Preparation to Level Up 1

As the months past my training increased. My glaive weighs a shocking two hundred and thirty pounds. Every week I increase it by fifteen pounds from before. I am also getting faster and faster with it.

Seeing as my Master refuses to allow me to use a weapon I don't forge I am waiting till I pass the tests and am recognized as a tier 3 runemaster. I am confident that I will be able to make my weapon by the end of the week.

Because my foundation in fighting has stabilized my Master is allowing me to use support skills ahead of schedule while I fight. But he still refuses to allow me to use attack spells. Then one time I tried to slip one in, he broke both my arms because the spell slowed me down way to much. He punished me by making me run ten miles with weight training armour. Before that I only used the six hundred pound armour for a one mile run before running the other nine without weight, now I had to use a seven hundred pound armour for the full ten miles.

From then on I always listened to him no matter how slow I felt the training was going. I am also ready for my breakthrough to squire and mage apprentice, but i was told that it would beneifit me to go through the ascension process with my weapon.

The biggest thing is I was going to try a new move I have been practicing, I know I won't win but maybe I can surprise Sam and finally leave a mark on him. He promised to give me one day off if I could touch him with my weapon.

I was waiting for the perfect moment as I knew I would only have one chance. I swwep up with the buttspike of my glaive which Sam blocked by kicking down on the hard right above the spike. All of a sudden I pushed my lightning through my nerves to increase my speed. I suddenly became twice as fast and my glaive swiped at my masters neck. Sam's response was to fast though and blocked the swipe. Good thing that was just to hide my elvow coming at his chin.

I heard a crack" Ahhhhhhhhhhhh" my elbow broke. what the hell is this guy made of?

" Hahaha," spitting out a small amount of blood Sam started to laugh. " I didn't expect you to land a hit on me for at least a few more months. Passing me a pill, " swallow this and take a deep breath" as this is not my first time breaking a bone I quickly took it and clenched my teeth so i wouldnt bite of my own toungue. Grabbing my shoulder and wrist he jerked resetting the arm, then the pill took effect.

"Seeing as how you landed the hit, you have tomorrow free. There is an auction tomorrow, you should see if you can find a few materials for your tier three glaive. You can take this as a gift from master though." Saying that safe passed me a solid blue staff," this is a staff made from a Blue Flame Fruit Tree. It is preferred by most mages who pursue fire. It is only slightly stronger than mortal iron so you will need to stengthen it and find something for your lightning. Also remember your blade must be able to conduct all of your mana types. "

"Thank you master." I quickly say my thanks before leaving. Seeing as I already used the money the clan gave me for a weapon on the glaive my Master made me throw out I have been saving money to try and get enough materials to forge my own. Unfortunately all I managed to make was sixty thousand this year after paint for my traing resources I was left with a measly fourty-five thousand.

"Father may I borrow fifty thousand? As you know my Master says an eldritch knight must craft their own weapon and I haven not earned enough for all the materials." I embarrassedly asked my dad.

"Son take this. It has one million gold in it. after buying your materials you can return what's left if their is anything. make sure to build the best weapon you can as it will be the foundation for the weapons you will use for the rest of your life..." My father said with a smile.

Hearing him I felt the urge to cry. In my last life I had know father, in this life only have I learned the meaning of the saying "a father's love his heavy like the mountain". "Thank you father for all you have done for me." I said with a choking voice.

"Do not cry son, a man cannot cry over every little thing. Only when a loved one dies may we men cry. If someone takes the life of those we love we shed both our tears and the bastards blood to honour are loved ones passing." My father explained to me with a stern voice.

**********************************************

The auction would only start in the late evening, so I decided to check the market for reagents for my runes. Maybe I could find a few cheaper materials needed for my glaive.

"Jason wait up!" looking back I see a blure as someone rushes to me. I immediately know it is my cousin James. He just became a Squire last week, he uses twin short swords that have leaf blades. I once protected him when I saw a few guys ruffing him up on my way back from the blacksmith guild. Now I cannot seem to get rid of him.

"What do you want James?" I asked slightly annoyed. "Hehe, I told you I have sworn to be your protector. You know my greatgrandfather reincarnated like you during the last cycle from five thousand years ago. He came from a world were knights would swear there loyalty as a protector to one man and would only leave at their own death. so if you die I will follow. " James said with a goofy grin like it was a small matter.

"WHAT? HOW THE HELL CAN YOU MAKE A KNIGHT'S VOW OF LIFE SERVICE OVER PROTECTING YOU FROM BULLIES! YOU WOULD HAVE ONLY TAKEN A BEATING!" I exclaim.

"I do not know I just felt it was the right thing. My great grandfather also told me i need to follow that instinct no matter how foolish it may seem. I must never go against my instinct. Apparently it has something to do with my body...." James explained.

Confused I asked what he meant. "Well I don't really know but apparently I have a named fiendgod body called the Falling Star body. It apparently means my instincts will almost always be right and it makes me naturally very fast like a falling star. What excites me the most is that once I reach knight tier I will awaken a technique called Falling Star Movement. It is an evolving technique inherent to my body type!" James explaine.

I was astounded. I only have a mortal body and people kept looking down on my odds because of it, so I decided to look up what's so special about bodies. The levels go Mortal body, Mystic Metal body, Fiendgod body, and Named Fiendgod body. Apparently there was a fifth type known as Titan bodies, but that was something that was gained though a lucky encounter not something you could be born with so wasn't counted . While you could advance ranks it was only within you body type, like i could raise my body to tier 9 mortal body but would never be able to reach mystic metal tier 1 body. Of course I could become always raise it to a Titan body but the titan fruits are extremly rare plus they each have a requirement to use them. So the odds of me finding one I can use is pretty much zero. The big issue is James' body is in the top million body and actually is one of the few with the possibility to evolve, so his talent ie off the charts, while I might never become a knight.

If James was telling the truth he had the highest talent in the barony by a very large margin and probably even th marquisdom, while outside of blacksmithing, and runes my talent was only enough to place me in the top fifty of the city. Why the hell would someone like that follow me?
