Chapter 15
"'Eclipse' A hundred years ago, a large earthquake shook the world as monsters , dungeons, and castles began appearing in all corners of the world.
The very existence of them lurking within us caused chaos and disorder in our once peaceful world. It became a living hell. Monsters devoured humans while Dungeons and Castles continuously spawned those Monsters.
Ordinary weapons, science and even technology are no match for them. The law that is known to mankind is now useless as it devolved and later turned into the law of the jungle. Chaos continued to reign until a group of Heroes suddenly emerged from nowhere.
With extraordinary power and abilities that surpassed of that to humans, they fought those monsters. Just as how fast the world was destroyed it was also how fast they reconstructed it. Using the Gifts given by the heaven, they brought miracles to the world. Humans became Heroes as scientists researched them and thus created magic science and magic engineering.
Monsters, Dungeons, and Castles are all classified as target to be obliterated.
Castles require a lot of Heroes and long periods of time to be subdued while Dungeons, depending on the difficulty, can be subdued by only one person or one team.
However Castles give better rewards than dungeons. It contains valuable treasures such as the sword which is famously know as
the 'Lightbringer'."
Our morning class subject was 'History'. It tackles about post-eclipse in which I already know so it gets a little boring for me. Also because of my Gift, whenever I looked at something, a window will appear and the information is written about it.
"Haysss."
On the other hand, Angela was scratching her head while taking down notes. Seeing my character do this, I unintentionally let out a giggle.
Angela hated studying but when it comes to combat class, she can take the number one spot of female cadets but because of written exams she can never be top one. So she had no choice but to give it up to Meredith Cortez.
Angela heard my giggle as I was just behind her glared and raised her eyebrows at me. She sure have a keen sense. I pretended to look in front and listened to the professor while pretending to write down notes.
The bell rang at 10:30.
"Make sure that you listened and took down notes today. I don't want someone to cry on the day of the exam."
Angela and the others started complaining as soon as the professor left. However they immediately forgot about it as they know what the next class is.
Combat Training.
All of them were excited but me? Hah! I'm scared.
"Sir Jude said we're meeting at the novice field in 15 minutes! Change in your training uniform!"
A tall man with an oval face and small gentle eyes yelled loudly at the classroom. It was Christian George, an avid fan of Cypher. Sir Jude knows that Cypher and Edge are rivals so he chose Christine to be class president instead.

After 15 minutes, we are all gathered here at the novice field. With all the 200 students gathered here, it seemed overcrowded. The students have someone to chat to while containing their excitement and nervousness. I was the only one who doesn't have any friends or to chat with.
I was singing 'I'm so lonely' in my mind when Sir Jude showed up.
"I'm sure all of you know what this class is all about. Let's skip to the explanation part and announce the teams. Each team will consist of four members. The teams that I will be announcing are permanent until after the midterms."
A team usually consists of five members. Two fighters (close ranged and the other a fighter who can do long ranged attacks), marksman (long ranged attacker), support (support the team while defending them at the same time in defeating the opponent), and a mage.
My role is a bit confusing since my main weapon is a dagger. I can do close ranged fighting and I can also use my weapon for ranged attacks. It's either I'm a marksman or a close ranged fighter.
Although I was lacking to be a marksman since daggers have shorter range than other long ranged weapons and daggers were weaker than other melee weapons.
'Please put me in Marksman... I haven't trained my body yet to become a close ranged fighter. PLEASEEE.'
As if my prayers were answered, I was put in Marksman category but I'm embarrassed of my three-number rank.
A big holographic screen floated above the field. It showed there our rank and category of where we should be. I immediately looked for my name.
'Swordsman... Melee... Fighter... Ah, there it is.'
