Chapter 18 Felix Learns Of The Bathtub

While Felix slept in his bed someone knocked on his door. As Felix opened his eyes he mumbled "It's already time to wake up?" As Felix sat up he noticed the blanket and said "Strange… I don't remember having one of these." Felix left it on the bed as he heard the knocking while saying "Just hold on a minute." As Felix opened the door he yawned and said "Good morning… what do you need?" As he said this Silkie smiled and said "I just figured I'd stop by to inform you of a… game we've all decided to play." Felix glanced past her and seen that it was still dark out as he nervously said "W-what kind of game?" Silkie grinned as she said, "It's just a simple game… to see… who will be able to… devour you first." Felix froze as he thought "T-They're all in it… I'm actually gonna die tonight." Silkie began to walk away as she said "We'll see how long you can last before one of us wins." Once she was gone Felix quickly closed the door and nervously said "All? Including Daka and Vex? B-but… but I didn't even do anything to provoke them." Felix began to hide under the blanket as he said "That settles it… I'm not leaving this apartment."

As Felix hid beneath the blanket he felt a presence behind himself. Felix flinched as he asked, "D-did I forget to lock the door?" Felix glanced behind himself and seen Vex hovering above him as he backed away quickly and asked "W-what brings you here?" Vex blushed as she said "W-well… I heard from Silkie… that you still don't know how to use a bathtub." Felix backed all the way up to the wall as he said "O-oh did she now… well I don't need to know how to use one so it's not too important." Vex floated closer and sniffed him as she said "Although… your smell hasn't changed." Felix moved towards his birth tree as he said "W-well then I guess it's not important right?" Vex floated over towards the bathroom door as she blushed while saying "I-I'll… teach you." Felix waved his hand while saying "N-no need… really I'm fine." Felix continued to stay against the wall as he thought "Smelling me… then leading me into a smaller room… she must plan to block off my escapes while eating me." Vex stared at him for a moment and sadly said "B-but I wanted to help you." Felix froze and then slowly lowered his hand as he mumbled "Refusing her offer… is making me feel guilty for some reason."

Felix stood up and began to walk towards her as he said "O-okay… but only if you promise not to eat me." Vex flinched as she said "E-eat you?" Felix stared at her with a serious look as he said "Come on… you have to promise not to eat me." Vex blushed as she whispered "I-I won't… I won't eat you." Felix sighed as he said, "I suppose a promise is better than nothing." As they entered the bathroom Vex pointed to the bathtub and nervously said "T-take… take off… y-your… your… clo-" before she could finish Felix's clothes disappeared as he said, "Take off my clothes right?" Vex covered her eyes as she quietly asked "A-aren't you… embarrassed?" Felix began to stretch as he said "Not really… I've been walking around naked technically." Felix thought for a moment as he said "The closest thing to me being dressed was when Silkie gave me that trench coat and hat." Vex turned away while still covering her eyes as she whispered "M-maybe your fox form will work better for now." As Felix turned into a fox Vex glanced at him and let out a sigh of relief while saying "T-that's better… thank you." Vex picked him up and set him in the bathtub as she said "J-just sit there for a moment." As Vex pulled out a book from her pocket she stared at it for a moment and thought "S-so this book… teaches people how to grow closer."

As Vex turned the water on she began to get undressed and get into the tub with him as she said "I-I'll be here… to help you… so don't mind me." Felix began to float in the water as he thought "Is this the pinnacle of technology?" Felix stared at Vex's face as he thought "This kind of technology was here the whole time and they're just now telling me about it?" Vex began to blush as she asked "W-why are you staring at me like that?" Felix glanced away as he thought "Maybe I'll be able to ask Vex about this other technology too." As Felix changed into his human form he sat at the opposite end of the bathtub and smiled as he said "You seem pretty knowledgeable, I never would've even guessed what this thing was for." Vex's face became bright red as she whispered "N-not really… t-this is pretty common knowledge… even a child would know how to use it." As Felix sat there Vex mumbled, "D-don't go invisible… t-this is exactly what you wanted to happen." Felix stared at her for a moment as he said "You and Lilac have been acting strange… did I… do something to bother you?" Vex began to panic as she nervously said "N-no… i-it… it's just that… this is embarrassing." Felix tilted his head as he said "I'm not really sure what you mean… but I guess I'll just stay out of it and hope they aren't planning to kill me."

Vex stared at him as she nervously asked "W-what are you talking about?" Felix leaned over the side of the bathtub as he said "Well… think about it… usually Lilac is more… fierce… but after coming home from that supermarket she's much more… timid?" Felix sighed as he said, "It's kinda… odd." Vex thought for a moment as she asked "H-have you tried… talking to her about it?" Felix thought for a moment as he said "No… I haven't." As Felix got out of the bathtub Vex covered her eyes and her face became even redder as she whispered"P-please… w-warn me before you do that." Felix glanced at her as his clothes reappear and said "Warn you about what?" Vex peeked out from between her fingers as she said "M-maybe I should talk to her for you instead." Felix glanced at her as he asked "Why's that?" Vex glanced away as she nervously said "W-well… it might be weird if you talked to her right now." Felix tilted his head in confusion as he asked "What do you mean weird?" Vex sank into the water as she said "Y-you know… that thing… at the park." Felix thought for a moment as he said "Oh that." Vex stared at him as she asked "Can I… ask you something important?" Felix stared at her for a moment and said "Sure." Vex peeked over the side of the bathtub while hiding most of herself as she asked "D-did… you mean… everything you said to her."

Felix thought for a moment as he said "They weren't my words… but I guess… they weren't too far off." Vex lowered herself as she sadly asked "Then… does that mean… you're… in love with her?" Felix thought for another moment as he said "Actually I've been wondering that myself lately… but… I think it's more like… a friend you don't wanna lose." Felix nodded as he said, "Yeah that sounds about right." Vex peeked out of the bathtub as she happily said "Then… you're not head over heels for her?" Felix thought for a moment as he said "Head… over heels?" As Vex hopped out of the bathtub and began to walk towards the door she excitedly said "I-it's an expression." Felix stared at her for a moment as he asked "Are you gonna go without your clothes?" Vex glanced down at herself as she froze and began to disappear while saying "I-I… I'm sorry!" Felix glanced at her clothes and then walked out of the bathroom as he said "Maybe she's coming back for them?" As Felix entered the other room where his bed was he glanced at his birth tree and said "At least I was able to stay near my birth tree tonight."

Felix crouched down in front of the birth tree as he smiled and said "It's still comforting… even when I'm only near it for a few seconds." As Felix sat there he grabbed a small green watering can and began to pour some water onto the tree as he excitedly said "This little can makes watering my tree so much easier to." As Felix set the can down he laid down and said "Although… most of what I have is garbage… or something I found just laying outside." Felix smiled as he said, "Well whatever… as long as it works I guess." As Vex walked out of his bathroom fully dressed she bowed and said "I-I'm sorry to disturb you… I'll go and talk to Lilac for you." As Vex left Felix thought "She was still here?"
