MY MRS JONES

Annabelle walks outside to her car after parting with Diana when all of a sudden, she gets hit on the head by an unknown person. Annabelle falls to the ground unconscious.

1 Hour Later, At The Hospital.

David comes running into Annabelle's ward. He looks extremely worried.

David: (Walks and sits right next to Annabelle who had just woken up) Are you okay?, are you hurt?, do you feel pain?. (Notices the bandage around Annabelle's head. He gives a short sigh) Do you remember who hit you?.

Annabelle: I don't know since I couldn't see the person.

David: I'll call the police. They should be able to trace him from the cameras.

Annabelle: (Suddenly remembers she didn't go to see her mom, but Diana instead) No, don't. I'm really okay, I don't feel any pain.

David: (Suddenly upset) Stop!. From now on, I'll do the talking and you do the listening. I should've insisted when you told me not to drive you to your mom's place. Then this wouldn't have happened.

Annabelle: If you had driven me there, you would still go back home.

David: No!. I would've stayed there with you.

Annabelle: (Trying hard to persuade him) I'm really okay, there's no need to call the police.

David: No!. I'm still calling the police. No one touches my wife and gets away with it, not even you have the right to harm yourself. (Suddenly grabs his phone from his pocket and dials 911) Hello, this is David Jones speaking. I need you to go to 11433 at St Matthew's hospital. I have something to report.

45 Minutes Later

David is done talking to the police outside. He returns to Annabelle's ward.

David: You said you were going to visit your mom, but you ended up meeting an old friend of yours?.

Annabelle: I'm sorry. I thought if I had mentioned I was going to see someone else, you wouldn't let me go.

David: (Getting angry) Exactly!. Why would I let you go out alone at night. I was just being considerate since you're an adult and I was trying respect your privacy. Henceforth, you're not allowed to leave the house without a driver. Someone needs to protect you when I'm not there.

Annabelle: What am I?, a 5-year old?.

David: No!, but you're my responsibility. What if your mom had seen you in this state?. Who do you think she'd attack first?.

Annabelle: You?.

David: Exactly!. (Suddenly calm) Please don't go out carelessly. Especially not at night.

Annabelle: Okay, okay. I get it.

THE NEXT MORNING

Still At The Hospital.

David walks back in after making a call.

David: I called the maid to come here as soon as she can. You'd have one body guard as well protecting you.

Annabelle: Is it really necessary?.

David: It is necessary. (Walks closer to her position) I have a meeting to attend to, so I can't be here with you for now. I'll come back here as soon as I can. (The maid suddenly walks in. To the Beatrice) You made it just in time. I'm running late for my meeting, so stay here until I return.

Maid: Yes sir.

David: What about the body guard?.

Maid: He's on his way here.

David: Thank you Beatrice. (Turns to Annabelle) I'll see you when I get back.

Annabelle: (Nodes and David leaves the room) Beatrice!.

Maid: (Runs to her bed) I was so worried about you Mam. When Sir David called me and told me something bad had happened to you, I ran here as fast as I could.

Annabelle: Don't tell me you actually ran here.

Maid: No, I took an Uber.

Annabelle: Oh.

Maid: I was so worried. Are you okay now?, how's your head?, does it hurt?.

Annabelle: A little, but I'm okay now. I'm really okay.

Maid: Glory be to God. (Opening the plastic bag she brought) I brought you breakfast, lunch and dinner with some water.

Annabelle: Thank God!. I'm starving. (The maid hands over her bowl of breakfast to her after removing the lid. The smell of crispy bagel chip shrimp tostada fills the air) Thank you Beatrice (Beatrice nodes while smiling and Annabelle starts eating).

At Stephanie's House.

Stephanie: (Talking to someone on the phone) Did you do what I asked you to do?.

Voice: Yes Mam. I hit her hard in the head. It's possible she won't be able to wake up for a few days.

Stephanie: Can I really take your word for it?.

Voice: Yes mam. If you don't believe me, you can go see for yourself.

