1 What are Best friends for
At 11:00. On the top floor of the Ritz hotel, London.

In room 101 of the Ritz hotel lied a man on a king sized bed drinking vodka straight from the bottle crying about something. You could see empty bottles of various expensive wines strewn across the floor hinting that this man was drinking. A lot.
His name is Shaun Tyler. He is, sorry, WAS one of the 3 Faction Leaders of the organisation, Thousand Eye. Thousand Eye is the organisation that gives information for anything that's worth anything in the VRMMO Limitless. It is not in the organisation rankings but could easily place first
Limitless is the worlds first VRMMO that was made by the company Era. Era was founded on the year 2020 and has been around for 10 years. Like its name, in its 10 years of being founded it has ushered in a new age of technology, myths like holograms and flying cars were child's play for them to make and floating cities only took a year to invent. Its longest project, Limitless, took a company of geniuses 5 years to make. Who knows how long it would've taken to make a VRMMO without them.
Limitless was advertised for 1 year and started the selling of the gaming pods 2 months before launching the game.
Era launched limitless on its 10th anniversary and it has been around 10 years.
Shaun's organisation, Thousand Eye had 3 mysterious Faction Leaders that no one has seen with few exceptions to this trend. Rumour has it that the Faction Leaders are way above the current player base and elites in levels and that is why guilds don't dare provoke them.
That rumour is true. Shaun is currently level 701! 200 levels ahead of the current 'Top player' on the leader Sword of Heaven leader of the current 'Top' organisation Heavens Sword and the scary thing is that Thousand Eye has 3 such existences.
The reason why Shaun was crying his sorrows away in alcohol was because he was betrayed.
Why you ask?
Unbeknownst to the world, Thousand Eyes 3 Faction Leaders cooperation with each other was very fragile.
When they first made the organisation it was purely for fun but as they grew more powerful they got more ambitious wanting to take the organisation for themselves.
Well all except Shaun.
Shaun was only a casual player and had a girlfriend. He spent only 4 days a week playing to make money and the rest he spends with his girlfriend. He didn't have big ambitions and found his life at Thousand Eye very boring but he was there to make money for him and his girlfriend. He couldn't care less if the two other Faction Leaders wanted the organisation. As long as they don't bother him he would be fine.
Shaun's synchronization rate was terrifying allowing him to efficiently learn and grind a get ahead of the current player base even as a casual player. Who knows what level he would be if he played properly.
Synchronization rate was everything in the virtual reality that Era made. You can only be a pro with a decent synchronization rate and you can only measure it when you get into the virtual reality pod.
Bear in mind that synchronization rate affects your reaction time in game and affects how you process information. For example with a low synchronisation rate you would not be able to learn high level magic because you can't understand it. With a high synchronisation rate you can dodge bullet if you have the stats and learn very high level magic.
Shaun's synchronization rate was unprecedentedly high even Era's quantum computer, Cloud, was astounded but other than him, Cloud and his best friend Dan, no one new this.
As to why Shaun was crying?
Well let's make a list:
1.Girlfriend cheating on him for Kyle(Faction Leader 2) as he promised her power and Jewels. Which woman wouldn't want that!

3.Thousand Eye exposing his identity to the world and putting bounties on his head.
Yeah. His life sucks at the moment.
*KNOCK KNONCK KNOCK*
"What!" Shaun slurred. He got of the bed picking up a glass bottle smashed on the floor to make it sharp and stumbled up to the door .
He turned the knob and what greeted him was the face of his best friend. Dan Smith.
Shaun instantly dropped the bottle and ran up and hugged Dan.
He and Dan were practically brothers. Growing up together they new everything about the other.
Yes. Everything.
2 years ago Dan got in a car accident and Shaun as soon as he heard about it almost bankrupted himself for him. That is true brotherhood.
Now Dan is here for Shaun. Shaun try felt touched
"Bro, you good. I've never seen you this messed up!" Dan joked. Both were 29 so they new how to joke around.
Shaun got up from Dan's embrace and said to Dan, "Thanks for being here for me bro. I was thinking about jumping..."
"Bro, what are best friends for? I'm here for you. Now let's drink!"
Dan didn't have a special job. He was an owner of a kendo dojo. He worked his ass of for the job for 4 years and Shaun was really proud of him but he didn't always want to do this. He wanted to start an organisation with Shaun but didn't have enough money to buy the game. So he had to postpone playing the game until he got enough money for 1 year. Though it looks short in the the game 5 hours is 1 out in reality so Dan missed 5 years of gameplay so there was no point in playing. Shaun tried buying one for Dan but Dan insisted in buying one with his own money.
Dan was a orphan so he didn't have much money. Shaun payed his University fees and is paying for his accommodation as well. He didn't want to rely on him for the rest of his life! Shaun was born in a well off family. His Father works for the government in England and his mom serves the military in England as well so he lived alone since he was ten but he still got a heap ton of pocket money to pay for his education.
Dan still tried playing and it turned out that his synchronisation rate was even more terrifying than Shaun's!!! But time is one thing you cant get back so he had to give up his dreams.
After 1 hour of drinking Dan was very drunk. Dan turned to Shaun with a determined grin.
"Shaun."
"Yeeeaaaah,"
"Let's do something crazy,"
"Like what,"
"Promise me..."
"Promise you what,"
"I will tell you on the roof..."
Shaun, obviously peeved about how Dan was baiting him, got up to go to the roof, muttering curses under his breath.
The roof of the Ritz hotel was a restricted area but why couldn't a bunch of drunks sneak there...
*CLANG* *BANG**CRACK*
"My tooooe."

"Where here. Now what,"
"Repeat after me
I, Shaun Tyler, vow on the heavens to be Limitless' No.2 player making my bro, Dan Smith No. 1. I vow that we will create an organization and I will be co Faction Leader with Dan and aim to be the No.1 organization out there,"
Shaun repeated that but then realised what he said.
"What did I do to you bro," Shaun was crying. Because of his drunkenness he signed his life away to is bro!
"I Dan Smith vow to become the No.1 player and my bro always second to me! I will be Chairman and find myself a very loyal but beautiful wife!"
After that dramatic scene Dan and Shaun laughed their heads off but something unexpected happened.
The clear skies of London were instantly flooded by big dark storm clouds threatening to spew lightning. Though this phenomenon was unprecedented no one really worried.
Its London, were the skies really meant to be clear?
What everyone didn't know was that this wasn't the only thing happening at the same time...
