Chapter 4

After snapping out, Caroline ran towards Scarlett and continued their journey to the dress shop.

Scarlett wandered around the city, she remembers seeing this in the webtoon, the art was pretty and all but the real-life medieval-looking houses and shops are god damn remarkable. She then slowly started to notice something isn't right.

"Hey, Ai. Why aren't there any memories of Scarlett coming to this city? Is this memory system faulty or something?"

"Hmmm, I'm impressed that you've realised it, knowing that you're quite dull when it comes to common sense. To reply to your question, Scarlett never left the castle, hence you won't be having any memories of this place." Ai answered.

"Okay, rude. Another question, why does Scarlett only appears in 2 chapters when there are so many castle scenes in the webtoon?"

Ai went silence. Scarlett shrugs it off, thinking that Ai cannot reply to the questions that are directly related to the webtoon. She then turns to look at Caroline.

"Why do you want to buy a dress in the city when you can invite a tailor to your house?" She questioned Caroline.

"... I like this store." She replied.

Scarlett tries to strike up a conversation but felt a little awkward when Caroline keeps on giving short answers. She then gave up on having these small awkward talks and embrace the scenery around her.

They walked down the streets and finally found the small store, named "The Designer's", which Caroline likes. Inside the store, there were 3 designers, 2 tailors and a handful of customers.

The people in the store stared at the beauty who just entered the store. The eager designers crowd around Scarlett to promote their dresses while the others are flabbergasted.

"I would like to find a suitable dress for this lovely lady." Scarlett announced and point to the tensed Caroline.

They turned and eyed on Caroline, she was wearing an old fashion dress and her fringe was covering her eyes.

They then walked away, uninterested in entertaining Caroline.

" Pfft, my dresses won't suit her anyway." designer A scoffed.

"She should go to another store that sells those ugly dresses." designer B ridiculed.

After hearing their remarks, Caroline was embarrassed while Scarlett was fuming with anger.

After killing the two designers multiple times in her head, Scarlett noticed the third designer was still standing in front of them, smiling politely. Scarlett glimpsed at her name tag "Olivia, Designer."

"Dear customers, What type of dresses would you like to try on?" She asked.

Caroline was staring at Scarlett, expecting Scarlett to choose for her.

"Lady Caroline, Is there a dress you would like to try on?" Scarlett asked.

"I.. I don't know..." She replied while glancing around the shop.

Scarlett was shookth.

"Didn't she say that she liked this store? Don't tell me... she likes the store interior design and not the dresses..." Scarlett then shakes away the thought, thinking that it was impossible.

Scarlett replies to Olivia," Please select some dresses that are suitable for her wedding day."

Olivia's eyes glistened merrily and ran around the store to pick the dresses.

"Caroline, I thought you like this shop's dresses? There must be a dress that you really like!" Scarlett held her hand, wanting to walk around the shop.

Caroline instinctively pulls her hand away. Surprised, Scarlett turned and stare at her. A hurtful expression came across her face for a second before she could cover-up with a smile.

"Oh! Sorry... My hands are sweaty so I-I don't want you to t-touch it..." She stuttered while waving her hands to the side.

Scarlett sighs in relief and gave a cheeky smile.

"It's just water, who cares?" She held her hand again and drags her around the shop to look at the dresses. However, Caroline was too focused on her hand being held.

After trying out multiple dresses, Scarlett sighed. They've tried all the ball gown dresses that Olivia took but it didn't appeal to Scarlett.

"The designs are pretty but what is lacking...?" She thought to herself.

Scarlett looked at the Caroline, who is wearing one of the ball gown dress, and suddenly recalled what she has been looking for.

"Is there another type of dress silhouette?" Scarlett asked Olivia.

Olivia nods and shows her A-line, Princess and Empire dresses. Scarlett pinches the skin in between her eyebrow and sigh. This is stressing her out, there were no dresses that hug closely to the bride's body.

"Sorry... I don't suit any of these..." Caroline apologised.

Scarlett then shakes her head and said, " It's not your problem, it's mine. I wanted a dress that will show off your good figure."

Caroline widens her eyes in disbelief while the people around the store was shaken by her words. Caroline subconsciously covers her chest region, feeling a little exposed.

