Chapter 29 The Girl’s New Plans

As Felix floated on top of a tube in his fox form he yawned while watching Daka, Vex, and Silkie play in the water as Lilac and the girl sat on the beach under an umbrella together. Felix continued to watch them all as he stretched and thought "Being so far away from my tree… is kinda worrying… but it should be fine for a while." Felix glanced at Lilac and the girl as he thought "I wonder why they've just been sitting there." Felix shook the leaf off of his head and bit it as he leaped into the water and swam over to where Lilac and the girl were sitting as he thought "I bet I could listen in without being found out." As Felix reached the land he got a distance away and then snuck behind them as he happily thought "This is way more fun than sitting on that floaty thing." Once Felix was behind them he crouched down and dropped the leaf from his mouth as he heard Lilac ask "Can you really watch him whenever?" The girl nodded as she said, "Of course I can." Lilac stared at her as she excitedly said "If I had an ability like that I'd be using it constantly!" The girl glanced slightly behind herself as she smiled and said "Speaking of that ability… what do you think of Felix."

Felix flinched as he thought "She knew this whole time? If Lilac finds out I'm listening to this she'll kill me." As Felix tried to stand up he nervously thought "M-my body… it's not moving… she must've done something to prevent me from running away." Lilac blushed as she nervously said "W-well… I… I like that he isn't easily killed." The girl smiled as she cheekily said "So would you say… you love him?" Felix stared intently at them both as he thought "Love? Is she trying to help me get a wife so I don't make my dead wife angry?" Lilac blushed and covered her own face as tried to silently say "I… I do… I do like him… I already told him once… but I don't think he actually would've acted like that." The girl smiled as she said, "I'm sure he would… and I'm sure he'd say he loves you back if you said it to him first." Lilac glanced at her still blushing as she said "B-but… what if he misunderstands it somehow." The girl stared at her for a moment and then cheekily smiled as she said "How about I make this simpler… if none of you will make a move on him… then I will… after all… I have grown rather fond of his energy in this short span of feeling it."

The girl stood up and began to walk towards the water as she glanced and stared directly at Felix and said "So then… you can either make your move… or wait until someone else does." Lilac stared at her as she said "B-but… wh-" as she was cut off the girl said, "There are no buts… he is currently looking for a wife… whoever makes a move first shall claim him." As the girl turned back around and continued to walk towards the water Felix was able to move again as he thought "Make a move? Why was she staring directly at me as she said that?" Felix glanced at Lilac while picking up his leaf as he ran off while thinking "I better get out of here before she notices me." Once Felix was a good distance away he transformed back into a human wearing swim trunks as he took the leaf out of his mouth and placed it on his head as he said "If I were smarter this would probably be easier to follow." Felix glanced at the girl and seen her floating in the water with Vex, Daka, and Silkie as he mumbled "Is she… telling them the same thing?" Felix thought for a moment as he said "Could she be trying to help me get a wife?"

Felix sighed as he said, "I really don't think any of them think of me like that though." Felix stared at them for another moment and then crouched down to the ground as he said "I guess I can think about it while I play in the sand." As Felix began to build a sandcastle all of the girls gathered behind and stood there silently. As Felix continued to make a sandcastle the girl said "Ahem!" Felix flinched as he slowly looked behind himself and thought "She must want something." Felix seen them all standing there as he nervously asked "D-do you need something?" The girl smugly smiled as she said "I had a little talk with all of them… and it seems they're all interested in you." Felix stared at her for a moment and then said "Come again?" The girl pointed at him as she shouted "I said, all of these girls, are interested in marrying you!" Felix sat there for another moment before asking "Is this some joke?" The girl glared at him as she said "How can someone as stupid as you exist." The girl began to walk towards him as she said "Listen for a moment, because everything I'm about to say is one hundred percent the truth… everyone here, likes you, and not in the as a friend way."

Felix continued to sit there as he asked "So… is it not a joke?" The girl glanced at the others who were all blushing and acting flustered as she said "They all of their own reason for liking or wanting you… but they wouldn't mind marrying you nonetheless." Silkie stared at her unphased by what the girl said as she asked "But didn't you say you were interested in him too?" The girl glanced at Silkie as she said "Exactly, that's why I think it would be best if we all competed for him." Felix sat there silently as thought "But… I was just gonna push marriage aside for a while… how do you even get married these days?" The girl pointed at Felix as she said "And I've decided that to make this competition fair that I'd let you choose the competition!" Felix stared at her as he said "B-but… what kind of competition?" The girl shrugged as she said, "I don't know… choose whatever." Felix sat there for a moment as he thought and then said "What about… a sandcastle competition?" The girl thought for a moment as she said "None of us have an advantage or disadvantage in something like that… I suppose it will work."

As the five of them began to build sandcastles Felix stared at them as he mumbled "I wish I knew what they were thinking." Felix sighed as he said, "But unfortunately I can't read minds like she can." Felix glanced up at the sun as he mumbled "Deciding on a wife… with a competition?" Felix sighed as he mumbled, "Deciding something like that with some competition is ridiculous." Felix watched them all continue to build sandcastles as he thought "I wonder who will build the best one though." After a short while, they all finished building their sandcastles. As the girl glanced at Felix she said "You shall be the judge of the competition." Felix stared at them all for a moment as he said "B-but… not a single one of these looks anything like castle… or like it has walls." Felix crouched down to a pile of sand that had a leaf flag poking out of it as he asked "Who made this one?" The girl turned away as she said "It wouldn't be much of a competition if you knew and picked using favoritism." Felix stared at all of the slightly different piles of sand for a while before saying "I don't think… any of you won."

The girl glared at him as she asked "What kind of answer is that?" Felix glanced at her as he said "I… can't tell them apart… they just look like piles of sand with shells and leaf flags." The girl stared at the piles of sand as she said "Yes but you should still choose one so we have a winner." Felix stared at them for a while as he said "I think we should cancel this competition." The girl sighed as she said "Your gonna cancel it? And here I thought I was gonna win." Silkie stared at him as she excitedly said "On the contrary, you built a beautiful sandcastle." Silkie walked over to his sandcastle and stood beside it as she said "It's even surrounded by a moat and wall." Felix stared at his sandcastle for a moment as he said "If any of you would've even made a single structure you probably would've won." Silkie smiled as she said, "Well none of us won this competition so maybe we should decide on a different competition." The girl glanced over at the setting sun as she said "Unfortunately we don't have time… so looks like we'll be cutting this short and I'll be sending you all back."