Stephanie: (Suddenly irritated) Stupid!. Why would I want to go see her?, so I can make myself a suspect?.

Voice: My apologies Mam.

Stephanie: You better. I'll send you the remaining balance of your payment today (ends the call. Refers to David) It's your company's anniversary today. I wonder if you can still make it. I'll just have to check for myself (quickly goes to her room to change her clothes).

At The Hospital,

In Annabelle's Ward.

Maid: I wonder how Sir David must be doing. He was so worried about you.

Annabelle: I think he can handle working just fine. My head injury isn't that serious.

Maid: (Suddenly remembers) Oh, it's his company's anniversary today. He probably didn't have time to prepare any speech.

Annabelle: Anniversary?.

Maid: Yes!. Before, he used to go there with some woman because his mother never bothered to attend. She used to live in the house before you moved in.

Annabelle: (Quickly grabs her phone beside her and dials Susan's number. It rings for a while before Susan finally answers) Hello, mother!.

Voice: Anna, sweetheart. I'm glad you called today, I was just about to call you. I miss you.

Annabelle: It's David's company's anniversary today. Do you by chance want to go with me?.

Voice: Oh my, I almost forgot it was today. Of course I'd love to go with you.

Annabelle: There's only one tiny problem.

Voice: Problem?. What problem?.

Annabelle: I got admitted in the hospital.

Voice: (Suddenly exclaims in shock) Hospital?.

30 Minutes Later

Susan rushes into Annabelle's ward with a plastic bag containing Annabelle's dress.

Susan: (Looking worried) Annabelle, honey (suddenly hugs her). What happened to you?. How did this happen?.

Annabelle: It's a long story. I'll explain to you later. For now, we have to hurry and leave. What about the dress?.

Susan: Of course I brought it with me. What really happened to your head? (helping Annabelle change into her dress).

At David's Company Event Hall

Annabelle and Susan immediately walk into the crowd while finding a place to sit. One of the company share holders on stage calls on David to come give a speech.

All: (Clapping and cheering when David suddenly walks up to the stage. Stephanie walks in minutes later while finding herself a seat beside David's chair like she knew where he usually sits).

Annabelle: (After seeing Stephanie walk in) Is that the girl I saw from last time?.

Susan: Who are you talking about?.

Annabelle: On the day of our wedding, some girl walked up to me in the restroom claiming to be David's ex. She even tried to warn me, but I didn't take her seriously.

Susan: Stephanie?. Where is she?.

Annabelle: (Suddenly rises) I'll be right back mother.

Susan: Where are you going?.

Annabelle: To show her who's boss (Immediately walks to Stephanie's sitting position and gracefully sits right next to her).

Stephanie: (Notices Annabelle sitting beside her. Surprised) You?.

Annabelle: Yes, me!. You better leave while I'm being nice if you know what's good for you.

Stephanie: (Laughs mockingly) Are you going to make me?.

Annabelle: How does it feel to get dragged out of here while pulling your hair?. (Mockingly) Oh my, so embarrassing. You'd make headlines.

Stephanie: (Suddenly affected by her words) How dare you?.

Annabelle: (In a loud voice) No, how dare you come here even after knowing he's a married man?. He has a wife now and she's sitting right next to you, me!, Mrs Jones!. You better get lost while I'm being polite. We both know I have the upper hand here. Now, get out!!.

Stephanie: You'll pay for this (stands and walks away. David later arrives to go to his sit when he suddenly sees Annabelle).

David: (Surprised) Annabelle!. (sits next to her) What are you doing here?. You're not recovered yet.

Annabelle: I'm sorry. Beatrice told me it was your company's anniversary today.

David: So she let you go?.

Annabelle: I wanted to be here with you.

David: Okay, but we're heading back to the hospital after this. (Annabelle nodes and David smiles lovingly) Did you hear my speech?, how was it?.

Annabelle: I know you couldn't write one because of me, but somehow you did great. (Smiles proudly) My husband's a genius (David's heart starts pounding so fast after hearing Annabelle call him her husband. He smiles back while staring into her eyes for a long time).
