Manifestation of Magic

After yesterday's event, our Magic I class(an abbreviation for The Fundamentals of Magic class) was extremely lively as we could now finally get into the spells. And as you would expect, Sam started receiving a bunch of attention when it became known that he had an affinity with all elements.

A large majority of students at this point should be at, or near the level of a Beginner Mage Apprentice so it was perfectly fine for students to start learning basic level 1 spells.

Professor Lapis walked to the lectern and started the lesson. To be completely honest, I already knew everything in the curriculum besides spells since the book I bought from the system had taught me a lot.

"Good morning everyone! Today, we will be learning about the level 1 spells and the fundamentals behind it. This should be rather simple but keep in mind, not many people can do it for the first time so no need to be disappointing." She said that but I was sure that Sam, being the freaky genius he was, was capable of doing almost anything if he set his mind to it.

"Okay first off, don't take magic for granted. The level 1 spells are considered the easiest and weakest of all the spells. Why is this the case? If I were to input my thoughts on it, it would be that level 1 spells were not actually spells. The actual spell casting and magical incantations start at level 2 and beyond."

"Despite this, the mastery of level 1 spells are extremely important for any aspiring magician. Does anyone know why?" When she raised the question, only a couple hands could be seen in the air.

"Mr. Lancaster."

The student stood up and responded. "Level 1 spells set the foundation for all the other spells so without it, the true prowess of the spells beyond level 1 would be extremely limited. An example: If ones foundations were trained to a certain degree, they could easily cast a level 2 spell to vanquish a level 3 spell created by someone with weaker foundations. It's also because of this reason why many great wizards put great importance on mastering the basics instead of rushing through."

"My thoughts exactly, Mr. Lancaster summed it up for the most part. But there was one important thing that he missed. What exactly does mastering level 1 spells mean? The word mastering should not be taken lightly. It means to be capable of being flexible and in control at all times, not just pure power. Without control to steer the wheel, no matter how strong your magic is, it will only backfire and go out of control. Recall what we learned about magic from our last unit. The outcome magic brings is heavily reliant on the caster. If the caster has tranquil thoughts, he will be able to control it easier; he may even be able to turn fire into water with sufficient patience and practice. On the opposite hand, the negativity that clouds the mind when you are enraged will make your magic even stronger than normal, but you won't be able to control it at all. This is what happens when a magician goes on a rampage but it is a rare occurrence." She finally stopped talking and took a sip of water.

The only reason why my mind wasn't wandering off in this lesson was because I actually wanted to know how to cast magic. But this old women just wouldn't stop rambling. If there were books on level 1 spells, I would have read them already. It's just that the library had everything but level 1 spells since they were an extremely basic thing.

...

After around half an hour, she finally got to the part about casting the spell.

"It's really simple, all you need to do is channel your mana to your hands like we learned last month. Then, Imagine the mana turning into any element, like water, or whatever affinity you have, upon leaving the body."

I looked around the class and it seems that only about 3 people managed to do it on the first try. Sam was obviously included.

On his hand was a floating brown mist that looked to be made of sh*t... Er, I think this may be Earth manifestation.

I put my hands out and pretended to do it so that others wouldn't suspect me of being a genius as well. After all, it would be quite a problem if the system suddenly took away all my hard-earned points. I only needed 600 more to buy the Draconic Footwork technique.

With my "Overdrive", I was certain that I could easily manifest a small fire.

Just to clarify, there were only eight level 1 spells and they all relate to the eight elements.

Level 1 spells were basically just turning mana into magic with the creative power of "imagination".

If imagination was so overpowered... I couldn't even begin to think about how broken the power of friendship in this world would be.

The four main elements and two sub elements were as you would expect. While light and darkness were a bit special.

Earth manifestation created poo— I mean earth essence.

Wind manifestation was literally a raseng—cough* cough*

Wind manifestation created a small whirling blue orb of wind.

Water manifestation created a ball of aqua water. It wasn't exactly useless(is aqua trash? Debate in the comments) but I guess you could drink it?

Fire manifestation created the oh so amazing red flame.

Lightning manifestation created something like a snow globe, except the clouds pour lighting instead of snow.

Ice manifestation created a solid ball of ice.

Light manifestation created a light orb that shined like a torch.

Darkness manifestation created a ball of nothingness? Well, it was just an orb that was completely devoid of light so I guess a shadow ball.

That pretty much sums it all up.

What I planned to do from now on was train my Fire manifestation to the extreme. I heard that a simple Fire manifestation from an 8th Circle Wizard created a fire equal to the size of meteor.

Sorry for the late update. Been a bit occupied by work lately(I swear I'm not slackin'). Anyway, expect updates from 6-8 pm est.
