1 The MC is Hopeless...

The surroundings look unbelievably hazy, 'he' felt absent-minded and clumsy.

'He' vaguely saw a figure in front of him, a man dressed as a butler holding a "black object" with a small hole that is pointing to 'him'.

'He' stared on it distractedly as 'his' eyes were dim.

"I will take revenge against those mad scientists, everything will proceed as planned."

A manly, matured voice reached 'his' ears, but 'he' doesn't seem to react, much less respond. 'His' eyes still fixated on the "black object" in front of 'him'.

"Young master, come back to us sooner."

'He' still didn't respond. 'His' eyes look blank and his posture remained unchanged.

The hole from the "black object" suddenly lit and made a loud sound. Then it's hole started to look smoky.

'He' suddenly felt something, 'he' placed his hand below his chest and felt a fluid running over 'him'.

'He' fell from the ground and dropped on the wooden floor. Weirdly, there are no struggles nor any reaction from 'him.'

The man fixed his gaze on 'him' for more than a second before looking away, throwing the "black object" to the ground and slowly left.

'He' then looked closely on the running fluid and determined the fluid's color is red.

'His' thoughts wandered as if recollecting something.

'Ahh.. it was a gunshot.' 'He' finally found out that 'he' was shot.

'...'

'... What was I doing again?' Something feels missing in 'his' mind.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

The boy hurriedly opened his eyes and almost jumped out of bed as he breathed heavily.

His body shook and stayed in place for some seconds.

Then his thoughts recovered and finally understood what was happening.

"Ahhh, it was just a nightmare." the boy sighed.

He had no clue why he would dream the same scene every week. An unfamiliar room, unusual outfit, and the weirdness of the dream.

He felt that it was his very important memory, but he can't point out anything.

Not thinking about it anymore, the boy gazed on the window and saw that it was morning. He stretched his arms as he got out of the bed.

He suddenly thought about something and enthusiastically looked over from the side of his bed.

He turned his attention to his pendulum clock. Just looking at it—the swinging weight and the time accurately pointed out by the clock being 7:30 a.m, made his eyes lit in wonder.

"Woww, it's the rumored most accurate clock of mankind! It tells you the precise time without errors, not to mention just looking at the swinging pendulum is straight-up satisfying!"

The boy is fangirling with his pendulum clock. It was a gift given by his father's friend to the family yesterday. He came from Hilari City, of the Virtualis Continent. A bustling city with a fairly large population.

Because they placed it in his room. It only made him more excited that he almost skipped his sleep schedule. Fortunately, his parents made him calm down and convinced him to sleep.

He once expressed his thoughts to go to Hilary city, but his parents stopped him. They reasoned that going outside the border is very dangerous. Of course, the boy didn't believe it and thought they were telling excuses, making him pout in disappointment.

While the boy is still staring at the pendulum in amazement, never turning his eyes off from it. A sound interrupted his own ASMR, however.

"Derrick, your friend is waiting for you downstairs, why are you still staring at the clock?" A feminine voice with a hint of helplessness sounded out. It was his mother, Eleanor Vogel.

Her mother, Eleanor, is exceptionally pretty. She has brown hair with long eyelashes. She also has a clean, smooth face and faintly pink lips. The red dress also complements her body. Although her dress doesn't seem to be top-notched, it is fairly expensive and clean with no stains.

"Mom, I still want to watch the clock, it sounds nice, and it looks very satisfying!" Derrick expressed his disapproval and didn't even turn around to check but fixedly gazed the swinging motion of the pendulum clock.

"The clock is not going to run anywhere, Let's go downstairs and meet Luna. She's already waiting in our lobby for a couple minutes. Now go!" His mother, Eleanor, was out of options so she forced him to go downstairs.

"Mmm... Fine." Derrick reluctantly shifted his gaze from the clock and showed sadness. His mother was speechless at his actions, though. She suddenly thought her son is getting more and more spoiled.

After Derrick left, Eleanor sighed as she walked on the bed and sat on it. She turned her eyes over to the pendulum clock.

Thinking about something, her eyes gradually reddened with worry. She habitually scratched her nails gently. "Hubby..."

She stared at the clock for a while.

As soon as Derrick went downstairs, what greeted his eyes is a black-haired girl with clean attire. Her expression looks very serious as she covered her hand, but not too tight, just loosely. Her legs were swaying back and forth with rhythm.

"Luna!"

Her name is Luna, Derrick's childhood friend. She frequently plays with Derrick all the time when her parents would visit Derrick's home.

She is 9 years old, about 3 months younger than Derrick.

Hearing her name, Luna turned around and saw Derrick. Her eyes lit up as she excitedly greeted.

"Derrick, look what I've caught!"

Luna gleefully opened her hands. A lively blue butterfly flew out from her hands.

Derrick was surprised and rejoiced. "You caught a butterfly? Wow!"

Somehow, he imagined catching a colorful butterfly and making them fly to the sky after freeing them.

He suddenly wanted to catch a butterfly too.

"Awesome right?" Luna saw his astounded expression and giggled.

"Very awesome, I wanna try catching one too! Where did you find it?" Derrick finally turned his face and ran in front of Luna and appealed.

He is exaggeratedly exhilarated, making him look rather comedic.

"Don't be impatient, we are going to the hills to catch butterflies today." Luna didn't know how to answer and hurriedly told him the location to make him stop looking stupid.

"Sure thing, let's go now." Derrick didn't notice his silly attitude as he took an insect net from his left hand and pulled the arms of Luna with his right hand as he left the house.

Luna was pitifully dragged and also left with him.

Looking at the "dramatic" scene, Eleanor sighed. She just witnessed the most amusing scene in her life.

She chuckled and helplessly muttered. "Derrick is really hopeless."

She then returned to her room upstairs.

The duo ran fast as they approached the hill.

"Derrick, let go of your hand. I'm tired and my arm is sore."

Luna kept repeating the same sentence thrice until she finally got a response on Derrick.

"Whaaa—, I'm very sorry!" Derrick looked at the reddish spot from her arm and hurriedly let go of his hand.

He also dropped the insect net from his other arm. He directly apologized and was nervous that Luna would get mad at him.

"It's okay... just let me... rest." Luna mildly panted as she spoke with pauses. She rested on the grass at the top of the hill.

They are finally on the hill. It took them roughly less than a minute to get here.

The hill is near Derrick's home, this area is relatively safe so kids like Derrick and Luna can play around here.

Seeing Luna not mad and angry at him didn't make his guilt disappear. He was looking for ways to console Luna before he saw something colorful flying around from his view.

That guilt from his faults instantly disappeared and was quickly replaced into happiness and thrill. It was all because of the colorful butterflies.

"Luna, Luna!" Derrick expressed his thrill and called Luna twice. "There are butterflies!"

That was his childish attempt to comfort Luna, but for this same reason, that it was childish. It worked for her.

She managed to smile happily and remarked. "See? Butterflies like to fly in this spot. All the credits belong to me because I discovered this land first!"

Kids easily forget grudges, especially when they have the opportunity to impress their playmates.

Derrick delightedly picked up the insect net that was dropped by him earlier and shouted. "I'm going to catch the butterflies. Just wait!"

"Okay sure, I'll just rest for a bit first." Luna made her body lying on the grass.

The green grass made her body feel comfortable as she lazily stayed in place and rested.