Scarlett, who didn't know what she said was considered embarrassing in this world, glanced at Olivia and asked for a paper and a pen. Olivia quickly retrieves the items and pass them to her.

Scarlett draws out the outline of a trumpet mermaid wedding dress. She was not an artist nor a designer so she couldn't draw out the patterns on the dress.

"Olivia, here. Make this dress in white and for the pattern on the dress, you'll be designing it." She passes the paper to Olivia and her jaw dropped.

Before leaving the store, Scarlett gave her screen number to Olivia.

"When you're done, please call me." Scarlett shakes her hand and left the store.

When she stepped out of the store, she could hear a scream from Olivia. The three of them, surprised by the scream, started to giggle.

"Lady Caroline! Let's have lunch before going back!" Scarlett asked while hooking Caroline's arm.

"O-oh.. I'm not sure if I can.. My family might get- erm... worried." she hesitated.

"You're with me, the princess of this kingdom! You're super safe!" Scarlett said as she points around the area, guards all around them patrolling.

Caroline wanted to decline but seeing Scarlett's enthusiasm, she couldn't say no.

They finally arrived at a cafe that Scarlett recommended here as she knew the place in the webtoon.

After waiting in the long queue, it was finally their turn. Scarlett and Caroline sat down while Adeline stands behind Scarlett.

"Adeline, take a seat! People will be looking at us weirdly!" She grabs Adeline's wrist and pulls her to the chair next to her.

Adeline sighed and took a seat. They glanced at the menu and shrieked in excitement. All pancakes are animal designed, even their coffee.

After taking a long time choosing, they finally raised their hands to order.

The three of them shriek again when the waiter appears.

The waiter was a cute little boy with wolf ears and a tail. It was their first time seeing a beastkin in real life.

"Are your ears and tail real?" Scarlett stared at his ear, tempted to touch it.

He nods and smiles.

"What would you like to order?" He asked.

They quickly ordered their food and beverages while the little boy took down the order and walked away.

"Oh my God. He's so cute." Scarlett whispered.

"Yeah... I want to adopt him." Caroline said, not stuttering anymore.

While fangirling, Ai interrupted Scarlett.

"Remember your mission, Mina." Ai said.

"Oh! Right, thanks for the reminder!"

"So, Caroline. What do you like to do as a hobby?" Scarlett asked.

"Erm... I enjoy embroidery." She answered.

"Oh! Could you embroid a handkerchief for me? I would love it!" Scarlett holds Caroline's hands and pleads her with puppy eyes.

"But I'm not that good! You might not like it..." Caroline stares at Scarlett through her long fringe.

"I'll love it no matter what since it's from my sister in law!" Scarlett gave a cheeky grin as Caroline blush red.

"Alright... I'll sew one for you," She gave a shy smile.

"... Scarlet." Caroline continues.

"Yeah? What's up?" Scarlett tilts her head, trying to look through her fringe curtain.

"Would you... be my friend?" Caroline's voice was timid and trembling.

Caroline finally got up her courage to ask Scarlett to befriend her but she was worried about being rejected. She squeezes her eyes tightly, hoping for a positive response.

"Yeah! You're my friend and my future sister in law!" Scarlett gave a wide smile when she saw Caroline smiles dazzlingly.

"Caroline, what did you add in the tea that makes Seth sleep?" Scarlett's direct words made Adeline smack her head.

"What? Oh... I just added milk in the tea. Since Seth has been working hard and has not been sleeping enough, I made warm milk tea for him whenever he looks stressed out and tired." Caroline smiles, not knowing that Seth misunderstood her.

"Then, erm... Why do you always avoid Seth's eye contact?" Scarlett asked again.

"Oh.. I-I'm just bad at making eye contact with him. I just... feel like my heart will pump out of my mouth if I made eye contact with him." Caroline explained, her face and ears turn red.

Scarlett facepalmed. Her innocent intentions made Seth thinks otherwise.

"She has the heart of gold, Ai. Is Seth like... dumb?"

"Well. I would misunderstand Caroline as well if I'm Seth. She never talks and she did things behind his back." Ai logically explained to Scarlett.

Scarlett couldn't disagree with Ai and sighed.

This mission is harder than she could've ever imagined.
