14 13. My Feelings

"Look Maria, it's a very dangerous mission. And you are frankly, still a child." Kirei said to her as the two of them are in his room right now.

"I still want to accompany you in this mission." Maria said to him with the same face.

"I don't think it is a good decision Maria. You might get killed in this and I might not be able to protect you." Kirei said to her in a calm tone.

"If you die then I will lose my reason to exist. If you were to die then I will kill myself." Maria said to him in the same tone.

"Maria. Try to understand what I'm saying." Kirei said to her as he looked at her.

"I understand what you are telling me Kirei-san, but I do not wish to be away from you ever. I am here because you saved me from the battlefield and I continue to live because you spared me. As far as I am concerned, my life already belongs to you." Maria said to him not backing down.

Kirei looked at her eyes and she looked back without backing done. After looking at her for a few moments he sighed and closed his eyes before he shook his head.

"Alright fine. I have a feeling that you will follow me even if I were to leave you here." Kirei said exasperated as he looked at her.

"I will not become a hindrance to you." Maria said to him firmly.

'And that's what worries me. You are willing to do anything for me. And here I am trying to get you to discover your own sense of self.' Kirei thought to himself as he looked at the girl.

He decided that having her beside him was much more safer for her than leaving her to her own devices and not knowing what she is doing. So he got the permission from the Cardinal and then prepared to go to Romania.

From the information he got from the notes in the Magus' house, the grail war is supposed to be somewhere near Romania so he decided to go there. And so the two of them found themselves taking the plane to Romania.

Maria was a bit nervous about it as she held onto his hand as they flew. Kirei didn't mind it as he comforted her, something which she appreciated. When night fell she climbed onto him and went to sleep on his lap as he accomodated her.

Soon they reached Romania and they disembarked from the plane. They went to place owned by the Church where they got their equipment from. Kirei collected them which includes holy items, a vehicle, some guns, and other things.

After getting them they went to the house where they would be living for sometime.

"Isn't this place where the Yggdmillenia clan lives?" Maria asked him curiously.

"Yes but their power isn't that great compared to the Church. No matter how powerful they are, they can't risk making an enemy of the Church as they know that the other Magus' won't support them. Not to mention, I had killed their associates in a mission which also meant that they won't have as much power as before." Kirei said to her with a small smile.

"I see." Maria said to him with a nod.

"In any case, no one actually knows my face in the Magus' world. Since any Magus that did see my face are all dead. The Church also doesn't keep photograph's of me to protect me so they won't be of help there as well." Kirei said to her calmly as he made arrays of magic circles around the house.

"So they won't recognise you?" Maria asked him curiously.

"I'm not completely sure. At the very least the shouldn't be able to recognise me very easily. In any case, I will put a protective charm around the house to make sure that it will be safe. Stay in the living room." Kirei said to her as she nodded to him.

Kirei walked away as he worked around the house as Maria kept her eyes on him. She didn't let her eyes leave his figure for even a second. She took in all of his form as he worked in the house.

'Whatever you say to me. I am yours Kirei-san. I would not be alive and free if you hadn't saved me. For me, the sole reason for my existence is you. So I will always follow you no matter what. Until the day I die, I will be with you.' Maria thought to herself as she looked at him with a rare emotion of love in her eyes.
