1 Chapter 1 The Birth Of a Fox Spirit

As a brown-haired man carrying two buckets of water attached to a long stick over his shoulders walked along a path with the wind lightly blowing by. While walking along the path he yawned saying "At this rate, I'm gonna be late, my wife is definitely gonna chew my ear off." As the sky began to change and become a dark black color he sighed and said "Just my luck, I'll probably be drenched too." The man continued to walk as the rain began to come down slowly and then faster and faster as he walked carrying the two buckets. The man glanced up at the rain clouds and mumbled "If I knew it was gonna rain this badly I wouldn't have brought the buckets way out here to get water." The man glanced around the sky and said "But it's kinda sudden, all this rain seemed to have come from nowhere, there wasn't even a cloud in the sky until a moment ago."

While looking up a bolt of lightning struck in front of him just a few yards away causing the man to spill a large amount of water as he nearly fell back. The man stared at where the lightning had struck and then said "That's a little too close." As more lightning started to land all around him the man dropped the water buckets and fell to the ground while shouting in fear. As the lightning came down more and more the man continued to scream as he thought to himself "Is this how I die?" As he thought this he felt his throat be cut within a split second that was hardly noticeable. As the blood began to fall from the cut the man's screaming faded. The man held his throat while trying to prevent any more blood from coming out as he tried to say "What's going on!" while spitting up blood. The man stared up at the sky laying in a puddle of his own blood slowly bleeding out as he watched the clouds disperse as quickly as they appeared.

As the man closed his eyes the only thought going through his mind was "I wonder what my wife would think if she saw me in such a pitiful condition." Once the man's eyes were closed he opened them back up and found himself staring off into a field with a nice gentle breeze. The man glanced side to side and then straight up to see a tree. The man laid there for a while and then thought to himself "Shouldn't I be dead?" The man looked at his hand as he thought "There should be blood on m-" the man stared at a paw as he tried to shout "What happened to my hand!" But as he tried to shout this he only made fox sounds. his mind shot back and forth as he tried to figure out why he had paws instead of hands but as he looked back at himself he found himself inside of a fox's body with a gorgeous reddish-orange fur coat. The man stared at himself and thought to himself "Why am I a fox!"

The man glanced around and tried to say "I'm in a fox's body on top of a small hill with a lone tree, I can figure this out if I put my mind to it!" The man glanced around and began to walk through the field as he attempted to say "Maybe there's a clue somewhere around here." Once the man was a few yards away from the tree he stopped running and then turned back to the tree as he thought "Maybe this tree has something to do with it." Once near the tree he curled up next to it and thought "It doesn't seem to have any hints, but it is making me tired." As the man's eyes closed he heard a type of whispering that seemed to be knowledge being directly implanted into him. The man laid there as he thought "This feeling? It's warm, it's like the presence of a mother." As he opened his eyes once more he found some berries in front of him with a note that read "You're finally awake, you've been asleep for over a hundred years, your powers have been growing, unfortunately, I am unable to teach you, so I'm sorry to say, I'll have to ask you to learn how to use everything yourself, so please accept this food in place of my assistance."

The man glanced at the bottom of the paper and read a small note saying "From Elder Fox Spirit" After reading the note he walked over to the berries as he tried to say "A fox spirit left me a note?" As he ate some of the berries he thought to himself "This is so confusing, I wish I was still a human." As a leaf floated down from the tree and landed atop his head he took on a mostly human form, with only small traces of being a fox, such as his ears and tail. The man glanced at his hand as he asked "Did I get taller?" The man stared at his hand shocked as he shouted "I'm human again!" The man glanced at his red and orange tail as he said "Well... I'm mostly human." The man began to feel his own face as he said "It's nice having a human body back, but it feels like my looks haven't changed at all." The man stood up and glanced around until he spotted a river flowing a bit further away from the tree.

The man stumbled down the hill and peered into the river at his reflection as he said "Let's see what I'm working with." The man stared at his eyes and said "The eye color isn't grey anymore? It changes into a golden color." The man pinched some of his hair and rubbed it in between his fingers as he said "My brown hair has become orange and red too." The man walked back over to the tree as he picked the leaf from his hair and said "It's really strange, but I think I should be able to get used to it." As the man tossed the leaf away he quickly became a fox once again. The man glanced around and attempted to say "Was that lead the only reason I became a human?" As he picked the leaf up in his fox mouth he became human again. As he took the leaf out of his mouth and placed it back in his hair he glanced at his body and said "It really is amazing."

The man touched the clothes he was wearing and said "These are the same clothes I was wearing when that lightning started striking." The man walked back over to the tree and put his hand on it and as he said "This tree... it feels important." The man picked up the note and stared at it once again as he said "Speaking to this elder fox might be able to clear up all these questions I have." The man flipped the paper over and seen that even more was written. The man began to read it out loud as he said "The tree you wake up under is your birth tree, as the name may suggest it is the tree you were birthed from, this tree was whispering the languages of the spirits and other pieces of knowledge to you, it is the source of beginning for a fox spirit's power, it is also the fox spirit's beginning." The man took his hand off of the tree and stared at it as he said "So this tree is very important." The man began to walk in a straight line away from the tree as he said "Since this tree is so important I probably shouldn't go too far away from it, but I still wanna know what else is around here."

As he walked further and further away from the tree he eventually found himself at the edge of the field and peering off a tall mountain down at some tall metal structures. The man peered down at the metal structures and watched as lights came from them and other metal boxes moved around them repeatedly. The man tilted his head in confusion as he said "They don't have this from where I come from?" The man began to climb down the mountain as he said "I should get a closer look to see what these things are." As he got closer and closer to the bottom of the mountain he thought about the tall metal structures and said "I wonder what those things are for, they had light coming from them, and smaller boxes were moving around the bigger ones, maybe it's a strange type of animal I've never seen."

Once at the bottom of the hill he sat somewhat far away from the metal structures as he saw clearly now that those metal boxes were moving on a black path moving in two directions. The man stared at the metal boxes confused as he said "Those things? What are they?" As he got closer and closer he seen people in them. As he saw the people he back up and said "Those metal boxes are moving prisons, they must have been fighting and kept them as prisoners of a war." The man got low to the ground as he said "If I'm caught I might not be able to get away."
