Chapter 22 Silkie’s Past

Felix continued to stare at her as he nervously said "Sorry to pry so much… but would you mind explaining it a little bit more." Silkie stared at him with a sad look as she said "I suppose I should tell you if it'll make you feel safer around me." Silkie sat down on the floor as she patted in front of herself and said "Take a seat… I'll explain to you what led me to killing her." Felix hesitated for a moment and then walked over to her as he nervously sat down and said "O-okay." Silkie stared at him with a serious look as she said "The kitsune I knew was once playful and carefree… she enjoyed spending time with humans and lived in this apartment as well, I believe she lived in the same room as you." Felix sat there as he thought "That kinda sounds like bad news for me… I really don't wanna follow in her footsteps." Silkie smiled a little as she said "She was a very kind person… she didn't have much and made the most of everything." Silkie stared at Felix as she said "She looked somewhat like you, but her fur and hair were a much different color than yours."

Silkie thought for a moment as she said "She had purple fur and hair, she was able to use foxfire, and traverse through the different realms, she was also able to speak many different languages." Silkie's face seemed a lot sadder as she said "But unfortunately after living in the human world she made some human friends and revealed herself to them… and after doing so the humans she knew told other humans… and eventually people came to kill her." Silkie glanced away as she said, "She settled it peacefully for a while… but after a while… she snapped… and stopped trusting any people… she would kill whoever came near her… even the yokai who tried to sway her to stop." Silkie glanced back at him and grinned as she said "Although… it did sort of make me happy that she still trusted me more so than anyone else she knew." Silkie sighed as she said "But unfortunately… I knew that she was hurting herself just as much as she was hurting those other people… so… I confronted her about it." Felix stared at her with a curious look as he thought "This must be the part where they fought to the death."

Silkie smiled as she said, "Thankfully she was aware of the fact that she harmed many and decided to listen to me… eventually after trying to decide on a way for her to repent after killing all of those people… she decided that her death would be the only way to repent after killing so many." Silkie glanced down towards the ground as she sadly said "I tried talking her out of it… but unfortunately she decided on that… and also decided that as her only trustable friend… that I should be the one to kill her." Felix sat there in silence for a moment and then asked "So… you killed her?" Silkie nodded as she sadly said "Yes… I was also the only one to attend her burial since no one else could know that she was a kitsune." Felix stared at her for a moment and seen that she was sad as he mumbled "I've been avoiding her all this time… and now I find out that she didn't even wanna kill that yokai." Silkie smiled as she said, "Shortly after though Vex moved in and then Lilac, and eventually although it took a while you moved in." Felix stared at her with pity as he thought "W-what should I do? I forced her to talk about this… surely I have to do something."

Felix stared at her for a moment and then closed his eyes as he leaned towards her and mumbled "Please let my instincts be wrong." As Felix hugged her he nervously said "I-I'm not really sure about what to say here… but I'm sure if it's anything like that movie Daka showed me… I'm probably supposed to say something like it's okay." Silkie froze for a moment and then glanced at him as she said "You don't have to force yourself, I can feel you shaking." Felix continued to hold onto her as he nervously said "I would if I could… b-but I'm not able to move." Silkie smiled as she hugged him back and said "I guess I'll just have to hug you back until your able to let go." As Silkie held onto him she grinned and said "Thank you for listening and trying to comfort me… but I don't need consoling from you." Felix glanced at her as he nervously said "A-alright… also I think I'm able to let go now." As Felix pulled his arms off of her he smiled awkwardly and said "Y-you can let go of me."

Silkie hugged him tighter as she said "Just a while longer please." Felix's body froze up once again as he nervously said "O-of course… a-as long as you need." As Silkie let go of him Felix quickly backed up to the wall and said "I'm sorry… my instincts just won't let me relax around you." Silkie smiled as she said, "I know… but I'm hoping after your around me enough your instincts won't see me as a threat." Silkie smiled as she said, "Now then why don't we discuss our date." Felix stayed against the wall as he said "Date? Like the fruit?" Silkie thought for a moment as she said "No not like the fruit… it's a thing that two people do together… usually male and female." Felix stared at her in confusion as he said "Two people who are usually male and female who are together?" Felix stared at her for a moment and then said "Like Vex and Daka?" Silkie stared at him for a moment as she said "No Vex stays with Daka because Daka is afraid of being left alone." Felix stared at her and began to think as he said "But if it's two people… are me and you a date?" Silkie stared at him and shook her head as she said "We can't be a date, a date is what those two people go out on."

Silkie thought for a moment and said "Like when two people go out and eat food, or watch a movie at a theater, something like that." Felix thought about the movie Daka, him, and Vex watched as he said "Oh, that's what they were doing in that movie." Silkie stared at him as she asked "What did they do?" Felix stared at her and said, "They went to a cafe together and ate while talking." Silkie smiled as she heard him say this and said "A cafe? That might be a good idea." Silkie stared at his tail as she asked "Are you able to hide your fox spirit parts completely yet?" Felix thought for a moment and then shrugged as he said "I don't know… I haven't tried recently." Felix glanced at his tail as he said "I guess I can give it a shot." As his tail began to shrink into nothing Silkie excitedly said "You must've finally gained enough power to hide your fox parts." Silkie stared at his head as she said "Although… you might still need to hide those ears." Felix felt his ears as he embarrassingly said "Actually I was trying to hide these too… but it doesn't look like it worked."

Silkie stared at his ears as she said "I'm sure you'll be able to hide them soon… but until then you should probably continue to wear a hat when you go out in public." Felix stood up as he said, "My tail still feels like it's there." As Felix began to swat at his nonexistent tail Silkie stood up and excitedly said "Just wait here a moment… I'm pretty sure I have some clothes you can have that will fit you now that your tail won't get in the way." As Silkie left and came back carrying a pile of clothes she excitedly said "I usually throw these clothes away after I'm done using them as a reference for the clothes I make, but I suppose you using them is a lot better than tossing them out." Silkie dropped the clothes onto the ground and then grabbed a black t-shirt and pair of pants from the pile as she excitedly said "Try this on!" Felix took the clothes and stared at them for a moment as he said "More uncomfortable clothes?" Silkie smiled as she excitedly said, "Actually these clothes are made for comfort, try them on, I bet you'll like them!" As Felix put the clothes on he said "O-okay."

Once the clothes were on Silkie took a picture on her phone and said "Those clothes look great on you." Felix stood there looking at the clothes he was in as he mumbled "These clothes don't feel as odd as the other ones." Silkie smiled as she excitedly asked, "Is it comfortable enough to wear tomorrow on our date?" Felix glanced at her as said, "I-I suppose they are." Silkie showed him the picture she took of him as she said "And even if you don't wear them tomorrow I have this picture to remember you wearing the clothes I brought you." Felix stared at the picture as he said "O-okay… I-I'll wear the clothes… so can you get rid of that." Silkie shook her head as she said "Nope… this is gonna be my new home screen so I see it every day."
