. It was like an empty, midnight abyss surrounding the pillar.

'Is this an illusion?'

Illusion magic was an unusual magic for a demon of the royal Demonshire Family to use. Cerulle was a special entity in his own family. He was the most compatible with the spirits of Earth and darkness.

In the battle against the humans, many of the Demonshire armies fell to the humans' more advanced magic philosophy. Illusion magic was a somewhat sophisticated magic back then, and it wasn't understood by the mages of Demonshire how to replicate its effects.

That was until Farru returned to Demonshire. He came back with an amazing amount of knowledge regarding humans' advanced magic. This is likely why Cerulle has access to this magic.

I quickly remembered the warning that Vasati gave me last night.

'Never stare into his eyes when they glow.'

His eyes were dull since the fight had begun. Never had they lit up with any sort of glow.

"Eira, do you like my present?"

A sinister voice that slightly resembled Cerulle's spoke. The words were followed by a black spear that pierced through my stomach. My legs gave out from under me, and I fell into the pool of blood that surrounded me.

"Eira, I can end all your pain if you beg me for mercy and swear allegiance to me. A powerful girl who can defend themselves would be a want for almost any Lord."

His disgusting mindset was put on display for me to witness once again, and I couldn't even believe that Vasati and he were siblings.

'Beg for his forgiveness? Does he believe he has already won?'

"I'm sure Vasati told you to never stare into my glowing eyes, but my power has already advanced past that point. If you ever look into my eyes, you have already lost the fight."

His boastful words ignited a sly smirk that curled my lips.

"How pitiful."

I uttered the words slightly above a whisper as I released all the Mana my body could contain. The best way to escape an illusion was to overpower it. There was no way that Cerulle could have more magic power than I did, so if used all the Mana my body could contain, I could escape his illusion.

I felt the pours of my body flow out Mana, and in moments I had become drenched in my magic power.

"Your illusions are useless against me."

I quickly rose from the pool of blood that surrounded me and when I opened my eyes, the clear blue sky and the screams of the crowd greeted me as I took a deep breath of fresh air.

Cerulle, who had stood still on the other side of the pillar, was now staring at me in fear.

Before he could ever blink, I was in front of him. I formed my usual blade of Ice Mana and severed his right arm from his shoulder.

"AHHH!"

His scream of pain wasn't enough to satisfy me, so I quickly aimed a strike targeting his left leg. The slash was met with resistance as he slid into my shadow and appeared behind me.

As I turned, we both made eye contact, and I felt his illusion magic try to overtake me once again, but I was ready this time.

"Absolute Zero,"

A bright blue light blinded the eyes of everyone who was watching momentarily and when they could see again, everything inside of the barrier had been frozen in time.

Cerulle had been stuck in his position, and I nonchalantly walked past him until I was standing directly under the throne in which King Azziros and the Demonshire Generals were.

"Is this the type of power you wanted to see me display, King Azziros?"

His face looked as frozen as Cerulle's did, despite not being under the influence of my magic. No one other than Phantom Gloom had seen me use this spell before, so I understood that revealing it to the public would cause a lot of shock and fear from the public.

"I'll show you all my next trick."

"Frosthold,"

As I pointed my index finger toward the sun, a flower covered in Ice sprouted from the center of the pillar and froze the entire pillar solid.

In moments, the entire pillar was encased in a solid sheet of ice. Cerulle couldn't even struggle his way free, as he was still frozen in time.

"If we continue this duel, I will shatter the Ice, and pieces of his body will fly into the air for wild Totori to feed on." My comment was directed to King Azziros, and he quickly stood from his throne and made an announcement.

"This duel is over! The victor is Princess of the Vampire Tribe, Eira de Bethencourt!"
