Augustus's eyes flew open as he found himself back in his bedroom, his body fully awake but his soul injured from his recent death. His complexion was pale, but he knew he couldn't worry about his own health right now. With trembling hands, he quickly accessed the subordinate's system to confirm what he feared most - Vera was really dead.

"There's no way," Augustus muttered to himself, hitting his head in frustration. He couldn't believe what had just happened. "There's no f*cking way."
